In this paper, we designed and fabricated a receiving modem that can be applied to guided weapons can change real-time targets with little effect of fading. The designed modem consists of synchronous detector, timing error estimator, timing recovery, differential decoder and viterbi decoder, and it's implemented in FPGA so that it can be redesigned and modified according to requirements. The modem board was directly converted from IF frequency to baseband and converted into digital data through ADC. It is confirmed that it is applicable to the guided weapons that changing real-time targets through simulations, measurements and test.

The space-borne SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) system radiates the microwave signal and receives the backscattered signal. The received signal is converted to digital at the Digital Receiver, which is implemented at the end of the SAR sensor receiving chain. The converted signal is formated after signal processing such as filtering and data compression. Two quantization are conducted in the Digital Receiver. One quantization is an analog to digital conversion at ADC(Analog-Digital Converter). Another quantization is the BAQ(Block Adaptive Quantization) for data compression. The quantization process is a conversion from a continuous or higher bit precision to a discrete or lower bit precision. As a result, a quantization noise is inevitably occurred. In this paper, the impact of two quantization processes are analyzed in a view of SNR degradation.

In general, EEG signal analysis has been the subject of several studies due to its ability to provide an objective mode of recording brain stimulation, which is widely used in brain-computer interface research with applications in medical diagnosis and rehabilitation engineering. In this study, we developed EEG reception hardware to measure electroencephalograms and implemented a processing system, classifying it into server and data processing. It was conducted as an intermediate-stage research on the implementation of a brain-computer interface using electroencephalograms, and was implemented in the form of predicting the user's arm movements according to measured electroencephalogram data. Electroencephalogram measurements were performed using input from four electrodes through an analog-to-digital converter. After sending this to the server through a communication process, we designed and implemented a system flow in which the server classifies the electroencephalogram input using a convolutional neural network model and displays the results on the user terminal.

In this paper, we proposed a hardware(H/W) structure which can compress and recontruct the input image in real time operation and implemented it into a FPGA platform using VHDL(VHSIC Hardware Description Language). All the image processing element to process both compression and reconstruction in a FPGA were considered each of them was mapped into H/W with the efficient structure for FPGA. We used the DWT(discrete wavelet transform) which transforms the data from spatial domain to the frequency domain, because use considered the motion JPEG2000 as the application. The implemented H/W is separated to both the data path part and the control part. The data path part consisted of the image processing blocks and the data processing blocks. The image processing blocks consisted of the DWT Kernel fur the filtering by DWT, Quantizer/Huffman Encoder, Inverse Adder/Buffer for adding the low frequency coefficient to the high frequency one in the inverse DWT operation, and Huffman Decoder. Also there existed the interface blocks for communicating with the external application environments and the timing blocks for buffering between the internal blocks The global operations of the designed H/W are the image compression and the reconstruction, and it is operated by the unit of a field synchronized with the A/D converter. The implemented H/W used the 69%(16980) LAB(Logic Array Block) and 9%(28352) ESB(Embedded System Block) in the APEX20KC EP20K600CB652-7 FPGA chip of ALTERA, and stably operated in the 70MHz clock frequency. So we verified the real time operation of 60 fields/sec(30 frames/sec).

Recently, the eddy current testing(ECT), alternating current field testing, magnetic flux leakage testing and remote field testing have been used as a nondestructive evaluation method based on the electromagnetic induction phenomenon. The eddy current testing is now widely accepted as a NDE method for the heat exchanger tube in the electric power industry, chemical, shipbuilding, and military. The ECT system mainly consists of the synthesizer module, analog module, analog-to-digital converter, power supplier, and data acquisition and analysis program. In the previous study, the synthesizer module and the analog module which is essential to the ECT system were primarily developed, and in this study the data acquisition and analysis program were developed. The operation system for this program is based on the Windows 7, and optimized for the Korean users, and the specific feature of this program using setup wizard enables inspector to make a setup easily for acquisition and analysis of ECT data. In this paper, the configuration and functions of eddy current data acquisition and analysis program will be introduced.

This paper implements a long-term monitoring system (LMS) for ship's engine performance analysis (SEPA) based on the web, for the purpose of the communication speed and engine maintenance. This system is composed of a simulator, monitoring module with a multi channel A/D converter, monitoring computer, network attached storage (NAS), RS485 serial and wireless internet communication system. The existing products monitor the information transmitted from pressure sensors installed in the upper parts of each of engines in the local or web computer, but have a delay in the communication speed and errors in long-term monitoring due to the large volume of sampling pressure data. To improve these problems, the monitoring computer saves the sampling pressure data received from the pressure sensors in NAS, monitors the long-term sampling data generated by the sectional down sampling method on a local computer, and transmits them to the web for long-term monitoring. Because this method has one tenth of the original sampling data, it will use memory with small capacity, save communication cost, monitor the long-term sampling data for 30 days, and as a result, make a great contribution to engine maintenance.
In geophysical field surveys, commercial equipments often fail to resolve the subsurface target or even sometimes fail to be applied because they do not fit to the various field situations or the physical properties of the medium or target. We developed a geophysical measurement system, which can be easily adapted for the various field situations and targets. The system based on PXI with A/D converter and some stand alone equipment such as Network Analyzer was applied to borehole radar survey, borehole sonic measurement and electromagnetic noise measurement. The system for borehole radar survey consists of PXI, Network Analyzer, dipole antennas, GPIB interface is used for PXI to control Network Analyzer. The system for borehole sonic measurement consists of PXI, 24 Bit A/D converter, high voltage pulse generator, transmitting and receiving piezoelectric sensors. The electromagnetic noise measurement system consists of PXI, 24 Bit A/D converter, 2 horizontal component electric field sensors and 2 horizontal and 1 vertical component magnetic filed sensors. The borehole radar system has been successfully applied to detect the width of the artificial tunnel through which the borehole pass and to image buried steel pipe, while the commercial borehole radar equipment failed. The borehole sonic system was tested to detect the width of artificial tunnel and showed a reasonable result. The characteristic of electromagnetic noise was grasped at an urban area with the data from the electromagnetic noise measurement system. The system is also applied to characterize the signal distortion by induction between the electric cables in resistivity survey. The system can be applied various geophysical problems with a simple modification of the system and sensors.

In this paper, we proposed a readout circuit of pulse waveform and rate for a U-health system to monitor health condition. For long-time operation without replacing or charging a battery, either pulse waveform or pulse rate is selected as the output data of the proposed readout circuit according to health condition of a user. The proposed readout circuit consists of a simple digital logic discriminator and a dual-mode ADC which operates in the ADC mode or in the count mode. Firstly, the readout circuit counts pulse rate for 4 seconds in the count mode using the dual-mode ADC. Health condition is examined after the counted pulse rate is accumulated for 1 minute in the discriminator. If the pulse rate is out of the preset normal range, the dual-mode ADC operates in the ADC mode where pulse waveform is converted into 10-bit digital data with the sampling frequency of 1 kHz. These data are stored in a buffer and transmitted by 620 kbps to an external monitor through a RF transmitter. The data transmission period of the RF transmitter depends on the operation mode. It is generally 1 minute in the normal situation or 1 ms in the emergency situation. The proposed readout circuit was designed with $0.11{\mu}m$ process technology. The chip area is $460{\times}800{\mu}m^2$. According to measurement, the power consumption is $161.8{\mu}W$ in the count mode and $507.3{\mu}W$ in the ADC mode with the operating voltage of 1 V.
The goal of this study is to implement a communication system that can monitor the status of the nacelle using the power cable itself, without the dedicated communication lines such as an UTP cable and optical fiber for the offshore wind turbine. An inductive coupling powerline communication system for a MW class offshore wind turbine was proposed and its communication performance was demonstrated. The inductive couplers was designed for operation at up to 500 A using a ferrite composite materials. Field test was carried out on the wind farms of Jeju island. Using the iperf communication test program, we have obtained more than 15 Mbps data transmission rate through the 100 m power cable that was installed between the nacelle and the bottom of the power converter. In the data transmission stability test for a week, there was no failure ever. The minimum transmission rate was 15 Mbps and the average data rate was about 20 Mbps. Next, we have installed an infrared camera inside the nacelle in order to measure the temperature distribution and variation of the nacelle. The real-time thermal image taken by the camera was successfully sent to the monitoring system without error.

Recently, the increase of loading amount on cargo ships due to the automation of loading process results in much complex ship operation. For this reason, NMEA-0183 based on RS-422,485 and NMEA-2000 based on CAN communication methods have been usually used as a standardized method in the marin electric interfacing equipments. In this paper, a general NMEA-0183 protocol was designed to support 7-channel NMEA-0183 serial communication data, which can receive 3-channel 16 bits ADC and 2-channel pulse using SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface). In particular, this method was designed for ship communication requires 7 important factors. Also in this study, using the minimization of the proposed method and realizing the monitoring system based on PC, the effectiveness of multichannel indicator system was proposed.
