We have studied on the slicing and polishing processes of R-plane sapphire wafers for the substrates of UHB nonpolar a-plane GaN LED. The fabrication conditions of the R-plane and c-plane wafers were influenced by the large anisotropic properties (mechanical properties) of the sapphire. The slicing process was more affected by the anisotropic properties of R-plane than the polishing process. When the slicing direction was $45^{\circ}$ to the a-flat, the slicing time was shorter and the quality of as-slicing wafers was better than the slicing direction of normal to the a-flat. The MRR(Material removal rate) of mechanical polishing processes such as lapping and DMP(Diamond mechanical polishing) did not show significant differences between the R-plane and c-plane. The MRR of the c-plane was about two times higher than that of R-planes at the CMP(Chemical mechanical polishing) process due to the formation of hydrolysis reaction layers on the surface of the c-plane.
Diamond mechanical polishing (DMP) is a crucial process in a sapphire wafering process to improve flatness and achieve the target thickness by using free abrasives. In a DMP process, material removal rate (MRR) is a key factor to reduce process time and cost. Controlling mechanical parameters, such as velocity and pressure, can increase the MRR in a DMP process. However, there are limitations of using high velocities and pressures for achieving a high MRR owing to their side effects. In this paper, we present the lapping characteristics and improvement of MRR by using a fixed abrasive plate through an experimental study. The change in MRR as a function of velocity and pressure follows Preston's equation. The surface roughness of a wafer decreases as the plate velocity and pressure increases. We observe a sharp decrease in MRR over the lapping time at a high velocity and pressure in the velocity and pressure test. An analysis of surface roughness (Rq and Rpk) indicates that wear of abrasives decreases the MRR sharply. In order to investigate the effect of abrasive wear on the MRR, we utilize a cutting fluid and a rough wafer. The cutting fluid delays the wear of abrasives resulting in improvement of MRR drop. The rough wafer maintains the MRR at a stable rate by self-dressing.

It is issued that protecting and managing a copyright are very important to a digitization of multimedia content. All of these techniques are for developing solution about protection and management of the copyright and media service. These have been at the head of the growth of the whole media service, but cause problems such as a illegal copy and distribution. To solve these problems, researchers are performing many projects. We analyze the trend of a multimedia service IPMP(Intellectual Property Management and Protection), DMP(Digital Media Project), ENTHRONE(End-to-end Qos through Integrated Management of Content, Networks and Terminals), and DRM(Digital Rights Management).

We have investigated the effects of relatively high concentration of carbachol (CCh), an agonist of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR), on cardiac automaticity in mouse heart. Action potentials from automatically beating right atria of mice were measured with conventional microelectrodes. When atria were treated with $100{\mu}M$ CCh, atrial beating was immediately arrested and diastolic membrane potential (DMP) was depolarized. After exposure of the atria to CCh for $\~4 min$, action potentials were regenerated. The regenerated action potentials had lower frequency and shorter duration when compared with the control. When atria were pre-exposed to pirenzepine $(1{\mu}M)$, an $M_1$ mAChR antagonist, there was complete inhibition of CCh-induced depolarization of DMP and regeneration of action potentials. Pre-exposure to AFDX-116 (11 ({2-[(diethylamino)-methyl]-1-piperidyl}acetyl)-5, 11-dihydro-6H-pyridol[2,3-b][1,4] benzodiazepine-6-one base, $1{\mu}M$), an $M_2$ mAChR antagonist, failed to block CCh-induced arrest of the beating. However, prolonged exposure to CCh elicited gradual depolarization of DMP and slight acceleration in beating rate. Our data indicate that high concentration of CCh depolarizes membrane potential and recovers right atrial automaticity via $M_1$ mAChR, providing functional evidence for the role of $M_1$ mAChR in the atrial myocytes.
Gradient centrifugal partition chromatography (GCPC) method was developed and applied to isolate 3,5-dimethoxyphenanthrene-2,7-diol (DMP) and batatasin-I (BA-I) from the dichloromethane soluble extract of Dioscorea opposita. In this method, the lower phase of n-hexane-methanol-water system (HMW, 10 : 9 : 1, v/v) was used as a mobile phase A (MpA) and water was used as a mobile phase B (MpB). This gradient CPC method is comparable to that of reversed-phase HPLC method in that the stationary upper-phase of HMW (10 : 9 : 1 v/v) works as if it were reversed-phase silica gel due to its hydrophobic property, while the lower phase (MpA) and water (MpB) functioned as hydrophilic mobile phases. The initial condition of the mobile phase was 20% MpA/80% MpB and maintained for 150 min to obtain DMP (1.2 mg), and then MpA was increased up to 50% to elute BA-I (1.7 mg). The purities of DMP and BA-I were 94.1% and 98.3% with the recovery yields of 83% and 86%, respectively. Similar results were obtained by linear-gradient CPC. The CPC peak fractions were identified by comparing their retention time to those of authentic samples of DMP and BA-I and their spectroscopic data ($^1$H NMR and $^{13}$C NMR) to those of literature values.

This study examined the current practices of Research Data Management (RDM) services recently built and implemented at research university libraries in the U.S. by analyzing the components of the services and the contents presented in their web sites. The study then analyzed the content of web pages describing the services provided by 31 Research Universities/Very High research activity determined based on the Carnegie Classification. The analysis was based on 9 components of the services suggested by previous studies, including (1) DMP support; (2) File organization; (3) Data description; (4) Data storage; (5) Data sharing and access; (6) Data preservation; (7) Data citation; (8) Data management training; (9) Intellectual property of data. As a result, the vast majority of the universities offered the service of DMP support. More than half of the universities provided the services for describing and preserving data, as well as data management training. Specifically, RDM services focused on offering the guidance to disciplinary metadata and repositories of relevance, or training via individual consulting services. More research and discussion is necessary to better understand an intra- or inter-institutional collaboration for implementing the services and knowledge and competency of librarians in charge of the services.

The experiment was conducted on 264 crossbred Karan-Fries (Holstein Friesian${\times}$Tharparkar) cows, over one year to explore the possibility of using milk urea (MU) concentration and milk protein content to monitor feeding adequacy under farm condition and to investigate the effects of different animal factors and season on MU concentration. Individual noon (1200 to 1300 h) milk samples were collected once in every month and analysed for urea and protein contents. Representative feed samples were also collected on the same day of milk collection and were analysed for CP content. A significant positive association (p<0.01) between MU concentration and milk yield was observed. MU concentrations (mg/dl) were found to be significantly (p<0.01) higher and lower in first lactation (44.8${\pm}$0.7) and in early lactation stage (40.7${\pm}$0.5), respectively. Average MU values were found to be significantly (p<0.01) higher in winter (50.7${\pm}$0.3) and lower in summer (32.9${\pm}$0.6). During the investigation, of the total MU observations, 50.3% were within the range of 30 to 50 mg/dl, 21.4% were <30 mg/dl and only 7.5% were >60 mg/dl. MU concentration was found to be associated significantly (p<0.05) with CP content of forages rather than concentrate. A close positive association (p<0.01) between MU level and daily milk protein (DMP) yield was observed during the investigation. The regression equation, DMP yield (g) = -24.6+33.5 daily milk yield (kg) +0.9 MU (mg/dl) was developed to establish the reference level of DMP yield. The result indicates that the effect of parity and stage of lactation may be ignored while interpreting MU values. However, reference MU values may be standardised separately for high milk yielders as level of milk yield contributes significantly to the variation of MU. The study revealed that the MU values together with DMP yield and milk protein content could be used as a potential non-invasive pointer to monitor feeding adequacy in dairy cows under farm conditions.
A laccase was isolated from the culture filtrate of the basidiomycete Fomitella fraxinea. The enzyme was purified to electrophoretical homogeneity using ammonium sulfate precipitation, anion-exchange chromatography, and gel-filtration chromatography. The enzyme was identified as a monomeric protein with a molecular mass of 47 kDa by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and gel-filtration chromatography, and had an isoelectric point of 3.8. The N-terminal amino acid sequence for the enzyme was ATXSNXKTLAAD, which had a very low similarity to the sequences previously reported for laccases from other basidiomycetes. The optimum pH and temperature for 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate) (ABTS) were 3.0 and $70^{\circ}C$, respectively. The enzyme also showed a much higher level of specific activity for ABTS and 2,6-dimethoxyphenol (DMP), where the $K_m$ values of the enzyme for ABTS and 2,6-DMP were 270 and $426{\mu}M$, respectively, and the $V_{max}$ values were 876 and $433.3{\mu}M/min$, respectively. The laccase activity was completely inhibited by L-cysteine, dithiothreitol (DTT), and sodium azide, significantly inhibited by $Ni^+,\;Mn^{2+}$, and $Ba^{2+}$, and slightly stimulated by $K^+$ and $Ca^{2+}$.

In real-time control systems, the traditional timing analysis based on worst-case response-time(WCRT) is too conservative for the firm and soft real-time control systems, which permit the maximum utilization factor greater than one. We suggested a probabilistic analysis method possible to apply the firm and soft real-time control systems under considering dependency relationship between tasks. The proposed technique determines the deadline miss probability(DMP) of each task from computing the average response-time distribution under a fixed-priority scheduling policy. The method improves the predictable ability forthe average performance and the temporal behavior of real-time control systems.
We cloned the 4.8 kb BglII fragment containing genes downstream pHENX7 from Pseudomonas sp. strain DJ77. The restriction map of the resultant clone, recombinant plasmid pYCS500, was determined. Sequencing analysis of the 465 bp HindIII-ClaI fragment revealed an open reading frame of 282 bp that was then designated phnM. The deduced polypeptide is 93 amino acid residues long with a $M_r$ of 10,008. The PhnM has 37.3-53.9% identity with plant-type ferredoxin proteins such as NahT, XylT, DmpQ, AtdS, PhlG, PhhQ and TbuW and contains the motif similar to well-conserved functional domains of those proteins.
