A Study on the PN code Acquisition for DS/CDMA System over Phase-Error (위상 오류를 고려한 DS/CDMA 시스템의 PN 부호 획득에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the performance on the PN code acquisition of DS/CDMA system was analyzed using the Nakagami-m probability density function considered fading environment. The equations on detection probability, $P_D$ and false alarm probability, ($P_{FA}$, decision variables affecting the PN code acquisition time were derived and proved using simulation in order to analyze the performance. In conclusion, It was necessary increasing the gain of PLL for correcting phase errors and improving the acquisition performance of PN code in apply to the rake receiver.

  • The error rate equation of DS-CDMA/DQPSK skgnal adopting ARQ scheme has been derived in indoor radio channel which is characterized by AWGN, multi-user interference (MUI) and Rician fading, Using the derived equation the error performance has been evaluated and shown in figures as a function of direct to diffuse signal power ratio(KS1rT), the number of active users (K), PN code sequence length (N), the number of parity bit of linear code (b), forward channel BER, and ES1bT/NS1OT. From the results it is known that in severe fading environments (KS1rT=6) the performance of DS-CDMA/DQPSK system is not reliable so it is needed to adopt techniques for improvement. When an ARQ scheme is adopted, as a method for improving error performance, the performance improves compared with that of non-ARQ scheme and the degree of improvement is proportional to the number of parity bits of linear code. As increasing the number of parity bits, system performance is improved vut system throughput efficiency must be considered. In severe fading channel Hybrid ARQ scheme is more effective than ARQ scheme. As a result, ARQ scheme is appropriate for the high-reliability data communication systems over the radio channel in which the real time processing is not required.

  • Jamming is an important factor in the military satellite communication system. In this paper, link capacity and jamming margin of the DS-CDMA(Direct Sequence-Code Division Multiple Access) military satellite communication system are analyzed and calculated under a multitone jamming. The analysis was performed with two types of transponders loaded on a geosynchronous satellite. Calculation methods for link capacity and jamming margin were obtained. The results of the analysis show that capacity of a transponder which does modulation/demodulation, decoding/encoding in addition to despreading/respeading is twice as much as that of a tranponder which does despreading /respreading only.

  • We propose an efficient frequency-time domain resource allocation scheme in multi-carrier (MC) direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) communications. We consider, as a power allocation strategy in the frequency domain, transmitting each user's DS waveforms over the user's sub-band with the largest channel gain. We then consider rate adaptation in the time domain, where the data rate is adapted such that a desired transmission quality is maintained. We analyze the achievable average data rate of the proposed scheme with fixed average transmission power, and compare the performance to single carrier DS/CDMA systems with power and rate adaptations.

  • 차세대 이동통신 시스템은 고속의 멀티미디어 데이터의 신뢰성 있는 전송을 요구하고 다양한 전파환경에서 신뢰성 있는 음성, 데이터, 영상서비스 등의 다양한 서비스를 제공한다. 하지만 광대역 무선 접속을 지원하는 다중 접속 기술은 DS-CDMA(Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access) 시스템에서 시스템 성능을 저하시키는 심벌간 간섭(ISI) 혹은 다중접속간섭(MAI) 신호를 발생시킨다. 이러한 간섭 신호를 개선하기 위해 적응 블라인드 등화 방식을 사용하는데 적응 블라인드 등화 방식 중에서도 가장 많이 이용하는 Constant Modulus Algorithm(CMA)을 적절한 초기화 없이 사용하면 ill-convergence 현상이 나타난다. 본 논문에서는 채널의 효율을 높이기 위한 등화 방식으로 기존의 NCMA 알고리듬을 이용한 새로운 블라인드 등화 방식(Modified NCMA)을 제안하고, 이를 비동기 DS-CDMA 시스템의 다중 사용자 환경에서 컴퓨터 모의 실험 및 성능분석을 하였다. 제안한 등화 방식의 자승오차(SE : Squared Error)의 개선은 spreading gain 31과 127에 대해 cell 내의 사용자가 10명일 때 약 17dB 정도이고, 사용자가 15, 25명으로 증가시킴에 따라 자승오차의 개선은 각각 20dB, 15dB 정도로 전체 평균 자승오차는 약 17.3dB 정도로 개선됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, we proposed preamble structure and code acquisition method to improve code acquisition performance for DS-SS/TDMA packet communication systems. Proposed algorithm changes the short PN code position depending on the sub slot number. Proposed algorithm also saves position differences between short PN codes and position offsets between short PN codes and data starting position of the TDMA packet. By using the position difference table, proposed algorithm can find out exact data starting position even though some sub slots were defected. As a result of simulation, we concluded that proposed algorithm has at least 5dB gain compared to conventional method when same short PN code is used. Moreover, proposed algorithm shows same code acquisition performance only with 1/4 shortened short PN code compared to conventional method.

  • This paper follows up the previous work on the linearly constrained, modified minimum mean-squared error(MMSE) detection for direct-sequence code-division multiple-access DS-CDMA) systems in fading channels. We find a condition to avoid the breakdown of joint modified MMSE detection and pilot symbol-aided channel estimation (PSACE). The linearly constrained, modified MMSE solution is theoretically shown to be robust against time variations in Rayleigh fading channels. This fact is consistent with the simulation results. We also show that under some conditions the linearly constrained, modified MMSE detection maximizes the output signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio.(SINR)

On the PN Code Synchronization Using Synchronous Oscillator (동기 발진기를 이용한 PN 부호 동기에 관한 연구)

  • This study has been experimented the characteristics of synchronous oscillator for clock recovery of Direct Sequence/Spread Spectrum(DS/SS) communication. When external wave is not provided, The Synchronous Oscillator(SO) oscillates at its natural frequency. As soon as external signal is applied, the SO starts tracking the external frequency which can be sinusoidal, pulsed or some other waveform. Thus, the output is synchronized with the range of wide tracking bandwidth to the external frequency Specifically, the SO also posses frequency division and multiplication capability. All of these indicate that the SO can overcome difficulties to get synchronization in coherent digital communication systems. We make a practical application of DS/SS communication with study on the synchronous properties of SO. As the result, we have a good performance.

A Novel Scheme for Code Tracking Bias Mitigation in Band-Limited Global Navigation Satellite Systems (위성 기반 측위 시스템에서의 부호 추적편이 완화 기법)

  • The global navigation satellite system (GNSS), which is the core technique for the location based service, adopts the direct sequence/spread spectrum (DS/SS) as its modulation method. The success of a DS/SS system depends on the synchronization between the received and locally generated pseudo noise (PN) signals. As a step in the synchronization process, the tacking scheme performs fine adjustment to bring the phase difference between the two PN signals to zero. The most widely used tracking scheme is the delay locked loop with early minus late discriminator (EL-DLL). In the ideal case, the EL-DLL is the best estimator among various DLL. However, in the band-limited multipath environment, the EL-DLL has tracking bias. In this paper, the timing offset range of correlation function is divided into advanced offset range (AOR) and delayed offset range (DOR) centering around the correct synchronization time point. The tracking bias results from the following two reasons: symmetry distortion between correlation values in AOR and DOR, and mismatch between the time point corresponding to the maximum correlation value and the synchronization time point. The former and latter are named as the type I and type II tracking bias, respectively. In this paper, when the receiver has finite bandwidth in the presence of multipath signals, it is shown that the type II tracking bias becomes a more dominant error factor than the type I tracking bias, and the correlation values in AOR are not almost changed. Exploiting these characteristics, we propose a novel tracking bias mitigation scheme and demonstrate that the tracking accuracy of the proposed scheme is higher than that of the conventional scheme, both in the presence and absence of noise.

Capacity of synchronous DS-CDMA system on frequency selective multipath fading channels with imperfect power control (주파수 선택적 다중 경로 페이딩 채널에서 불완전 전력 제어를 고려한 동기식 DS-CDMA 시스템의 수용 용량)

  • In this paper, the bit error performance for the reverse link of a synchronous direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) system employing an imperfect power control scheme over a frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel is analyzed. The system capacity degradation due to power control error (PCE), which is approximated by a log-normally distributed random variable, is estimate as a function of a standard deviation of the PCE. In addition, the impact of the multipath intensity profile (MIP) shape and the number of resolvable paths on the performance of the synchronous transmission is investigated. To estimate the system capacity, the coded bit error performance is evaluated and compared with the conventional CDMA. It is found tat synchronous transmission has less sensitivity to imperfect power control and eases the power control requirements. In particular, as the decay constant $\delta$ of MIP increases, the synchronous transmission in the DS-CDMA reverse link results in a significant BER improvement over the asynchronous transmission even in the presence of imperfect power control. We further conclude that the capacity can be improved by employing the synchronous transmission.
