  • In a distributed machine learning system, sharing gradients was considered safe because it did not share original training data. However, recent studies found that malicious attacker could completely restore the original training data from shared gradients. Gradient Leakage Attack is a technique that restoring original training data by exploiting theses vulnerability. In this study, we present the image transformation method based on Discrete Cosine Transform to defend against the Gradient Leakage Attack on the federated learning setting, which training in local devices and sharing gradients to the server. Experiment shows that our image transformation method cannot be completely restored the original data from Gradient Leakage Attack.

  • We use principal component analysis (PCA) to identify exons of a gene and further analyze their internal structures. The PCA is conducted on the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) based on the 64 codon sequences and the 4 nucleotide sequences. By comparing to independent component analysis (ICA), we can differentiate between the exon and intron regions, and how they are correlated in terms of the square magnitudes of STFTs. The experiment is done on the gene F56F11.4 in the chromosome III of C. elegans. For this data, the nucleotide based PCA identifies the exon and intron regions clearly. The codon based PCA reveals a weak internal structure in some exon regions, but not the others. The result of ICA shows that the nucleotides thymine (T) and guanine (G) have almost all the information of the exon and intron regions for this data. We hypothesize the existence of complex exon structures that deserve more detailed analysis.

  • To meet the usage of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) on potable devices, this paper implements 2-level DWT using a reference many-core processor architecture and determine the optimal many-core processor. To explore the optimal many-core processor, we evaluate the impacts of a data-per-processing element ratio that is defined as the amount of data mapped directly to each processing element (PE) on system performance, energy efficiency, and area efficiency, respectively. This paper utilized five PE configurations (PEs=16, 64, 256, 1,024, and 4,096) that were implemented in 130nm CMOS technology with a 720MHz clock frequency. Experimental results indicated that maximum energy and area efficiencies were achieved at PEs=1,024. However, the system area must be limited 140mm2 and the power should not exceed 3 watts in order to implement 2-level DWT on portable devices. When we consider these restrictions, the most reasonable energy and area efficiencies were achieved at PEs=256.

  • In this paper, the vibration of high speed trains and the irregularity of railway are examined using a wavelet-based frequency response function. To investigate their characteristics, non-stationary acceleration data are acquired and processed using the wavelet transform. Also, the railway irregularity is examined by acquiring the data from the on-board laser-based measurement system. The correlation between the train vibration and the railway irregularity has been investigated. From the analysis, the wavelet-based frequency response function is a promised method for the dynamic characteristics of high speed trains.

  • In this paper presents the portable wireless ECG data detection and diagnosis system based on discreet wavelet transform. An algorithm based on wavelet transform suitable for real time implementation has been developed in order to detect ECG characteristics. In particular, QRS complex, S and T waves may be distinguished form noise, baseline drift or artifacts. Proposed telemetry system that a transmitting media using radio frequency(RF) for the middle range measurement of the physiological signals and receiving media using optical for electromagnetic interference problem. A standard hi-directional serial communication interface between the telemetry system and a personal computer or laptop, allows read-time controlling, diagnosing and monitoring of system. A portable telemetry system within a size. of 65${\times}$125${\times}$45mm consists of three parts: a digital signal processing part for physiological signal detect or diagnose, RF transmitter for data transfer and a optical receiver for command receive. Advantages of proposed telemetry system is wireless middle range(50m) FM transmission, reduce electromagnetic interference to a minimum. which enables a comfortable diagnosis system at home.

  • A continuous and reliable electrical energy supply is the objective of any power system operation. A transmission line is the part of the power system where faults are most likely to happen. This paper describes the use of wavelet transform for analyzing power system fault transients in order to determine the fault location. Synchronized sampling was made possible by precise time receivers based on GPS time reference, and the sampled data were analyzed using wavelet transform. This paper describes a fault location monitoring system and fault locating algorithm with GPS, DSP processor, and data acquisition board, and presents some experimental results and error analysis.

  • The Fourier-Mellin transform is the theoretical basis for the translation, rotation, and scale invariance of an image. However, its implementation requires a log-polar map of the original image, which requires logarithmic sampling of a radial variable in that image. This means that the mapping process is accompanied by considerable loss of data. To solve this problem, we propose a dual log-polar map that uses both a forward image map and a reverse image map simultaneously. Data loss due to the forward map sub-sampling can be offset by the reverse map. This is the first step in creating an invertible log-polar map. Experimental results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose wavelet transform image compression method using shuffling and bit plane correlation. Proposed method is that original image decompose into multiresolutions using biorthogonal wavelet transform with linear phase response property and decomposed subbands are classified by maximum classification gain. And classified data sets in each subband are quantized using arbitrary set optimum bit allocation method. Quantized data sets in each subband are shuffled and context based bit plane arithmetic encoded .In context based bit plane arithmetic encoding, the context for each subband is not assigned uniformly, but assigned according to maximum correlation direction. Our results are comparable, or superior for some images at low rates, to published state-of-the-art coders.

  • In this paper, it is discussed that the detection and tracking performance of the piecewise linear path underwater target is improved using clutter reduction algorithm in heavy clutter density environment. Through clutter reduction algorithm using Hough Transform, measurements which represent clutter features are removed and the performance of target tracking on the remaining measurements is demonstrated applying CMKF-L(Converted Measurement Kalman Filter with Linearization) as tracking filter. Algorithm performance test is conducted using simulation data and real sea-trial data and by applying the proposed algorithm in heavy clutter density environment, it is confirmed that the target is tracked consistently and stably with clutter rejected measurements.

  • Since digital hologram includes an amount of data as can be seen at the process of digitization, it is necessary that the data representing digital hologram is reduced for storing, transmission, and processing. As the efforts that are to handle hologram with a type of digital information have been increased, various methods to compress digital hologram called by fringe pattern are groped. Suitable proposal is encoding of digital hologram. This paper analyzed the properties of digital hologram using tools of frequency transform, assuming that a generated digital hologram is a 2D image by introducing Fresnel Transform. The analysis results of digital hologram to be proposed in this paper are being expected to be used as the core techniques for an encoding of digital hologram.
