  • If a restriction is imposed only to a (proper) subset of parameters of interest, we call it a local restriction. Statistical inference under a local restriction in multinomial setting is studied. The maximum likelihood estimation under a local restriction and likelihood ratio tests for and against a local restriction are discussed. A real data is analyzed for illustrative purpose.

  • In this paper, we propose a new fractal image decoding algorithm with fast convergence speed by using the data dependence and the improved initial image estimation. Conventional method for fractal image decoding requires high-degrdd computational complexity in decoding process, because of iterated contractive transformations applied to whole range blocks. On proposed method, Range of reconstruction imagte is divided into referenced range and data dependence region. And computational complexity is reduced by application of iterated contractive transformations for the referenced range only. Data dependence region can be decoded by one transformations when the referenced range is converged. In addition, more exact initial image is estimated by using bound () function in case of all, and an initial image more nearer to a fixed point is estimated by using range block division estimation. Consequently, the convergence speed of reconstruction iamge is improved with 40% reduction of computational complexity.

  • One-dimensional arrays with subscripts formed by induction variables in real programs appear quite frequently. For most famous data dependence testing methods, checking if integer-valued solutions exist for one-dimensional arrays with references created by induction variable is very difficult. The I test, which is a refined combination of the GCD and Banerjee tests, is an efficient and precise data dependence testing technique to compute if integer-valued solutions exist for one-dimensional arrays with constant bounds and single increments. In this paper, the non-continuous I test, which is an extension of the I test, is proposed to figure out whether there are integer-valued solutions for one-dimensional arrays with constant bounds and non-sing ularincrements or not. Experiments with the benchmarks that have been cited from Livermore and Vector Loop, reveal that there are definitive results for 67 pairs of one-dimensional arrays that were tested.

  • This study identified the relationship between adolescents' academic helplessness and smartphone dependence and verified the parallel mediating effect of self-esteem and friendships. To this end, the fourth data of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 (KCYPS) conducted by the Korea Youth Policy Institute were used, and 2,244 were used for analysis after removing 346 adolescents who responded to the survey. For data analysis, the statistical package programs SPSS WIN 25.0 and Hayes (2013)'s PROCESS Macro V 3.5 were used, and the following results were derived. First, adolescents' academic helplessness had a positive (+)(+) effect on their dependence on smartphones. Second, self-esteem was found to mediate the relationship between adolescents' academic helplessness and smartphone dependence. Third, it was found that friend relationships mediate the relationship between adolescents' academic helplessness and smartphone dependence. Based on these results, practical and policy suggestions to reduce adolescents' dependence on smartphones and follow-up studies to overcome the limitations of research were proposed.

  • Traditional slicing techniques make slices through dependence graph and improve the accuracy of slices. However, traditional slicing techniques require many vertices and edges in order to express a data communication link because they are based on static slicing techniques. Therefore the graph becomes very complicated. We propose the representation of a dynamic system dependence graph so as to process the slicing of a software system that is composed of related programs in order to process certain jobs. We also propose programs on efficient slicing algorithm using relations of relative tables in order to compute dynamic slices of a software system. Using a marking table from results of the proposed algorithm can make dynamic system dependence graph for dynamic slice generation. Tracing this graph can generate final slices. We have illustrated our example with C program environment. Consequently, the efficiency of the proposed dynamic system dependence graph technique is also compared with the dependence graph techniques discussed previously. As the results, this is certifying that the dynamic system dependence graph is more efficient in comparison with system dependence graph.

  • Objectives : This study identified factors that influenced social nicotine dependence in university students using descriptive methods. Methods : Data were collected 429 university students from 2 universities in B metropolitan city. The analytical methods were the t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Results : There were significant differences in social nicotine dependence according to gender (t=3.359, p=.001), smoking status (t=8.915, p=.000), religion (t=3.841, p=.022), economic status (t=3.632, p=.027) and grade (t=8.466, p=.000). Social nicotine dependence was weakly correlated with anxiety (r=.113, p<.05). Meaningful variables that explain social nicotine dependence were anxiety, self-efficacy self-esteem, female, smokers and no religion. Conclusions : It is necessary to develop a comprehensive smoke-free policy that considers social nicotine dependence to improve the cultural and social awareness of the associated health hazards of smoking, and to develop smoking cessation education and smoking prevention programs that improve the self-efficacy and self-esteem of university students.

  • This paper considers a long-run variance estimation using a block bootstrap method under strong dependence also known as long range dependence. We extend currently available methods in two ways. First, it extends bootstrap methods under short range dependence to long range dependence. Second, to accommodate the observation that strong dependence may come from deterministic trend plus noise models, we propose to utilize residuals obtained from the nonparametric kernel estimation with the bimodal kernel. The simulation study shows that our method works well; in addition, a data illustration is presented for practitioners.

  • This study explores how the main variables of youth going through a transition period (parents' nurturing behavior, the youth's self-esteem and ego resilience, the peer group relationships) affect the youth's school adjustment. It also analyzes the effects of theses variables on the youth's dependence on cell phones, which are considered a necessity in modern society. This research is verified by using a structure model verification method based on data from the Korean Children Youth Panel Study. According to the research, first, 1st-year students in middle school show better adjustment to their school life and less dependence on cell phones when they have a stronger sense of self-esteem and ego resilience; further, it is revealed that cell phone dependence has an indirect influence on the school life of these children. Second, they tend to show better adjustment to their school life and less dependence on cell phones when their parents' nurturing behaviors are more positive. Third, these children tend to depend more on cell phones when they have a positive peer group relationship, Moreover, cell phone dependence has an indirect influence on their school life. When considering the impact of cell phone to youth in modern society, need to prepare proper training program for correct uses and preventing from addiction.

  • We present the environmental dependence of the luminosity-size relation of galaxies in the local universe (z < 0.01) along with their dependence on galaxy morphology represented by five broad types (E, dEs, S0, Sp, and Irr). The environmental parameters we consider are the local background density and the group/cluster membership together with the clustercenteric distance for the Virgo cluster galaxies. We derive the regression coefficient (${\beta}$), i.e., the slope of the line representing the least-squares fitting to the data and the Pearson correlation coefficient (c.c.) representing the goodness of the least-squares fit along with the confidence interval from bootstrap resampling. We find no significant dependence of the luminosity-size relation on galaxy morphology. However, there is a weak dependence of the luminosity-size relations on the environment of galaxies, in the sense that galaxies in the low density environment have shallower slopes than galaxies in the high density regions except for elliptical galaxies that show an opposite trend.
