  • Wind farms employs induction generators which are two type, one is Squirrel cage for fixed speed wind turbines and the other is Wound induction generator (doubly fed induction generator DFIG) for variable speed wind turbines. this paper describes grid connection scheme of wind power system using two type induction generators and simulation results show the characteristics of two type induction generators.

  • This paper presents monitoring system based on IEC61400-25 for 750kW-class DFIG wind power generation system. It consists of wind turbine PLC, Local and Remote I/O Server, human machine interface, and Web-server. Proposed System has been demonstrated in Daegi-ri, Kangwon-do, which aims to test IEC61400-25 communication capability of monitoring system and evaluate the performance of 750kW-class WTS.

  • The insertion of the crowbar system in the doubly fed induction generator rotor circuit for a short period of time during grid disturbance enables a more efficient way of limiting transient rotor current and hence protecting the rotor side converter (RSC) and the DC - link capacitor. When crowbar is activated at fault occurrence and clearance time, RSC is blocked while DC -link capacitor and the grid side converter (GSC) can be controlled to provide reactive power support at the PCC and improve the voltage which helps to comply with grid codes. In this paper, control strategies for crowbar system to limit the rotor current during fault is presented with RSC and GSC controllers are modified to control PCC voltage during disturbance to enhance DFIG wind farm to comply with some strict grid codes. Model simulated on MATLAB/Simulink verify the study through simulation results presented.

  • As a result of environmental concerns, renewable energy systems are rapidly increasing and particularly tidal current is a potential source of energy. In accordance with a large-capacity trend, doubly-fed induction generator is applied such as wind farms and tidal systems. In this paper, Optimal hysteresis band amplitude of CRPWM Converter is determined for improving rotor current waveform and electrical quality.

  • 고창의 전력품질 실증시험장에서 계통에 연계된 풍력발전 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 풍력발전기의 특성을 파악하기 위해, 가변 풍속에서 이중여자 풍력발전기의 회전속도와 유효전력의 변화가 계통에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 고창의 전력품질 실증시험장은 22.9kV 계통에 전력품질 향상기기(DVR, STATCOM, SSTS)와 전력품질 외란 발생장치 등이 구축되어 있다. 모터와 VVVF를 이용하여 풍력발전기의 블레이드를 구현하고, 유도형과 이중여자 유도형 풍력발전기를 모의할 수 있는 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 선로의 길이를 20 kM로 가정하고, 덕적도의 풍속데이터를 이용한 가변풍속 패턴을 설정하여 풍력발전기의 회전속도에 대한 출력특성을 확인하였다.

  • In order to transmit energy generated through the stator winding of a doubly-fed Induct ion generator (DFIG), we need to synchronize the generated voltage vector with the grid voltage vector. However, the existing synchronization method works only when the encoder is installed at a specific Position and equivalent constant is precise. In order to solve this Problem, a new synchronization method has been proposed and a way of applying the method to existing doubly-fed induction generator control algorithm has been also proposed. The validity of the proposed methods have been verified using a prototype converter for the control of a 1.5MW-class doubly-fed induction generator

  • In this paper the operation of a double-fed wound-rotor induction machine, coupled to a wind turbine, as a generator at sub-synchronous speeds is investigated. A novel approach is used in the analysis, namely, the rotor power flow approach. The conditions necessary for operating the machine as a double-fed induction generator (DFIG) are deduced. Formulae describing the factors affecting the range of sub-synchronous speeds within which generation occurs are deduced. The variations in the magnitude and phase angle of the voltage injected to the rotor circuit as the speed of the machine changes to achieve generation at the widest possible sub-synchronous speed range is presented. Also, the effect of the rotor parameters on the generation range is presented. The analysis proved that the generation range could increase from sub-synchronous to super-synchronous speeds, which increases the amount of energy captured by the wind energy conversion system (WECS) as result of utilizing the power available in the wind at low wind speeds.

  • 세계 각국은 에너지 환경, 안보 및 경제에 능동적으로 대처하기 위해 신재생에너지 개발에 국가적 역량을 집중하고 있으며, 그 중 기술의 완성도 및 경제성이 가장 앞서있는 풍력발전 분야의 참여 비중을 점점 확대하고 있는 추세이다. 그러나 풍력에너지 활용의 효율성, 전력의 품질면에서 1~2기 정도의 풍력발전기의 계통연계는 효과적이지 못하기 때문에, 수기에서 수십기의 대용량 풍력발전기로 구성된 대단위 풍력발전단지를 통해 전력을 생산, 공급하는 것이 바람직하다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 RTDS 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 제주도 한경풍력발전단지의 실시간 시뮬레이션 환경을 구축할 수 있는 3MW급 DFIG 풍력발전기를 모델링하여, 3MW, 5기로 구성된 풍력발전단지를 RTDS를 이용하여 구현하였다.
