In this study, an integrated damage identification system (IDIS) using modal information to detect damage in structures is presented. The main dobjective is to develop a system of softwares that facilitates detecting damage locations and estimating damage severities in bridges. Firstly, theoretical background for IDIS is outlined. Secondly, a GUI-based IDIS software scheme are programmed. Finally, the feasibility and applicability of the IDIS software are experimentally demonstrated using small-scaled plate-girder models.

In this paper, performance of an optical CDMA system with PCCC and SCCC is simulated and compared. It is assumed that optical channel is an intensity modulated (IM) channel and direct-detection scheme is employed to detect the received optical signal. The modulation scheme used is pulse-position-modulation (PPM). The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error probability. From the simulation results, it is shown that turbo coding offers considerable coding gain with reasonable encoding/decoding complexity.

In this paper, we propose a new algorithm to detect human faces for controling a camera used in video conference. We model the distribution of skin color and set up the standard skin color in YIQ color space. An input video frame image is segmented into skin and non-skin segments by comparing the standard skin color and each pixels in the input video frame. Then, shape filler is applied to select face segments from skin segments. Our algorithm detects human faces in real time to control a camera to capture a human face with a proper size and position.

This paper presents a parametric line equation on the log-polar mapped plane to detect the straight lines in an original image. The log-polar edge image used in Hough transform is constructed by combining the edge images of both fovea and periphery. The foveal edge image detected by a Sobel mask on the Cartesian plane is transformed to the log-polar plane by forward mapping but the edge detection of the peripheral region is obtained by directly applying the newly developed mask to the log-polar plane. This paper also proposes a analytic method then determining a border between the fovea and the periphery regions.

In recent years there has been a steady increase in geoenvironmental engineering research where geotechnical engineering has been combined with environmental concerns in the field of construction and industrial waste reusing in civil works. Many of these projects involve some investigation on the characteristics of geotechnical and environmental properties. In this study, investigation and test on the characteristics of demolished waste concrete was carried out to detect the physical, mechanical, and environmental properties for reusing as embankment and backfill materials in civil works.

In general three position sensors are needed to drive three phases SRM. Single position sensor driving method for three phases Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) is proposed in this paper. By using single position sensor the cost of SRM is reduced. But position sensor the cost of SRM is reduced. But position detection at the staring is needed for single position sensor driving method. In this paper we propose the active align method to detect the relative position of rotor to three phases and align to the nearest phase. We proved the validity of the method by experiment and compare with other method.

Recently As the performance of the personal computer has been improving rapidly lots of research for the pc-based numerical computer actively progress in an easy repair maintenance and improving the performance with less cost. This paper presents the design using complex programmable logic device(CPLD). The CPU of Motion Controller that function as the real time control of the independent multi-axis motion the error-detect module and external I/O control made use of 80C196KC, In this paper The PC-NC effectively distributed to the load of NCK(numerical computer kernel) and have the advantage of high speed and precision.

The nondestructive tests(NDT) are widely applied at various industrial job sites to detect defects and flaws early and thus to diagnose the quality and integrity of components, structures and systems. This paper discusses the R&MD history of various nondestructive testing techniques, their applications and many technical as well as safety issues identified, particularly in the performance of radiography. Also discussed are the principles of inspection methods and NDT qualifications that should be applied at the industrial job sites. As a result, this paper provides suggestions for improvement in Government programs to promote th NDT industry, for more systematic operation through a direct with the owner, and also for improvement in working conditions for NDT workers.

This paper presents a new method of segmenting a one-dimensional signal into a set of features of type(line, Vee-groove, Lap-joint and etc.), A set of requirements for the segmentation process result from the application area, which in this case are laser welding, GMAW(Gas Metal Arc Welding), SAW(Submerged Arc Welding) and high speed tack welding. The algorithm is able to detect an exact welding position in the presence of noise and missing data, yet is reasonably economical to implement

This paper deals with the ways how the AUV can detect and treat possible emergency situations during the mission. The emergency situations can be divided into two parts according to the zones where the situations take place-inner zone, and outer zone. This paper explains how each element of emergency situation is detected and treated, and as a result, introduce the algorithm of this procedure for the autonomous cruising.
