Comparison of Binocular Function and Surgical Outcomes of Tenacious Proximal Fusion and High Accommodative Convergence/Accommodation Ratio Types of Intermittent Exotropia

  • Purpose: To compare the characteristics and surgical outcomes in patients with tenacious proximal fusion (TPF) and high accommodative convergence/accommodation ratio (AC/A) types of intermittent exotropia. Methods: This study retrospectively enrolled 40 patients with intermittent exotropia, 23 with TPF and 17 with high AC/A. Binocular function was evaluated by Worth's 4-dot test. Patients underwent lateral rectus recession, and surgical outcomes were compared. Surgical success was defined as less than ${\pm}10$ prism diopters (PD) at 12 months postoperatively. Results: The proportion of diplopia at near, evaluated by Worth's 4-dot test, was significantly higher in patients with high AC/A than in those with TPF (35.3% vs. 4.3%, p = 0.029). The mean preoperative angles of deviation in TPF and high AC/A types were $28.3{\pm}4.4$ and $28.8{\pm}4.5PD$ at distances, and $14.7{\pm}4.2$ and $15.1{\pm}4.1PD$ at near. Twelve months after surgery, the mean angles of deviation in TPF and high AC/A types were $2.9{\pm}9.8$ and $1.2{\pm}9.6PD$, respectively, at distance and $1.7{\pm}7.7$ and $-1.3{\pm}11.3PD$ at near. The surgical success rates were similar in the TPF and high AC/A types (74.0% vs. 64.7%). Five (21.7%) patients with TPF and 2 (11.8%) with high AC/A type experienced recurrence, with consecutive esotropia occurring in 1 (4.3%) patient with TPF and 4 (23.5%) patients with high AC/A. Conclusions: The proportion of diplopia at near was higher in patients with high AC/A type than in those with TPF intermittent exotropia. However, the surgical success rates were not significantly different between the types.

  • FM screening has been praised for its apparent resolution advantage over conventional AM screening. FM screening is also known for its criticalness of film output and difficulties in the proofing stage because of the microdot formation. However, FM screening is not a well understood process from press performance point of view. This study was carried out for the purposes of introducing the availability of hifi-offset printing to domestic printing industries and evaluating the print qualities between 300lpi AM screen and FM screen with the equivalent sized microdots to 4-5% dot area of the 300lpi AM screen, together with comparing with 175lpi AM screen representing a conventional printing. Solid density, dot gain, color gamut and some other quality properties were measured and discussed.

Fabrication Process of Light Emitting Diodes Using CdSe/CdS/ZnS Quantum Dot

  • Red color light emitting diodes were fabricated using CdSe/CdS/ZnS quantum dots (QDs). Patterned indium-tin-oxide (ITO) was used as a transparent anode, and oxygen plasma treatment on a surface of ITO was performed. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) was spin coated on the ITO surface as a hole injection layer. Then CdSe/CdS/ZnS QDs was spin coated and thermal treatment was performed for the cross-linking of QDs. TiO2 was coated on the QDs as an electron transport layer, and 150 nm of aluminum cathode was formed using thermal evaporator and shadow mask. The device shows a pure red color emission at 606 nm wavelength. Device characteristics will be presented in detail.

The Study on BEAM for the Space Domain Analysis of EEG

  • In this paper, computerized BEAM was implemented for the space domain analysis of EEG. Transformation from temporal summation to two-dimensional mappings is formed by 4 nearest point interpolaton method. Methods of representation of BEAM are two. One is dot density method which classify brain electrical potential 9 levels by dot density of gray levels and the other is colour method which classify brain electrical 12 levels by red-green colours. In this BEAM, instantaneous change and average energy distribution over any arbitrary time interval of brain electrical activity could be observed and analyzed easily. In the frequency domain, the distribution of energy spectrum of a special band can easily be distinguished normality and abnormality.

Measurement of Dose outside a 6 MV Field Edge Using Optically Stimulated Luminescent Nano Dot Dosimeters (광자극형광나노닷선량계를 사용한 6 MV 조사야 가장자리 바깥 선량 측정)

  • The purpose of this study is(was) to investigate the shielding ratio of 1 mmPb and the off axis ratio outside the field edge at depth of 1 cm from a phantom surface for 6 MV photon beam. A dose of 180 cGy was delivered to a depth of 10 cm for a $10{\times}10cm^2$ and $15{\times}15cm^2$ field in the SAD technique. The off axis ratio was calculated by measuring the dose of optically stimulated luminescent nanoDot dosimeters(OSLnDs) positioned at 2, 4 and 6 cm from the field edge, and the center axis of field. And the shielding ratio of 1 mmPb was calculated by measuring the dose of OSLnDs positioned at 2, 4 and 6 cm from the field edge.. As a result, for a $10{\times}10cm^2$ and $15{\times}15cm^2$ field, the off axis ratios were acquired 0.008-0.023 and 0.011-0.028, respectively. Also the shielding ratios of 1 mmPb were acquired 0.868-0.888 and 0.807-0.842, respectively. These results provide data to protect organs at risk outside the radiation treatment field.

Temperature Dependent Photoluminescence from InAs/GaAs Quantum Dots Grown by Molecular Beam Epitaxy

  • We have reported structural and optical properties of self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dot (QD) grown by molecular beam epitaxy with different arsenic to indium flux ratios (V/III ratios). By increasing the V/III ratio from 9 to 160, average diameter and height of the InAs QDs decreased, but areal density of them increased. The InAs QDs grown under V/III ratio of 30 had a highest-aspect-ratio of 0.134 among them grown with other conditions. Optical property of the InAs QD was investigated by the temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) and integrated PL. From the temperature dependence PL measurements of InAs QDs, the activation energies of $E_{a1}$ and $E_{a2}$ for the InAs QDs were obtained $48{\pm}3meV$ and $229{\pm}23meV$, respectively. It was considered that the values of $E_{a1}$ and $E_{a2}$ are corresponded to the energy difference between ground-state and first excited state, and the energy difference between ground-state and wetting layer, respectively.

  • 본 연구에서는 신축성이 우수한 친수형 무공 PET필름을 사용해서, 소취성, 보온성 및 투습방수성이 우수한 신발용 소재를 개발하였다. 이상의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 최적 소재의 선정, PET필름의 특성평가, 최적 라미네이팅 공정조건 확립, 첨가제 선정 및 가공조건 확립 등에 대해서 실험고찰을 하였으며, 얻어진 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. (1) 신발의 갑피용 및 안창용 최적소재로서 경편직물을 선정하였으며, PET필름의 최적 요구특성은 내수성 9460mmH2O, 투습성 10,000g/m2/24hrs, 인장강도42kgf/cm2, 신도249% 였다. (2) Hot-melt 라미네이팅 공정에서의 투습방수성을 좌우하는 Dot roll No, Coating gap의 최적조건은 CP75(Engraved dot roll no), -0.2mm(Coating Unit gap) 였다. (3) EVA base polymer 및 기타 조제의 최적 배합비를 확립하고 이를 바탕으로 compound를 제조하여 Press로 molding하여 안창용 Sponge를 얻었다. (4) 안창 sponge 위에 점착된 knit 소재의 소취효과는 우수하였으며, 갑피용 투습방수 경편직물의 보온성도$15{\sim}20%$로 우수하였다.

Dynamics and Bleaching of Ground State in CdSe/ZnS Quantum Dots

  • For resonant excitation of the ground state $1s^e-1S^h_{3/2}$, dynamics of 'the electron-hole pair in a CdSe quantum dot was investigated by degenerate pump-probe measurement. At low e-h pair densities, the decay of $1s^e-1S^h_{3/2}$ state is dominated by radiative recombination. As the number of the electron-hole pairs increases, new decay features become significant. Theoretical comparison suggests this is attributed to the bi-molecular and Auger-type scattering.

Verification of the Radiation Shielding Analysis of Shipping Cask Using Deterministic and Probabilistic Methods (결정론적인 방법과 확률론적인 방법을 이용한 수송용기 방사선차폐해석의 비교 및 검증)

  • In this study, to set-up the calculation method of radiation shielding of the KSC-4 shipping cask which is being used for spent fuel transportation, the pre-existing two calculation methods, deterministic and probabilistic methods were tested. For the first, the DOT4.2 computer code adopting the deterministic theory was applied for the calculation of effective neutron shielding under assumption of continuous wall thickness of the cask. To verify the first results, the probabilistic theory was used as an alternate calculation. In this case MCNP4A computer code adopting the probabilitic theory was used. And same approximation was obtained from the two different shielding calculations. From the results, it could be confirmed that the design and calculation method used for the radiation shielding of the KSC-4 was adequate and sufficiently safe to meet the design and QA requirements of 10CFR71 Appendix H.

The Effect of Gaze Fixation Induction Method on Visual Field Testing (시선 고정 유도방법이 시야 검사에 미치는 영향)

  • A visual field tester using a fixation target with a lack of distinctiveness decreases accuracy and usability in visual field testing. The present study is intended to develop various induction methods of gaze fixation for effective visual field testing. Proposed were four new gaze fixation induction methods (color changing dot; alphanumeric characters; flashing black dot; and bulls eye and cross hair, BECH) by considering visual attention factors such as color, meaning, flashing, and shape and the proposed methods were compared with the existing black dot (BD) method in terms of gaze fixation performance and subjective satisfaction by 32 participants in their 20s to 30s. BECH was found most preferred by increasing gaze fixation performance by 4.8% and subjective satisfaction by 0.4 to 2.0 in a 7-point scale compared to BD. BECH can be applied to tests such as visual field testing and macular pigment optical density testing in which gaze fixation is crucial for accuracy and usability.
