  • In this paper, each specimen blended at weight proportions of 80% HDPE to 20% EVA, 70% HDPE to 30% EVA, 60% HDPE to 40% EVA, and 50% HDPE to 50% EVA was manufactued respectively. FE-SEM, DSC and XRD analysis were carried out as the means of structural and chemical analysis. From the results of DSC and XRD analysis, the lower contents in blended specimens were, the higher melting temperature and crystallinity of main crystal were. It seems that the phenomena was attributes to themoplastic interpenetrating network effect(TPIPN) in which EVA having low melting point penetrated into HDPE. Also, from the decreasing tendeancy of melting point as a function of blend ration, it was confirmd that above resins have compatibility. The thermal and mechanical performance of proposed insulator were compared with conventional XLPE, main insulating material of CV cable. Also, validity was proved by superior and inferior factor respectively.

  • This study deals with effect of plasma treatment on the properties of unidirectional ligno cellulosic fabric Hildegardia Populofolia (HDP) fabric. Thermal stability of the fabric was determined by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Thermo gravimetric analysis (DSC). Morphological properties was analyzed by SEM analysis and found that the surface was rough upon plasma treatment which provides good interfacial adhesion with matrix during composite fabrication. Thermal stability and mechanical properties of the plasma treated fabric slightly increases compare to alkali and untreated fabric. It was observed that tensile properties of the fabric increases upon plasma treatment due to the formation of rough surface. SEM analysis indicates formation of rough surface on plasma treatment which helps in increasing the interfacial interaction between the matrix (hydrophobic) and fabric (hydrophilic).

  • Low temperature ${\delta}$-precipitation phenomenon below 2-step aging ($718^{\circ}C$, $8hr+621^{\circ}C$, 8 hr) temperature of cold drawn Inconel 718 alloy wire was investigated. The investigation was carried out on wires with a cold drawn ratio of 0, 20, 50 and 70% using OM, SEM, XRD, TEM, and DSC. In microstructures of 50 and 70% drawn wire, many precipitates were found along the grain boundaries and the twin boundaries in deformation band. From the results of the XRD and TEM analysis, the precipitates were identified as plate-like ${\delta}$-phase. From the results of the DSC analysis, it was also found that a temperature of ${\delta}$-precipitation decreases with an increase of the cold drawn ratio. We concluded that cold drawing of inconel 718 wire promotes the ${\delta}$-precipitation, and under the condition of a high drawing ratio, the ${\delta}$-phase could be precipitated at a temperature below the aging temperature ($718^{\circ}C$).

  • During the manufacturing process of a printed circuit board(PCB), fumes and mists are generated as the ink dries on the PCB surface. The generated fumes and mists are deposited in the dryer wall and the exhaust duct. Deposited fumes and mists may present a fire hazard if the dryer temperature control system fails. In this study, the thermal stability of the fumes and mists deposited in the dryer and ducts has been analyzed by experimental methods such as thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), auto ignition temperature (AIT), and multiple mode calorimetry(MMC). According to the experimental analyses, experimental samples are likely to generate gas at the temperature ($180{\sim}240^{\circ}C$) that deviates from the normal operating temperature ($150{\sim}156^{\circ}C$). It has been shown that the thermal stability is degraded when the temperature is deviated from the normal operating temperature. In the end, engineering and management safety measures of accidental prevention have been suggested.

  • Thermal Analyses are conducted to measure various factors of a liquid fuel required for numerical analysis. Thermal Analyses are divided into two different methods of TGA (Thermo Gravimetric Analysis) and DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry). Non-isothermal experimental results are analyzed using by TGA. The results are filtered by a Freeman Carroll method. At the same time, chemical parameters of unknown liquid fuel, activation temperature and reaction order are measured to 6128.2 K and 1.4, respectively. Furthermore, the parameters can be obtained by various mathematical methods. It is found that tha parameters depend on the processing method.

  • The snap cure NCP(non-conducive paste) adhesive material is essentially required for the high productivity flip chip bonding process. In this study, the accessibility of DEA(dielectric analysis) method for the evaluation of snap cure behavior was investigated with comparison to the isothermal DSC(differential scanning calorimetry) method. NCP adhesive was mainly formulated with epoxy resin and imidazole curing agent. Even though there were some noise in the dielectric loss factor curve measured by DEA, the cure start and completion points could be specified clearly through the data processing of cumulation and deviation method. Degree of cure by DEA method which was measured from the variation of the dielectric loss factor of adhesive material was corresponded to about 80% of the degree of cure by DSC method which was measured from the heat of curing reaction. Because the adhesive joint cured to the degree of 80% in the view point of chemical reaction reveals the sufficient mechanical strength, DEA method is expected to be used effectively in the estimation of the high speed curing behavior of snap cure type NCP adhesive material for flip chip bonding.

  • Thermal properties of EVA dust and its risks of coexisting with oxidizer were investigated by a pressure vessel. The decomposition of EVA dust with temperature using DSC and the weight loss with temperature using TGA were also investigated to find the thermal hazard of EVA dust. Using the pressure vessel which can estimate ignition and explosion of EVA dust coexisting with oxidizer by bursting of a rupture disc, many experiments have been conducted by varying the orifice diameter, heating rate, the weight ratio of the sample coexisting with oxidizer, and the species of oxidizer. According to the results of the thermal analysis of EVA dust, a little change of the decomposition initiation temperature with the heating rate could be found and the decomposition temperature zone of EVA dust was 250 to 50$0^{\circ}C$. The risk of EVA dust coexisting with oxidizer was increased as the orifice diameter was decreased. On the other hand, it was increased as the heating rate and the weight ratio of the sample coexisting with oxidizer were increased. In addition, the risk of EVA dust coexisting with oxidizer was affected by the decomposition temperature of the sample and oxidizer, respectively, at slow heating rate, but it was affected by the oxygen weight percent of oxidizer at fast heating rate.

  • In this study, in order to improve the ignitability of high energy aluminum powder, natural oxide films (alumina) were chemically removed, and instead nickel coat was applied. We used an electroless plating for nickel coating and confirmed quantitatively and qualitatively a time-dependent degree of nickel coating through analysis of surface by SEM/EDS. We also conducted element analysis by XRD and thermal properties by TGA/DSC in air oxidizer environment. There results explained the ignition enhancement mechanism of the nickel-coated aluminum powder in air. The difference between coated and un-coated aluminum powder, the effectiveness of coated powder has better ignitability.

  • Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and ion chromatography(IC) were employed to analyze the thermal behavior of $Li_xCoO_2$ cathode material of lithium ion battery. The mass loss peaks appearing between 60 and 125 ${^{\circ}C}$ in TGA and the exothermic peaks with 4.9 and 7.0 J/g in DSC around 75 and 85 ${^{\circ}C}$ for the $Li_xCoO_2$ cathodes of 4.20 and 4.35 V cells are explained based on disruption of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film. Low temperature induced HF formation through weak interaction between organic electrolyte and LiF is supposed to cause carbonate film disruption reaction, $Li_2CO_3\;+\;2HF{\rightarrow}\;2LiF\;+\;CO_2\;+\;H_2O$. The different spectral DSC/TGA pattern for the cathode of 4.5 V cell has also been explained. Presence of ionic carbonate in the cathode has been identified by ion chromatography and LiF reported by early researchers has been used for explaining the film SEI disruption process. The absence of mass loss peak for the cathode washed with dimethyl carbonate (DMC) implies ionic nature of the film. The thermal behavior above 150 ${^{\circ}C}$ has also been analyzed and presented.

  • When stored for long periods in a powder-based device (PMD), the explosive power in the device is aged and the explosive power is changed. Thus, The gunpowder used in the PMD must be chemically and physically stable for both internal and external factors. Since $BKNO_3$ and THPP are used as representative gunpowder, thermodynamic and kinetic analyzes were performed based on these gunpowders. Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) was used to analyze the calorific value and reaction rate. As a result, there was no significant change in caloric value and reaction rate in THPP. In addition, XPS and TEM-EDS analyzes were performed to confirm the formation of oxide films directly related to aging, and no oxide films were observed as a result of thermal analysis. In addition, XPS and TEM-EDS analyzes were performed to confirm the formation of oxide films directly related to aging. As a results, no oxide films were observed. It can be concluded that THPP is the most famous gunpowder in terms of long-term stability.
