Design of compact phase controller for pulse tube refrigerator

  • A compact phase controller of pulse tube refrigerator is proposed in this paper. Most pulse tube refrigerators available now consist of a long inertance tube and reservoir as the phase controller. The long inertance tube and reservoir present a challenge for compact packaging in some applications. To overcome this disadvantage, the long inertance tube and reservoir are replaced with the compact phase controller consisted of mass, spring and damper in pulse tube refrigerator. This process is achieved using similarity of mechanical, electrical, and acoustic system and the specific configuration of the compact phase controller is designed. From the simulation code in this paper, the performance of pulse tube refrigerator with the designed compact phase controller is confirmed to be comparable to pulse tube refrigerator with the long inertance tube and reservoir.

  • The rotating of rotatory unit with its structural unbalance mass and laundry is making the main vibration problem in a vertical axis washing machine. For reducing vibration problem total washing system hung on the case by its suspension system which is constitute of spring, damper and suspension bar and hydraulic balancer is attached at the upper rim of spin basket. In this paper, we make the dynamic model of washing system of its rigid body motions by 6 degree of freedoms. Hydraulic balancer is modeled by one degree of freedom like auto ball balancer. Elastic motions of washing system have found by method of analytic, experimental and FEM. And we consider first bending mode of each suspension bar and first circumferential mode of assy tub. So, the total washing system is modeled by 12 degree of freedoms. Equations of motion for total washing system have derived, and we perform the dynamic simulation tests.

  • The pulse detonation engine (PDE) has recently expected as a new aerospace propulsion system. The PDE system has high thermal efficiency because of its constant-volume combustion and its simple tube structure. We measured thrust of single-tube pulse detonation rocket (PDR) by two methods using the PDR-Engineering Model (full scale model) for ground testing. The first involved measuring the displacement of the PDR-EM by laser displacement meter, and the second involved measuring the time-averaged thrust by combining a load cell and a spring-damper system. From these two measurements, we obtained 130.1 N of time-averaged thrust, which corresponds to 321.2 sec of effective specific impulse (ISP). As well, we measured the heat flux in the wall of PDE tubes. The heat flux was approximately 400 ㎾/$m^2$. We constructed the PDR-Flight Mode] (PDR-FM). In the vertical flight test in a laboratory, the PDR-FM was flying and keeping its altitude almost constant during 0.3 sec.

  • In this study, the crashworthiness of KHST is evaluated by analysing a nonlinear spring/bar-damper-mass model using 1 dimensional collision dynamics. The numerical results show that KHST can easily absorb kinetic energy at lower impact force and acceleration in heavy collisions, when compared with KTX. Also, in a light collision like a traint-to-train accident at speed under 8 kph, the carbody and components of KHST can be protected without any damage except a energy absorbing tube to be replaced easily. However, KTX may be much damaged in the light collision because there is no energy absorbing tube. In conclusion, the crashworthy performance of KHST has been much improved than that of KTX, although there remains something to be improved for a better performance.

  • Before the Flap type GATE is introduced until, the Turnstile type GATE was plentifully used. The Turnstile type GATE is used plentifully from the Seoul metro, Busan Transportation Corporation and Korea Railroad Corporation. From the Turnstile type GATE, the micro switch breakdown is occurred by the contact of the micro switch which perceives a Turnstile rotation and the cam. The breakdown is cause of the passenger inconveniently. In order to prevent the breakdown which is caused by Micro switch contact, Microswitch support used the sensor in Turnstile rotation perception. The sensor which is used in test is Photo Sensor and Reed Sensor two type. The test result Reed Sensor was suitable in underground environment.   • The analysis of human arm motion during steering maneuver is carried out for investigation of man-machine interface of driver and steering system Each arm is modeled as interconnection of upper arm, lower arm, and hand by rotational joints that can properly represents permissible joint motion, and both arms are connected to a steering wheel through spring and damper at the contact points. The joint motion law during steering motion is determined through the measurement of each arm movement, and subsequent inverse kinematic analysis. Combining the joint motion law and inverse dynamic analysis, joint stiffness of arm is estimated. Arm dynamic analysis model for steering maneuver is setup, and is validated through the comparison with experimentally measured data, which shows relatively good agreement. To demonstrate the usefulness of the arm model, it is applied to study the effect of steering column angle on the steering motion.

Load Position and Residual Vibration Control of an Offshore Crane System Based on Input-Output Linearization Theory

  • In the offshore crane system, the requirements on the operating safety are extremely high due to many external factors. Rope extension is one of the factors producing vertical vibration of load. In this study, the load is carried by the motor-winch actuator control and the rope is modeled as a mass-damper-spring system. To control the load position and suppress the vertical vibration of the load, a control system based on input-output linearization method is proposed. By the simulation and experiment results with pilot crane model, the effectiveness of proposed control method is evaluated and verified.

복강경 수술용 도구의 실시간 영상 추적 및 복강경 조종기의 지능형 제어 방법 (Real-time Visual Tracking System and Control Method for Laparoscope Manipulator)

  • In this paper we present a new real-time visual servoing unit for laparoscopic surgery This unit can automatically control laparoscope manipulator through visual tracking of laparoscopic surgical tool. For the tracking, we present two-stage adaptive CONDENSATION(conditional density propagation) algorithm to extract the accurate position of the surgical tool tip from a surgical image sequence in real-time. This algorithm can be adaptable to abrupt change of laparoscope illumination. For the control, we present virtual damper system to control a laparoscope manipulator safely and stably. This system causes the laparoscope to move under constraint of the virtual dampers which are linked to the four sides of image. The visual servoing unit operates the manipulator in real-time with locating the surgical tool in the center of image. The experimental results show that the proposed visual tracking algorithm is highly robust and the controlled manipulator can present stable view with safe.

기초-지반 상호작용을 고려한 교량의 다지점 입력 지진해석 기법 (Seismic Response Analysis Method of Bridge Considering Foundation-Soil Interaction and Multi-support Input Motion)

  • This paper presents a seismic response analysis of bridge structures considering foundation-soil interaction and multi-support input motion. In the earthquake analysis of structures it is usually assumed that the input ground motion is the same at all supports. However, this assumption is not justified for long structures like bridges, because observations have shown the earthquake ground motion can vary considerably within relatively small distances. When the soil under the foundation is relatively soft and deep, analysis for foundation-soil interaction always must be peformed. To consider foundation-soil interaction, soil response analysis is preceded, and after determining the material characteristics of foundation element obtained by foundation-soil interaction analysis at the frequency domain, the seismic response analysis of bridge superstructure with the equivalent spring and damper is performed. Finally, influences of multi-support input motion, which are affected by different soil characteristics, are also considered in this paper.

Active Nonlinear Vibration Absorber for a Nonlinear System with a Time Delay Acceleration Feedback under the Internal Resonance, Subharmonic, Superharmonic and Principal Parametric Resonance Conditions Simultaneously

  • In this paper, dynamic analysis of a nonlinear active vibration absorber is conducted with a time delay acceleration feedback to suppress the vibration of a nonlinear single degree of freedom primary system. The primary system consisting of linear and nonlinear cubic springs, mass, and damper is subjected to the multi-harmonic hard excitation with a parametric excitation. It is proposed to reduce the vibration of the primary system and the absorber by using a lead zirconate titanate (PZT) stack actuator in series with a spring in the absorber which configures as an active vibration absorber. The method of multiple scales (MMS) is used to obtain the approximate solution of the system under the internal resonance, subharmonic, superharmonic, and principal parametric resonance conditions simultaneously. Frequency and time responses of the system are investigated considering a delay in the feedback for the various parameters of the absorber configuration and controlling force.
