  • Monodisperse poly[styrene-co-(COPS-I)] latices in the size range of 165~550nm were successfully prepared by soap-free emulsion polymerization with various polymerization conditions (Styrene, COPS-I, KPS, DVB concentrations and polymerization temperature). In general, the COPS-I and KPS, DVB concentrations and polymerization temperature were closely related to the polymerization rate and the number of particles, molecular weight, and zeta potential. The polymerization rate and zeta potential increased, but molecular weight decreased, with increasing in the number of particles.

  • This paper is concerning about the demapping method using the pilots inserted in transmitter in COFDM(Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) demodulator which is the standard transmission method of terrestrial digital TV system in Europe(DVB-T). We have presented a simple and efficient method of CSI(Channel State Information) generation and demapping method using CSI. The CSI was derived from the pilot carriers inserted with comb-type among the received active carriers, which is defined as a SNR. From the simulation results for the 3 different constellations of the receiver, we could confirm that the system performance comparing with conventional soft decision method has been improved under DVB-T standard Rayleigh and Ricean fading channel.

  • A fully integrated multistandard multiband CMOS mobile TV tuner with small silicon area and low power consumption is proposed for receiving multiple mobile digital TV signals and FM signal. In order to reduce the silicon area of the multistandard multiband receiver, other RF front-end circuits except LNAs are shared and a local oscillator (LO) signal generation architecture with a single VCO for a frequency synthesizer is proposed. To reduce the low frequency noise and the power consumption, a vertical NPN BJT is used in an analog baseband circuits. The RF tuner IC is implemented in a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The RF tuner IC satisfies all specifications for DVB-H/T, T-DMB, and ISDB-T with a sufficient margin and a successful demonstration has been carried out for DVB-H/T, T-DMB, and ISDB-T with a digital demodulator.

  • The RF Module which can be adjusted for a digital terrestrial and multi standard(DVB-C, ISDB-T, DVB-H) reception is developed. The Module by single conversion does divide a broadband($45MHz{\sim}860MHz$) broadcasting channels into three-bands(UHF, VHF_HIGH, VHF_LOW) to satisfy some electrical performances such as image signal rejection, phase noise, IF flatness etc and digital reception specifications such as analog and digital adjacent channel protection, co-channel protection which is important in environment with co-existence both analog and digital broadcasting systems.

  • We investigate the design of an interpolation filter of a MF-TDMA demodulator which is applied to DVB-RCS. If sampling is not synchronized to the data symbols, timing adjustment in digital receiver must be performed by interpolation. It is impossible that conventional sinc interpolation filter coefficients are actually extended to infinity. We propose a Kaiser window interpolation filter and a sinc interpolation filter using th Kaiser window. Simulation results show that the performance improvement is realized by employing the proposed interpolation filter.

  • This paper proposes the specific code synchronization technique for DS-SS(Direct Sequence-Spread Spectrum transmission in the DVB-RCS +M standard. DS-SS is better than multi-carrier transmission method under nonlinear channel but imposes a long acquisition time. To improve the synchronization aspect, the robust correlation structure is introduced for acquisition and the nonlinear delay lock loop is done for tracking. MAT(Mean Acquisition Time) performances is shown to validate its superiority. In addition, code tracking and jitter performances are done when code tracking algorithm based on 2 oversamples which is not influenced by sampling clock timing offset and carrier freq. offset is used.

  • In this paper, we proposed high speed LDPC decoding algorithm based on DVB-S2 standard for applying marine communications in order to multimedia transmission. For implementing the high speed LDPC decoder, HSS algorithm which reduce the iteration numbers without performance degradation is applied. In HSS algorithm, check node update units are update at the same time of bit node update. HSS can be accelerated to the decoding speed because it does not need to separate calculation of the bit nodes, However, check node calculation blocks need many clocks because of just one memory is used. Therefore, this paper proposed partial memory structure in order to reduced the delay and high speed decoder is possible. The results of the simulation, when the max number of iteration set to 30 times, decoding throughput of HSS algorithm is 326 Mbit/s and decoding speed of proposed algorithm is 2.29 Gbit/s. So, decoding speed of proposed algorithm more than 7 times could be obtained compared to the HSS algorithm.

  • Recently terrestrial digital broadcasting systems have experienced a growth with the demand of high data rate. In order to meet such demand, the MIMO technology has received a wide attention. This paper proposes a pre-coding method, which provides high space channel correlation for the improved performance over terrestrial broadcasting channels when the polarized $2{\times}2$ MIMO SM is adopted for DVB-NGH systems. When signals with two different modulation orders are transmitted through two antennas, a method that is based on non-uniform power is also proposed for improved reception performance. To optimize the proposed method, phase shifting values for the pre-coding method and appropriate unequal power ratio are obtained. These obtained parameters are applied to a terrestrial broadcasting system, and then the performance improvement over the conventional SM is shown through computer simulations.

  • This paper presents a novel Viterbi decoding architecture for European Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) receiver. The channel sate information (CSI) of each sub carrier is used to weight the bit-metric of each symbol. The weighted bit-metric is delivered to Viterbi decoder after going through the symbol deinterleaver and bit deinterleaver, such that the CSI can be correctly applied to corresponding bits even after the two interleavings. Simulation shows that the new architecture gives significant performance enhancement of 6~13dB in Rayleigh fading channels depending on the modulation types. This results is also better than previous results by 3.7~10.3dB.

  • This paper presents a digital video broadcasting - terrestrial (DVB-T) receiver system based on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation method, which has exhibited a good reception performance even with obstacles and a mobile reception. As such, an improved OFDM receiver is developed for a DVB-T system that also considers function expansion for further development. After manufacturing the DVB-T receiver system, the performance of the proposed system is compared with three other hardware systems, all of which are end products. The experimental results confirm the performance using the measured minimum required carrier-to-noise ratio and threshold of visibility signal for each system. In addition, a graphic user interface (GUI) and electronic program guide (EPG) are developed for the digital television user.
