ATM 망에서 웨이브릿 변환을 이용한 계층부호화 영상 전송에 관한 연구 (A Study on transmission of layered images using Wavelet transform over ATM)

  • ATM 기술과 패킷망의 발전에 따라 음성, 데이터, 영상 전송의 필요성이 증가되고 있다. ATM에서는 데이타 손실을 최소화하기 위하여 셀로 불리우는 일정길이의 데이타로 나누어 진다. ATM에서는 송신시 부호를 고정하지 않고 버리기 때문에 영상신호 전송에서는 계층부호화 방법을 사용한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 계층부호화 방법인 웨이브릿 변환을 이용한 부호화를 시뮬레이션 하였다.

A Reversible Audio Watermarking Scheme

  • A reversible audio watermarking algorithm is presented in this paper. This algorithm transforms the audio signal with the integer wavelet transform first in order to enhance the correlation between neighbor audio samples. Audio signal has low correlation between neighbor samples, which makes it difficult to apply difference expansion scheme. Second, a novel difference expansion scheme is used to embed more data by reducing the size of location map. Therefore, the difference expansion scheme used in this paper theoretically secures high embedding capacity under low perceptual distortion. Experiments show that this scheme can hide large number of information bits and keeps high perceptual quality.

  • We have implemented data compression and reconstruction by using a fast Walsh transform. The ECG signals were generated by an ECG BimLllator (KONT- RON). The sampling frequency was 480 Hz and the data point number used was 512. In order to eliminate the 60 Hz noise and baseline drift, a digital notch filter was designed. We obtaine!1 a compression ratio of 5 : 1 and at this ratio it was possible to obtain a true diagnosis and an ECG morphology analysis.

Energy Feature Normalization for Robust Speech Recognition in Noisy Environments

  • In this paper, we propose two effective energy feature normalization methods for robust speech recognition in noisy environments. In the first method, we estimate the noise energy and remove it from the noisy speech energy. In the second method, we propose a modified algorithm for the Log-energy Dynamic Range Normalization (ERN) method. In the ERN method, the log energy of the training data in a clean environment is transformed into the log energy in noisy environments. If the minimum log energy of the test data is outside of a pre-defined range, the log energy of the test data is also transformed. Since the ERN method has several weaknesses, we propose a modified transform scheme designed to reduce the residual mismatch that it produces. In the evaluation conducted on the Aurora2.0 database, we obtained a significant performance improvement.

  • Spin coaters are the essential instruments in micro-fabrication processes, which apply uniform thin films to flat substrates. In this research, a spin coater diagnosis system is developed to detect the abnormal operation of TFT-LCD process in real time. To facilitate the real-time data acquisition and analysis, the circular-buffered continuous data transfer and the short-time Fourier transform are applied to the fault diagnosis system. To determine whether the system condition is normal or not, a steady-state detection algorithm and a frequency spectrum comparison algorithm using confidence interval are newly devised. Since abnormal condition of a spin coater is rarely encountered, algorithm is tested on a CD-ROM drive and the developed program is verified by a function generator. Actual threshold values for the fault detection are tuned in a spin coater in process.

Using multi-type sensor measurements for damage detection of shear connectors in composite bridges under moving loads

  • This paper proposes using the multi-type sensor vibration measurements, such as from a relative displacement sensors and a traditional accelerometer for the damage detection of shear connectors in composite bridge under moving loads. Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) spectra of these responses will be fused with a data fusion approach i.e., Dempster-Shafer method, to detect the damage of shear connectors. Experimental studies on a composite bridge model in the laboratory are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and performance of using the proposed approach in detecting the damage of shear connectors in composite bridges. Both undamaged and damaged scenarios are considered. The detection results with the data fusion of multi-type sensor measurements show a more reliable and robust performance and accuracy, avoiding the false identifications.

PAPR Reduction and BER Improvement for OFDM System using WH Transform and Data Grouping Technique

  • In this paper, we propose a novel OFDM-based system structure to reduce PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) and improve BER for OFDM system in which BER enhancement is obtainable based on WH (Walsh-Hadamard) transform to transmit concurrently each data symbol on all subcarriers so as to take advantage of frequency diversity and remedy the effect of channel's frequency-selectivity. By doing so, we also attain a low PAPR. Moreover, DGT (Data Grouping Technique) that is independent on the side information is also applied to further reduce PAPR. The simulation programs have been also performed to verify the validity of the proposed system.

A Low-Complexity 128-Point Mixed-Radix FFT Processor for MB-OFDM UWB Systems

  • In this paper, we present a fast Fourier transform (FFT) processor with four parallel data paths for multiband orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing ultra-wideband systems. The proposed 128-point FFT processor employs both a modified radix-$2^4$ algorithm and a radix-$2^3$ algorithm to significantly reduce the numbers of complex constant multipliers and complex booth multipliers. It also employs substructure-sharing multiplication units instead of constant multipliers to efficiently conduct multiplication operations with only addition and shift operations. The proposed FFT processor is implemented and tested using 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology with a supply voltage of 1.8 V. The hardware- efficient 128-point FFT processor with four data streams can support a data processing rate of up to 1 Gsample/s while consuming 112 mW. The implementation results show that the proposed 128-point mixed-radix FFT architecture significantly reduces the hardware cost and power consumption in comparison to existing 128-point FFT architectures.

Large Solvent and Noise Peak Suppression by Combined SVD-Harr Wavelet Transform

  • By utilizing singular value decomposition (SVD) and shift averaged Harr wavelet transform (WT) with a set of Daubechies wavelet coefficients (1/2, -1/2), a method that can simultaneously eliminate an unwanted large solvent peak and noise peaks from NMR data has been developed. Noise elimination was accomplished by shift-averaging the time domain NMR data after a large solvent peak was suppressed by SVD. The algorithms took advantage of the WT, giving excellent results for the noise elimination in the Gaussian type NMR spectral lines of NMR data pretreated with SVD, providing superb results in the adjustment of phase and magnitude of the spectrum. SVD and shift averaged Haar wavelet methods were quantitatively evaluated in terms of threshold values and signal to noise (S/N) ratio values.

  • This paper proposes a new protective relaying algorithm using ACI(Advanced Computational Intelligence) and wavelet transform. To organize the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm, it is important to select target data reflecting various transformer transient states. These data are made of changing-rates of D1 coefficient and RSM value within half cycle after fault occurrence. Subsequently, the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm is obtained by converging the target data. As a result of applying the advanced neuro-fuzzy algorithm, discrimination between internal fault and inrush is correctly distinguished within half cycle after fault occurrence. Accordingly, it is evaluated that the proposed algorithm can effectively protect a transformer by correcting discrimination between winding fault and inrushing state.
