  • In this paper, the improved Dual Leaky-Bucket(DLB) algorithm is proposed to reduce the synchronous cell loss rate. The conventional DLB algorithm does not support synchronous cells, but the proposed algorithm gives higher priority to synchronous cells. To reduce synchronous cell loss rate, the synchronous cell detector is used in the proposed algorithm. Synchronous cell detector detects synchronous cells, and passes them cells to the 2nd Leaky-Bucket. So it is similar to give higher priority to synchronous cells. In this paper, the proposed algorithm used audio/videl traffic modeled by On/Off and Two-state MMPP, and simulated by SLAM II package. As simulation results, the proposed algorithm gets lower synchronous cell loss rate than the conventional DLB algorithms. The improved DLB algorithm for multimedia synchronization can be extended to any other cells which require higher priority.

  • Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is the second most common causes of dementia. It can exhibit a variety of clinical symptoms including cognitive decline, cognitive fluctuation, visual hallucinations, parkinsonism, REM sleep behavior disorder, hypersensitivity to neuroleptics and autonomic dysfunctions. Despite more well-known criteria for DLB, there are often misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. It gives a lot of clinical burden to the clinician as well as to patients and families. When reducing the misdiagnosis, the burden of all will be reduced. The special concern and solicitation are needed in order not to miss the diagnosis when the cardinal features of DLB may not be volunteered by patients and the caregivers. To control the symptoms, clinicians must find and reduce drugs that can have the negative effects on DLB symptoms. There is limited evidence about specific interventions but available data suggest cholinesterase inhibitors improve the cognitive and behavioral symptoms and menmantine slightly improves the global impression.

  • Biorenovation is a microbial enzyme-based structural modification of component compounds in natural products and synthetic compounds including plant extracts with the potential benefits of improved biological activities compared with its reaction substrates. In this study, we investigated the anti-inflammatory activity of Distylium racemosum leaf extract and D. racemosum leaf biorenovation extract (DLB). As a result, DLB inhibited nitric oxide, prostaglandin E2, and inflammatory cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-6, interleukin-1β at non-toxic concentrations. In addition, DLB significantly inhibited inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 on LPS-treated RAW 264.7 macrophages. Based on these results, we suggest that the DLB could be used as a potent anti-inflammatory agents. It also suggests that the application of biological evolution has potential usefulness to increase the practical value of natural products.

  • Single path routing schemes using dynamic routing metric amy find out the dynamic network status and recompute paths to keep the traffic from the highly loaded regions of the network. This type of routing approach, however, may lead to a routing oscillation, and further, it cannot exploit multi-paths that may frequently exist in the real network. We propose a multipath routing scheme with dynamic load balancing, called MP-DLB, which is capable of reducing the overhead incurred by the multipath routing with dynamic load balancing approach while taking advantage of the high routing performance provided by the approach. According to the analysis of Internet packet traces which show that a high percentage of network traffic is destined for a small number of networks, MP-DLB applies the multipath routing with dynamic load balancing only to a limited subset of all the destinations in the network. For the rest of the destinations, it applies traditional single path routing scheme. This approach may reduce overall routing overheads by limiting the number of destinations to apply the more complicated routing scheme while it can keep the routing performance high by providing efficient routing for the most significant traffic in the routing performance. A series of simulations are done to analyze the performance of MP-DLB. The simulation results show that MP-DLB may effectively cope with the congestion and achieve high routing performance by distributing traffic streams that are generated from varying sources and heading toward a specific hot destination over multi-paths.

  • In this paper, we proposed two kids of dynamic priority control mechanisms controlling the cell service ratio in order to improve the QOS(Quality of Service). We also analyse theoretically the characteristics of cell loss probability and mean cell delay time by applying the proposed priority control mechanisms to ATM switch with output buffer. The proposed priority control mechanisms have the same principles of storing cells into buffer but the different principles of serving cells from buffer. The one is the control mechanism controlling the cell service ratio according to the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer, the other is the control mechanism controlling the cell service ratio according to both the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer and the average arrival rate. The two service classes of our concern are the delay sensitive class and the loss sensitive class. The analytical results show that the proposed control mechanisms are able to improve the QOS, the characteristics of cell loss probability and mean cell delay time, by selecting properly the relative cell occupancy ratio of buffer and the average arrival rate. conventional DLB algorithm does not support synchronous cells, but the proposed algorithm gives higher priority to synchronous cells. To reduce synchronous cell loss rate, the synchronous cell detector is used in the proposed algorithm. Synchronous cell detector detects synchronous cells, and passes them cells to the 2nd Leaky-Bucket. So it is similar to give higher priority to synchronous cells. • In this paper, the modified Usage Parameter Control(UPC) method based on Dual Leaky Bucket algorithm is proposed to improve the perfor mance of multimedia synchronization and to control burst traffic. In the proposed algorithm, Synchronous cells are by passed to the 2nd stage Leaky Bucket (LB) of the DLB. for overloaded traffic condition, the violated cells are saved in a temporary buffer and they are retransmitted when the 2nd stage bucket is empty.

  • A low molecular weight component named bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) chemically isolated from the organic matrix of bone, induce postfetal connective tissue cells surrounding small blood vessels to differentiate into cartilage and bone. The end product of BMP is a spherical ossicle of lamella bone filled with red bone marrow for the functional loading. This is a important point that the graft material is embedded the defect site during the implant surgery. Because present knowledge of the relationship between BMP and bone regeneration arises mainly from studies of induced bone formation in heterotopic sites, it would be helpful to determine whether BMP plays any part in the process of bone healing. The BMPs have been shown to play crucial roles in normal skeletal development as well as bone healing and are able to activate transcription of genes involved in cellular migration, proliferation, and differentiation. The delivery of BMP on matrices has been efficacious in the treatment of defect bone in implant surgery. The purpose of the histologic study was to evaluate the effect of DLB(demineralized lyophilized bone) coated with purified human BMP(hBMP-I) in immediate implant surgery with bony defect to obtain the functional structure of implant asap. The ability of a graft of hBMP-I to accelerate bony defect repair provides a rationale for its use in immediate implant surgery that have large bone defect in edentulous area.
