  • Random reference wave can be used to enhance selectivity and storage density of holograms. Hologram recording schemes with random reference waves generated by using a ground glass or various types of optical fibers are discussed. The random reference waves are also suitable for hybrid multiplexing methods.

  • We have installed the borehole seismic recording system at Hyodongri in eastern part of Kyungsan Basin, which has the advantages of reduction in noise by human activities and distorting effects of near-surface rocks. Here we describe briefly the borehole seismic station and recording system. And we analyse the characteistics of back ground the station obtained from borehole sensors. The back ground noise level in time domain is about 50~100$\mu$cm/sec. The average curve of noise spectrum is lower than NHNM(New High Noise Model)of GSN(Global Seismic Network)operated by USGS. The results could be useful prior information for study on earthquake records observed at Hydongri station.

  • The systems with probe and SIL(Solid Immersion Lens) mechanisms have been researched as the technology to perform NFR(Near Field Recording). Most of them use the flying head mechanism to accomplish high recording density and fast data transfer rate. In this paper, ABS shape of flying head was optimized with the object of securing the maximum compliance ability of OFH. We suggest low different optimization processes to predict the static flying characteristics for the OFH. Two different approximation methods, regression analysis and back propagation neural network were used. And we compared the result of directly connected(between CAE and optimizer) method and two approximated optimization results. Design Optimization Tool(DOT) and ${\mu}GA$ were used as the optimizers.

  • In this paper, an evaluation of intelligent CCTV system is proposed with recording and implementation video and video DB. Videos for evaluation are recorded by dividing far, mid and near zone. Video DB has video recording information, detection area, and ground truth in XML format. A video annotation tool is proposed to make ground truth effectively in this paper. A video annotation tool writes ground truths of videos and includes evaluation comparing system alarms with ground truths.

  • For higher recording density in optical data storage, near field optics is being actively researched as one of the promising alternatives. But the tight assembling tolerance in NFR is one of big barriers to overcome for the realization of it. In this paper, the tolerances in assembling optic components of NFR system are analyzed. Some of key tolerances can be loosened by the optimization of objective lens design. But one of them become too tight by the optimization and should be controlled by other means. One of possible methods to control the tolerance is discussed.

  • Track geometry changes by traffic loads. The bigger the changes are, the worse the riding comfort and running stability of train. This is so-called track irregularity and is the most important quality parameters of ballasted track. To objectively assess track irregularity, track geometry should be able to be measured. Practically, railway companies in Korea use normal distribution as probability distribution of track irregularity. But some countries use non-normal distribution according to their own track recording system. In this report, reviewed probability distribution of Kyung-Bu high-speed line and tested normality.

  • A semiconductor microelectrode array has been successfully used in obtaining single unit recordings from medial giant nerve of clay fish, rat saphenous nerve and abdominal ganglia of aplysia. The recording device fabricated using silicon microfabrication techniques is a depth-probe type and, previously, has been mostly used to record from central nerve system of vertebrates. From invertebrates, and also from peripheral nerves of vertebrates, however, the quality of the recorded signal depends heavily on the recording conditions, such as the proximity of the electrode site to the nerve cells and the size of the neuron. We have modeled the signal to noise ratio as unctions of these parameters and compared the experimental data with the calculated values thus obtained.

  • Spatial light modulators (SLMs) are centrally important devices in volumetric recording, data Processing, Pattern recognition and other optical systems. Various types of reusable SLMs with two-dimensional pixel arrays have been intensively developed. Of these, magneto-optic spatial light modulators (MOSLMs) have advantages of high switching speed, robustness, nonvolatility, and radioactive resistance. In this article, we review recent development work on MOSLMs, mainly in relation to our own studies.

  • Recent catastrophic accidents at the underground subway stations in South Korea have proven that the subway evacuation is an important safety concern. Previous studies have used commercial programs for safety assessment or have been focused on development of computing algorithms rather than the basic analysis data which form the foundation of studies. In this study, we designed a new movement recording apparatus which measured and analyzed crowd movements including but not limited to moving velocity, specific flow rate and crowd density. Moreover, We propose new effective analysis method for evacuation studies with this apparatus.

  • Freight and passenger transport operators must converts the operation records of digital operation recording device (Digital Tachograph) that is mounted on their vehicle in a certain format, and report them to governmental agencies. However, for most of the individual carrier who cannot access a computer environment easily and are not familiar with the use of computer, it has given a big inconvenience to them because the procedures for entering the data obtained from the operation are so complicate. Therefore, in this study, a mobile system for converting the operation record file to request form of a government agency is designed and developed, so that the converted file can be submitted to the government agency in a simple way through the personal mobile device. By entering the data obtained from an actual operation recording device into the system, converting the data in the proposed algorithms, and checking the contents of the converted file in data viewer, it was confirmed that the proposed functions is working properly in the system.
