Analysis of Aroma Compounds of Cinnamon by Solid Phase Microextraction (Solid Phase Microextraction을 이용한 계피의 향기성분 분석)

  • The volatile components of cinnamon bark were extracted by using different isolation methods, simultaneous distillation extraction (SDE) and solid phase microextraction (SPME). Then the volatile components were analyzed by gas chromatography(GC) and mass selective detector(MSD). 30 compounds were identified in cinnamon bark. In SPME technique, several factors influencing the equilibrium of the aroma compounds between sample and SPME fiber was taken into account, including the kind of SPME fiber, extraction temperature and extraction time. Four different SPME fibers were tested, namely polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), poly acrylate(PA), divinyl- benzene-carboxen-polydimethylsiloxane (DVB/CAR/PDMS) and carbowax/divinylbenzene(CW/DVB). Among these SPME fiber, PDMS coating fiber showed the best results. The profile of volatile compounds of cinnamon bark at different extraction temperature and extraction time were investigated by 100$\mu\textrm{m}$ PDMS fiber.

A Robust TDMA Frame Structure and Initial Synchronization in Satellite Communication (위성통신을 위한 강인한 TDMA Frame 구조 및 초기동기 기법)

  • A TDMA system in satellite communication has been utilized. Especially DVB-S2 was standardized and now operated in satellite broadcasting system. In this paper, we propose a TDMA frame structure appropriate for special purpose which has the good reliablilty in a poor RF environment even if frequency efficiency is decreased. TDMA frame duration is 12 seconds which is long duration in comparison with general TDMA system with several ms. Designing the frame structure, time and frequency shift in single frame duration are considered. Simulation results show that the proposed frame structure and synchronization method has robust synchronization performance when the terminal is even in low SNR as well as 25 kHz frequency offsets.

A Generator of 64~8,192-point FFT/IFFT Cores with Single-memory Architecture for OFDM-based Communication Systems (OFDM 기반 통신 시스템용 단일 메모리 구조의 64~8,192점 FFI/IFFFT 코어 생성기)

  • This paper describes a core generator (FCore_Gen) which generates Verilog-HDL models of 640 different FFT/IFFT cores with selected parameter value for OFDM-based communication systems. The generated FFT/IFFT cores are based on in-place single memory architecture and use a hybrid structure of radix-4 and radix-2 DIF algorithm to accommodate various FFT lengths. To achieve both memory reduction and the improved SQNR, a conditional scaling technique is adopted, which conditionally scales the intermediate results of each computational stage. The cores synthesized with a $0.35-{\mu}m$ CMOS standard cell library can operate with 75-MHz@3.3-V, and a 8,192-point FFT can be computed m $762.7-{\mu}s$, thus the cores satisfy the specifications of wireless LAN, DMB, and DVB systems.

  • In next generation satellite broadcasting system, requirement of high throughput efficiency has been increasing continuously. To increase throughput efficiency and improve bit error performance simultaneously, FTN method and LDPC codes are employed in new sattelite standard, DVB-S3 system. This paper considered three kinds of methods for increase throughput efficiency. Firstly, as conventional one, high coding rate parity matrix in LDPC encoder is considered. Secondly, punctured coding scheme which delete the coded symbols according to appropriate rules is considered. Lastly, FTN method which transmit fater than Nyquist rate is considered. Among of three kinds of methods, FTN method is most efficient in aspect to performance while maintain same throughput efficiency.

  • Resins were synthesized by mixing 1-aza-15-crown-5 macrocyclic ligand attached to styrene (a hazardous material) divinylbenzene (DVB) copolymer with crosslink of 1%, 2%, 5% and 20% by a substitution reaction. The characteristic of these resins was confirmed by the content of chlorine, element analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), surface area (BET), and IR-spectroscopy. The effects of pH, time, dielectric constant of solvents and crosslink on adsorption of metal ions by the synthetic resin adsorbent were investigated. The metal ion was showed a fast adsorption on the resins above pH 3. The optimum equilibrium time for adsorption of metallic ions was about two hours. The adsorption selectivity determined in ethanol was in increasing order of uranium ($UO_2^{2+}$) > manganese ($Mn^{2+}$) > praseodymium ($Pr^{3+}$). The adsorption was in the order of 1%, 2%, 5%, and 20% crosslink resin and adsorption of resin decreased in proportion to the order of dielectric constant of solvents.

  • The sulfonated ion exchange fibers were synthesized by $Co^{60}\;{\gamma}-ray$ radiation-induced graft copolymerization. Degree of grafting was increased with increasing the total dose. The degree of grafting for POF-g-St/DVB copolymer was 1000%. The ion exchange capacity of sulfonated ion exchange fibers were increased by increasing the degree of sulfonation. Its maximum value was 5.06 meq/g. The ion exchange capacity of sulfonated POF- co-St/DVB ion exchange fiber was higher than that of the sulfonated POF- co-styrene ion exchange fibers. The amount of adsorption for heavy metals were also increased with increase in the degree of grafting of the ion exchange fibers.

A Drama Bound Data Service Providing the Updated Information on Characters based on Scenes (장면 별 등장인물의 업데이트 정보를 제공하는 드라마 연동 데이터 서비스 설계)

  • A drama, generally composed of dozens of times, is one of the most popular broadcasting program genres, and it has the characteristics that the status and interrelationships of characters are changing as time goes on and important acts affecting the story occur sporadically. Therefore, when viewers missed some times in the middle of a drama, it is difficult to understand the drama without the changed information on the characters and notable actions. This paper proposes a data service which provides the updated information of the characters and important acts based on the drama scene. The data service has the characteristics that it provides the information on the characters shown in the current drama scene, and the information about the people mentioned in the dialogue in the scene. This paper includes a general introduction to the data services, the formal definition of the drama scene identification and character information, and an DVB-SI-based method for transmitting the information to the data service.

Efficient FFT Algorithm and Hardware Implementation for High Speed Multimedia Communication Systems (고속 멀티미디어 통신시스템을 위한 효율적인 FFT 알고리즘 및 하드웨어 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient FFT algorithm for high speed multimedia communication systems, and present its pipeline implementation results. Since the proposed algorithm is based on the radix-4 butterfly unit, the processing rate can be twice as fast as that based on the radix-2$^3$ algorithm. Also, its implementation is more area-efficient than the implementation from conventional radix-4 algorithm due to reduced number of nontrivial multipliers like using the radix-23 algorithm. In order to compare the proposed algorithm with the conventional radix-4 algorithm, the 64-point MDC pipelined FFT processor based on the proposed algorithm was implemented. After the logic synthesis using 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ technology, the logic gate count for the processor with the proposed algorithm is only about 70% of that for the processor with the conventional radix-4 algorithm. Since the proposed algorithm can be achieve higher processing rate and better efficiency than the conventional algorithm, it is very suitable for the high speed multimedia communication systems such as WLAN, DAB, DVB, and ADSL/VDSL systems.

  • In this paper, we propose a RF front-end architecture based on hybrid conversion which is available to receive both broadband and multiband DVB-H receiver, and a multi-function circuit for implementing the RF front-end is fabricated. A multi-function circuit is operated as a sub-harmonic mixer mode in the case of receiving a broadband VHF/UHF band, which show a conversion loss of -10.0 dB, noise figure of 7.0 dB and IIP3 of 2.0 dBm. On the other hand, it is performed as a attenuation mode with a insertion loss of -10.0 dB in receiving a multiband, L-band.

  • In this paper, we propose a new hierarchical modulation scheme for DVB-NGH to improve the performance of LP (Low-Parity) signals by applying a conventional constellation-rotation method to the LP signals without virtually a loss of performance of a HP (High-Parity) signals. The improvement of the LP signals is mainly due to the increased divesity gain caused by the constellation-rotation method which barely affect the performance of the HP signals. For the new scheme, we also propose a hardware-efficient ML (Maximum-Likelihood) detection algorithm that first decodes the HP signals by using a conventional HP receiver, and then simply decodes the precoded LP signals based on the pre-detected HP signals.
