음향방출 기법을 이용한 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 정량적 손상평가 (Quantitative Damage Evaluation of Fiber-Reinforced Cement Composite Using Acoustic Emission Technique)

  • 섬유는 가교작용에 의한 시멘트 복합체의 파괴를 조절할 수 있는 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 중요한 재료로 섬유의 혼입률에 따라 다른 파괴메커니즘을 나타내기도 한다. 일반적인 연구에서 섬유를 보강한 시멘트 매트릭스의 마 이크로 메커니즘에 대한 이해를 통하여 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 파괴거동을 평가할 필요가 있다. 이 연구에서는 섬 유보강 시멘트 복합체의 파괴거동을 평가하기 위하여, 반복압축, 휨하중 하에서 음향방출 기법에 의한 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 손상을 평가하고 분석하였다. 실험체는 PVA 섬유를 0, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0%를 치환한 총 4개의 실험체를 계획하였 다. 기존 연구의 경우 기본적인 AE 신호에 의한 분석 방법을 제시하고 있으나 이 연구에서는 이전 연구자들에 의해 제 시되었던 음향방출 기법을 이용한 정량적 손상평가를 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체에 적용하여 분석하였다. 펠리시티비에 의 한 손상평가의 경우 기존 연구 결과와 같이 모든 실험체에서 카이저 효과와 함께, 펠리시티비가 0.4~1.1로 나타나 펠리 시티비에 의한 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 손상 정도를 평가 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 또한 휨 실험체의 경우 손상 을 평가하기 위하여 calm ratio, b-value 및 felicity ratio를 사용하였다. 이 연구의 목적은 섬유보강 시멘트 복합체의 손 상을 평가하는데 있어 음향방출 기법을 활용한 정량적 손상평가 방법의 적용 가능성을 평가하고 차후 연구를 위한 기 본 데이터를 확보하고자 한다.

  • This study develops practical models and methods for the assessment of safety and capacity rating of existing P.C. girder bridges based on the reliability methods. One of the main objectives of the study is to propose a practical but realistic limit state model for safety assessment and LRFR rating criteria, which explicitly incorporates the degree of deterioration and damage as well as actual condition of P.C. girder bridges in terms of the damage factor and the response ratio. The damage factor proposed in the paper is defined as the ratio of the current estimated stiffness to the intact base-line stiffness of a member. Based on the observation and the results of applications to existing bridges, it may be concluded that the proposed methods for the assessment and capacity rating models, which explicitly account for the uncertainties and effects of degree of deterioration or damage, provide more realistic and consistent safety-assessment and capacity rating.

황등화강암을 이용한 암석의 손상기준 결정방법 연구 (The Optimal Method to Determine Damage Threshold of Rock using Hwangdeung Granite)

  • 암석의 손상상태를 평가하기위한 여러 방법들이 제안되어 있으나, 일부의 방법은 명확한 손상기준을 제시하기도 하지만 일부의 방법은 매우 모호하여 분석자의 주관에 따라 값이 달라지기도 한다. 그러므로 이 연구에서는 황등화강암을 대상으로 현재까지 제안된 모든 손상기준 결정방법을 적용하여, 각 방법의 적용성, 오차 및 최적의 손상기준결정 방법 등을 연구하였다. 또한 암석의 균열발달 및 파괴특성의 규명에 가장 중요한 손상기준인 균열개시응력과 균열손상응력을 FSR 및 장기 정하중 시험을 이용하여 검정하였다. 황등화강암의 균열닫힘응력과 균열개시응력은 각각 57.5 MPa, 77.6 MPa이며 균열체적변형률에서 측정하는 것이 가장 정확한 것으로 판단된다. 2차 균열개시응력은 90.6 MPa로 측정되었으며, 미소파괴음 계수 및 계수율이 균열개시응력의 측정에 가장 효과적인 것으로 판단된다. 균열결합응력 측정은 체적강성곡선, 미소파괴음 계수 및 미소파괴음 계수율이 가장 효과적인 방법으로 판단되며, 균열결합응력은 110.3 MPa이다. 균열손상응력은 체적강성곡선 및 미소파괴음 계수율에서 가장 명확히 측정되며, 약 127.5 MPa이다. 일축압축강도에 대한 비로서 나타낸 균열개시응력은 0.47로 FSR 값 0.46과 매우 유사하며, 균열손상응력은 0.77로 장기 정하중 시험을 통하여 측정된 장기 강도비 0.75~0.8과 거의 일치하여 균열개시응력 및 균열손상응력 값이 정확함을 검정하였다.

Multiple linear regression and fuzzy linear regression based assessment of postseismic structural damage indices

  • This paper studied the prediction of structural damage indices to buildings after earthquake occurrence using Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and Fuzzy Linear Regression (FLR) methods. Particularly, the structural damage degree, represented by the Maximum Inter Story Drift Ratio (MISDR), is an essential factor that ensures the safety of the building. Thus, the seismic response of a steel building was evaluated, utilizing 65 seismic accelerograms as input signals. Among the several response quantities, the focus is on the MISDR, which expresses the postseismic damage status. Using MLR and FLR methods and comparing the outputs with the corresponding evaluated by nonlinear dynamic analyses, it was concluded that the FLR method had the most accurate prediction results in contrast to the MLR method. A blind prediction applying a set of another 10 artificial accelerograms also examined the model's effectiveness. The results revealed that the use of the FLR method had the smallest average percentage error level for every set of applied accelerograms, and thus it is a suitable modeling tool in earthquake engineering.

Probabilistic earthquake risk consideration of existing precast industrial buildings through loss curves

  • In this study, the earthquake risk assessment of single-story RC precast buildings in Turkey was carried out using loss curves. In this regard, Kocaeli, a seismically active city in the Marmara region, and this building class, which is preferred intensively, were considered. Quality and period parameters were defined based on structural and geometric properties. Depending on these parameters, nine main sub-classes were defined to represent the building stock in the region. First, considering the mean fragility curves and four different central damage ratio models, vulnerability curves for each sub-class were computed as a function of spectral acceleration. Then, probabilistic seismic hazard analyses were performed for stiff and soft soil conditions for different earthquake probabilities of exceedance in 50 years. In the last step, 90 loss curves were derived based on vulnerability and hazard results. Within the scope of the study, the comparative parametric evaluations for three different earthquake intensity levels showed that the structural damage ratio values for nine sub-classes changed significantly. In addition, the quality parameter was found to be more effective on a structure's damage state than the period parameter. It is evident that since loss curves allow direct loss ratio calculation for any hazard level without needing seismic hazard and damage analysis, they are considered essential tools in rapid earthquake risk estimation and mitigation initiatives.

비선형 유한요소해석 기반 국내 고층아파트 외벽구조의 균열손상 특성 분석 (Crack Damages in Exterior Wall Structures of Korean High-Rise Apartment Buildings Based on Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis)

  • Recently, in newly constructed apartment buildings, the exterior wall structures have been characterized by thinness, having various openings, and a significantly low reinforcement ratio. In this study, a nonlinear finite element analysis was performed to investigate the crack damage characteristics of the exterior wall structure. The limited analysis models for a 10-story exterior wall were constructed based on the prototype apartment building, and nonlinear static analysis (push-over analysis) was performed. Based on the finite element (FE) analysis model, the parametric study was conducted to investigate the effects of various design parameters on the strength and crack width of the exterior walls. As the parameters, the vertical reinforcement ratio and horizontal reinforcement ratio of the wall, as well as the uniformly distributed longitudinal reinforcement ratio and shear reinforcement ratio of the connection beam, were addressed. The analysis results showed that the strength and deformation capacity of the prototype exterior walls were limited by the failure of the connection beam prior to the flexural yielding of the walls. Thus, the increase of wall reinforcement limitedly affected the failure modes, peak strengths, and crack damages. On the other hand, when the reinforcement ratio of the connection beams was increased, the peak strength was increased due to the increase in the load-carrying capacity of the connection beams. Further, the crack damage index decreased as the reinforcement ratio of the connection beam increased. In particular, it was more effective to increase the uniformly distributed longitudinal reinforcement ratio in the connection beams to decrease the crack damage of the coupling beams, regardless of the type of the prototype exterior walls.

Analysis of the adhesive damage between composite and metallic adherends: Application to the repair of aircraft structures

  • In bonded composite repair of aircraft structures, the damage of the adhesive can thus reduce significantly the efficiency and the durability of the bonded composite repair. The adhesive damage models using critical zone have proven their effectiveness due to simplicity and ap-plicability of the damage criteria in these models. The scope of this study is to analyze the effects of the patch thickness and the adhesive thickness on the damage damage in bonded composite repair of aircraft structures by using modified damage zone theory. The obtained results show that, when the thickness of adhesive increases the damage zone increases and the adhesive loses its rigidity, inversely when the patch is reduced the adhesive damage be-comes more significant.

인장-비틀림 하중에 의한 섬유강화 복합재료의 피로수명 예측 (Fatigue Life Prediction of FRP Composites under Uniaxial Tension and Pure Torsion Loadings)

  • A fatigue damage accumulation model based on the continuum damage mechanics theory was developed where modulus decay ratios in tension and shear were used as indicators for damage variables D. In the model, the damage variables are considered to be second-order tensors. Then, the maximum principal damage variable, $D^*$ is introduced. According to the similarity to the principal stress, $D^*$ is obtained as the maximum eigen value of damage tensor [D]. Under proportional tension and torsion loadings, fatigue lives were satisfactorily predicted at any combined stress ratios using the present model in which the Fatigue characteristics only under uniaxial tension and pure torsion loadings were needed. Fatigue life prediction under uniaxial tension and pure torsion loadings, was performed based on the damage mechanics using boundary element method.

다차원 홍수피해산정방법을 이용한 도시지역의 홍수피해액 산정 (Application of Multi-Dimensional Flood Damage Analysis for Urban Flood Damage)

  • 우리나라에서는 치수사업을 추진하기 위한 경제성 분석으로 간편법과 개선법을 사용하여 오다가 현재는 2004년도에 개발된 다차원법(다차원 홍수피해 산정방법(Multi-Dimensional Flood Damage Analysis))을 이용하고 있다. 다차원법은 도시와 농촌 등의 구분없이 일반적으로 이용할 수 있도록 개발되었는데 본 논문에서는 도시지역에 적합하도록 다차원법의 홍수피해 산정 요소들을 보정하여 적용하고자 하였다. 즉, 다차원법에서 제시하고 있는 피해액 산정 항목들 중 도시지역 분석을 위해 일부를 보정 또는 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 제안하는 항목은 배수펌프장의 내수배제능력을 고려해 침수모의를 수행하여 침수 예상지역에 대한 침수심을 산정하는 것이다. 그리고 보정한 항목으로는 산업지역의 피해, 공공시설물의 피해율 등에 대한 것으로 도시지역의 피해액 산정을 위해 수정하여 적용하였다. 도림천의 지하방수로 사업의 비용-편익비를 산정하여 비교한 결과, 다차원법을 이용한 경우 5.51, 본 연구에서 제시한 비주거지역 자산과 공공시설물의 피해율을 이용한 경우는 6.75의 비용-편익비를 추정할 수 있었다. 이는 피해액 항목들 중, 많은 비중을 차지하는 공공시설물피해 항목에 의한 영향의 크기 때문인 것으로 판단된다.

잠제의 전달율과 안정성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental study on transmission and stability of submerged breakwater)

  • As the 2-D hydraulic experimental results for the submerged rubble-mound structure, we have concerned with their stability/function characteristics of structures by the effects of wave force, scour/deposition at the toe and wave transmission ratio at the lee-side sea. And as to investigate the variation characteristics of wave transmission ratio which depended to a geometrical structure of the submerged breakwater profiles, the critical conditions for the depth of submergence and crest width obviously presented. In summary, there results lead us to the conclusions that the wave control capabilities of submerged breakwaters by the variation of the submergence depth is high about 4 time degrees at the efficiency than the that of crest width. The destruction of covering block at the crest generated at the region which located between maximum damage curve, it maximum damage/failure station from the toe of the structure were 0.2L. As the wave transmission coefficient and the slope of the structure increase, the damage/failure ratio and the maximum scour depth at the toe was extended, respectively. When maximum scour depth happened. The destruction of covering block which located at the toe generated at the front slope destruction. Finally, it was found from the results that the optimization of structure may be obtained by the efficiently decision of the submergence depth and crest width in the permissible range of wave transmission ratio.
