  • There occurs subtle shaking in our eyes while in looking at objects and this study sets up the standard of reconciliation from the property of observation and organizes the property of data reconciliation by the observation range to secure the feasibility of reconciliation range and method of the original data obtained from observation experiment and its analysis process. The results from above study can be concluded as in the followings: First, it made clear the process to exclude eye blink and data out of image range from the original data so to set up the range of available data. Second, on the basis of existing theory, it was possible to define the minimum attention time as 0.1 second (3 times of observation) and the visual understanding time of space as 0.3 second (9 times of observation) in the study on the property of observation, and this definition of observation time of sight fixation becomes an important indicator in the analysis of observation data. Third, based on the observation theory of continuity securing and attention, it was able to arrange the standard of reconciliation by carrying out reconciliation works only when fixed data with more than three times of observation showed consecutively before and behind the data with intermittent movements. Fourth, In the sector whether visual understanding occurred (more than 9 times), it increased by 12% for the frequency of observation and by 7.8% for the times of observation compared with the ones before the reconciliation. These results showed to have a constant change by subjects so that it was able to arrange a foundation to secure objective data in the analysis of the observation range and its extent.

  • In chemical processes, measurement errors reduce the credibility of information and cause inconsistency in material and energy balances. Because multicomposition flows and temperature measurements make material and energy balances nonlinear equations, data reconciliation becomes a nonlinear constrained optimization problem. In multicomposition processes, if we follow general optimization procedure, the number of measurement variables is so large that data reconciliation requires much computation time. We propose the decomposition procedure to reduce the computation time without the decrease of accuracy of data reconciliation. Decomposition procedure finds global variables, that can reduce the nonlinearity of constraints, and divides two sub-optimization problems. Once we optimize the global variables at upper level, we can easily optimize the remain variables at tower level, We can obtain the short computational time and the same accuracy as SQP optimization method.

  • A methodology for on-line data reconciliation and optimization has been proposed to minimize the energy cost of a utility system. As industrial data tend to be corrupted by noise or gross error, fast and robust data reconciliation technique is essential for the on-line optimization of utility system. Thus, we propose the hierarchical decomposition approach that can be applicable to on-line data reconciliation and optimization. As this approach divides whole system into several subsystems and removes the nonlinearity of constraint systematically, it handles complexity of system easily and shows good performance in accuracy and computation speed. Through case studies, we prove that this methodology is a good candidate for on-line data reconciliation and optimization.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the work-family reconciliation level of married women in double-income households. Specifically, the study aimed to test the positive spillover effects, asymmetry, and differential functions of work-family reconciliation. The study thus analyzed 1,114 married women in double-income households in the third-year data of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families (KLoWF) done by Korean Women's Development Institute (KWDI), with the exception of those who were separated, divorced, or widowed from their husbands. The data were put to descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, and exploratory factor analysis using SPSS 20.0 for Windows. AMOS 20.0 was used to test the hypothesis on positive spillover effects, asymmetry, and differential functions. The analysis results confirm that work-family conflict, family-work conflict, work-family facilitation, and family-work facilitation are different concepts, thus supporting the hypothesis on positive spillover effects. Secondly, the negative effects of family on work were greater than those of work on family, whereas the positive effects of family on work were greater than those of work on family, which finding partially supported the hypothesis on asymmetry among the components of work-family reconciliation. Finally, the married women in double-income households with preschool children experienced more work-family conflict and family-work conflict than those with no preschool children, which result supported the hypothesis on differential functions between the two groups of women. The findings were combined to provide implications for the utilization of family resources, policies for work-family reconciliation, and plans for institutional supports to promote the work-family reconciliation of married women in double-income households.

  • Various techniques and strategies have been developed for the identification of intracellular metabolic conditions, and among them, isotope balance-based flux analysis with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/ MS) has recently become popular. Even though isotope balance-based flux analysis allows a more accurate estimation of intracellular fluxes, its application has been restricted to relatively small metabolic systems because of the limited number of measurable metabolites. In this paper, a strategy for incorporating isotope balance-based flux data obtained for a small network into metabolic flux analysis was examined as a feasible alternative allowing more accurate quantification of intracellular flux distribution in a large metabolic system. To impose GC/MS based data into a large metabolic network and obtain optimum flux distribution profile, data reconciliation procedure was applied. As a result, metabolic flux values of 308 intracellular reactions could be estimated from 29 GC/ MS based fluxes with higher accuracy.

  • Especially in Korea, LNG terminals commonly have huge scale because of the high demand of natural gas, and for the safe operation of terminal wide observation on temperature is necessary. That is the reason why the terminal has thermometer all over the facility but another information, flow rate, is insufficient. By the way, in pipeline, temperature difference is highly related with flow rate and with some simple assumptions, we can estimate flow rate. And through the steady state data reconciliation, the flow rate data become more reliable. In this research, we will study about flow rate data reconciliation method for LNG terminal and case study.

  • Sharing XML trees on mobile devices has become more and more popular. Optimistic replication of XML trees for mobile devices raises the need for reconciliation of concurrently modified data. Especially for reconciling the modified tree structures, we have to compare trees by node mapping which takes O($n^2$) time. Also, using semantic based conflict resolving policy is often discussed in the literature. In this research, we focused on an efficient reconciliation method for mobile environments, using edit scripts of XML data sent from each device. To get a simple model for mobile devices, we use the XML list data sharing model, which allows inserting/deleting subtrees only for the repetitive parts of the tree, based on the document type. Also, we use keys for repetitive part subtrees, keys are unique between nodes with a same parent. This model not only guarantees that the edit action always results a valid tree but also allows a linear time reconciliation algorithm due to key based list reconciliation. The algorithm proposed in this paper takes linear time to the length of edit scripts, if we can assume that there is no insertion key conflict. Since the previous methods take a linear time to the size of the tree, the proposed method is expected to provide a more efficient reconciliation model in the mobile environment.

  • Rainfall data is the most basic input data to analyze the hydrological phenomena and can be missing due to various reasons. In this research, a neural network based model to estimate missing rainfall data as approximate values was developed for 12 rainfall stations in the Soyang river basin to improve existing methods. This approach using neural network has shown to be useful in many applications to deal with complicated natural phenomena and displayed better results compared to the popular offline estimating methods, such as RDS(Reciprocal Distance Squared) method and AMM(Arithmetic Mean Method). Additionally, we proposed automated data reconciliation systems composed of a neural network learning processer to be capable of real-time reconciliation to transmit reliable hydrological data online.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of work-family reconciliation of Korean nonprofit organization workers. To achieve this purpose, researchers collected data from in-depth interviews and analysed the data through qualitative case study approach that is useful to reveal the invisible phenomenon. As results, the researchers found several categories that were related to work-family reconciliation and experiences in those categories. Specifically, 'the richer-get-richer' in the category of institution, 'organizational culture is important', 'can use but also not', 'the pure value of work' in the work, 'struggling: acceptance and easing my mind' in the family and finally 'measuring and tightrope' in between the work and family. Penetrating analysis of the nature of these found three themes, 'ultimate choice, nonprofit', 'proper than the best: a tipped scale is also balanced', 'systems are living things: ever-changing'. Based on these findings, researchers suggested several policies and practical alternatives to support work-family reconciliation of NPOs and their workers in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the perception of cyber community participants on reconciliation of divorced couple and find reasons for pros and cons concerning reconciliation after divorce. The data were collected through searching for website or Internet cafe related to 'reconciliation after divorce' on Internet. The contents of 7 cases for asking for advice on reuniting and opinions of cyber community participants on them were analyzed. Cyber community participants expressed their approval of divorced couple's reuniting for following reasons: 'strong motive for reunion', 'sexual relation with ex-partner', 'parental responsibility', 'regarding reconciliation as a better choice than remarriage', 'regarding as a good choice for child' etc. But cyber community members were opposed to divorced couple's reuniting for following reasons: 'doubt about real intention to reuniting', 'no self-reflection on previous marriage and ex-spouse', 'concern for recurrence of former marital conflict', 'reuniting only for child not for couple', 'no prior settlement of former marital conflict', 'no forgiveness and tolerance for ex-spouse', 'no reflection and change', 'no effort on ex-spouse's side' etc. Though these results were restrictive, this study identified issues surrounding reconciliation after divorce through asking and giving advices by anonymous members on cyberspace. These findings implied that we should take more interest in reconciliation as an realistic alternative marriage pattern after divorce and consider what is important to successful reuniting after divorce.
