  • A Scanning Rayleigh Doppler lidar for wind profiling based on a non-polarized beam splitter cube optically contacted FPI is developed for wind measurement from high troposphere to low stratosphere in 5-35 km. Non-polarized beam splitter cube optically contacted to the FPI are used for a stable optical receiver. Zero Doppler shift correction is used to correct for laser or FPI frequency jitter and drift and the timing sequence is designed. Stability of the receiver for Doppler shift discrimination is validated by measuring the transmissions of FPI in different days and analyzed the response functions. The maximal relative wind deviation due to the stability of the optical receiver is about 4.1% and the standard deviation of wind velocity is 1.6% due to the stability. Wind measurement comparison experiments were carried out in Jiuquan ($39.741^{\circ}N$, $98.495^{\circ}E$), Gansu province of China in 2015, showing good agreement with radiosonde result data. Continuous wind field observation was performed from October 16th to November 12th and semi-continuous wind field of 19 nights are presented.

  • Plant life cycle consists of design, construction, certification, operation, and maintenance phases, and various and enormous plant life cycle data is involved in each phase. Plant life cycle data should be linked with each other based on its proper relationships, so that plant operators can access necessary plant data during their regular operations and maintenance works. Currently, the relationships of plant life cycle data may not be defined explicitly, or they are scattered over several plant information systems. This paper proposes high level design of a plant life cycle data management system based on pre-defined plant life cycle database design. ISO-15926 standard is adapted for the database design. User-interface designs of the plant life cycle data management system are explained based on analysis of plant owners' requirements. A conceptual design of the database is also described with the entity-relationship diagram.

  • University IT center usually has led IT system and headquarters have been working as a separate organization. If we apply the governance framework that is unique to the university system for IT governance in university IT project, IT transparency and efficiency are increased, and IT is no longer a simple tool but a university IT governance it will be stabilized. To improve existing problems, UCC was developed a unique framework of university organization based on CobiT Cube. So it can use effectively University IT on various side. I propose a method that can be applied to university information system sequentially through UCSP spiral process so that information service is classified into 5 areas and process is gradually applied.

  • 3D seismic travel-time tomography algorithm baled on Fresnel volume was developed and its feasibility was investigated by the numerical experiments. To testify the field applicability of the developed algorithm, frequency characteristics and way coverage of the crossholel seismic raw data were investigated and 3D velocity tomogram cube with about 8m spatial resolution was obtained. When compared this 3D velocity cube with the conventional 2D ray tomogram, two results were matched well. We concluded that 3D seismic tomography algorithm developed in this study has enough potential to the field application.

  • In order to post process the vector-quantized images employing the theory of projections onto convex sets or the constrained minimization technique, the the projector onto QCS(quantization constraint set) as well as the filter that smoothes the lock boundaries should be investigated theoretically. The basic idea behind the projection onto QCS is to prevent the processed data from diverging from the original quantization region in order to reduce the blurring artifacts caused by a filtering operation. However, since the Voronoi regions in order to reduce the blurring artifacts caused by a filtering operation. However, since the Voronoi regions in the vector quantization are arbitrarilly shaped unless the vector quantization has a structural code book, the implementation of the projection onto QCS is very complicate. This paper mathematically analyzes the projection onto QCS from the viewpoit of minimizing the mean square error. Through the analysis, it has been revealed that the projection onto a subset of the QCS yields lower distortion than the projection onto QCS does. Searching for an optimal constraint set is not easy and the operation of the projector is complicate, since the shape of optimal constraint set is dependent on the statistical characteristics between the filtered and original images. Therefore, we proposed a hyper-cube as a constraint set that enables a simple projection. It sill be also shown that a proper filtering technique followed by the projection onto the hyper-cube can reduce the quantization distortion by theory and experiment.

  • This study aims to enhance the understanding of the surface pressure distribution around rectangular bodies, by considering aspects such as the suction pressure at the leading edge on the top and side faces when the body aspect ratio and wind direction are changed. We carried out wind tunnel measurements and numerical simulations of flow around a series of rectangular bodies (a cube and two rectangular bodies) that were placed in a deep turbulent boundary layer. Based on a modern numerical platform, the Navier-Stokes equations with the typical two-equation model (i.e., the standard $k-{\varepsilon}$ model) were solved, and the results were compared with the wind tunnel measurement data. Regarding the turbulence model, the results of the $k-{\varepsilon}$ model are in overall agreement with the experimental results, including the existing data. However, because of the blockage effects in the computational domain, the pressure recovery region is underpredicted compared to the experimental data. In addition, the $k-{\varepsilon}$ model sometimes will fail to capture the exact flow features. The primary emphasis in this study is on the flow characteristics around rectangular bodies with various aspect ratios and approaching wind directions. The aspect ratio and wind direction influence the type of wake that is generated and ultimately the structural loading and pressure, and in particular, the structural excitation. The results show that the surface pressure variation is highly dependent upon the approaching wind direction, especially on the top and side faces of the cube. In addition, the transverse width has a substantial effect on the variations in surface pressure around the bodies, while the longitudinal length has less influence compared to the transverse width.

  • Blast vibration equations proposed previously are investigated. Special attention is given to the blast vibration equation which shows the best fitting to the geologic condition of Korea. The fittness of proposed blast vibration equation is analyzed and examined using many field data measured in Korea. The prediction of blast vibration equation using field data was performed by linear regression analysis. Moreover, after the prediction of each blast vibration equation, vibration velocity is recalculated on the basis of scaled distance at each equation. Reliability of regressioned blast vibration equation is observed by comparing predicted and measured velocity, which is divided into small-scale blasting of city and large-scale blasting of quarry. Based on this study, the best fitting equation to the Korean geologic condition is ROOT SCALING & CUBE ROOT SCALING proposed by USBM(United Nations Bureau of Mines). Also representative blast vibration equations depending on the different kinds of rock mass are proposed using measured and existing field data.

  • In Computer Graphics, to select the element for modeling is very important in aspect of real-time processing of photorealistic images. Especially in modeling of informal objects, the criteria of choice are such as the minimum number of data, the easy rendering technique, and the expansibility. The metaball model which is one of the methods for modeling the implicit surface is excellent in modeling the complicated surface with a few data. However, a greater number of data are required for modeling objects that consist of planar surfaces with metaballs than with polygons. In this paper, we propose the new skeletal element, metacube which has the merits of metaball and improves the modeling ability of informal objects containing planar surfaces. A metacube has two parameters to change freely its shape from the cube to the sphere and can easily do the modeling of objects with curved surfaces and plane surfaces.

  • This study attempts at prototyping and evaluating a geovisualization tool that summarizes and explores human activity patterns using spatio-temporal trajectory data collected from GPS receiver. A set of core conceptualization developed in 'time geography' is successfully represented by our prototype based on the notion of 'space-time cube.' The notions of 'temporal dispersion cylinder' and 'parallel plane plot' are also implemented to allow funker analyses of human activity pattern on the space-time trajectory. The capabilities of the geovisualization environment we proposed include the interactive and dynamic functions that support a variety of explorations on the three components of spatio-temporal data : space(where), time(when), and object(what).

  • The amount of web traffic has increased as a result of the rapid growth of the use of web-based applications. In order to obtain valuable information from web logs, we need to develop systems that can support interactive, flexible, and efficient ways to analyze and handle large amounts of data. In this paper, we present CERES, a log-based, interactive web analytics system for backbone networks. Since CERES focuses on analyzing web log records generated from backbone networks, it is possible to perform a web analysis from the perspective of a network. CERES is designed for deployment in a server cluster using the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) as the underlying storage. We transform and store web log records from backbone networks into relations and then allow users to use a SQL-like language to analyze web log records in a flexible and interactive manner. In particular, we use the data cube technique to enable the efficient statistical analysis of web log. The system provides users a web-based, multi-modal user interface.
