THE EFFECTS OF pH, TEMPERATURE AND TIME ON THE SYNTHESIS OF HYDROXYAPATITE (pH, 온도 및 시간이 수산화인회석의 합성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of pH, temperature and time on the synthesis of hydroxyapatite(HAP) by spontaneous precipitation under relatively physiologic condition. Specimens were obtained from aqueous system with various pH, temperature and experimental time. Chemical composition, crystallographic structure and crystallinity of the synthetic HAP were evaluated by Infrared spectroscopy and powdered X-ray diffraction method. The following results were obtained. 1. No precipitate was obtained under pH 5.5. 2. All the specimens were concluded as HAP except one that was obtained under the condition of pH 6.5, $25^{\circ}C$ and 1 day. It was concluded as dicalcium phosphate dihydrate(DCPD). 3. The crystallinity of HAP was enhanced by increases in pH, temperature and time of the preparation. But, the crystallinity of the synthetic HAP was lower than that of the mineral HAP. 4. Intermediates such as DCPD and octacalcium phosphate were formed on the process of the synthesis of HAP.

  • 고분자 복합재 구조물의 경우 일반적으로 여러 층의 단층(laminar)이 적층된 구조로 이루어져 있으며, 모재균열, 층간분리 및 섬유파단과 같은 손상이 발생되어 파단에 이르게 된다. 자가손상 복구기법은 복합소재의 열경화성 수지 내에 손상복구액을 포함하고 있는 마이크로캡슐과 촉매를 투입하여 외부의 도움 없이 손상을 치료할 수 있는 방법으로, 소재의 디자인에 있어서 새로운 페러다임을 제공할 수 있는 것으로 현재 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 ENB(5-ethylidene-2-norbornene)와 DCPD(dicyclopentadiene)에 대하여 DMA(dynamic mechanical analysis)와 DSC(differential scanning calorimetry)를 이용하여 특성을 분석하였다. 또한 그들의 ROMP(ring-opening metathesis polymerization)반응과의 관계를 조사하였으며, ENB와 DCPD 블렌드에 대한 복구액으로서의 특성도 조사하였다. 본 연구실에서 합성된 두 가지 다른 종류의 ROMP 경화제에 대한 실제 자가손상복구에으로서의 적용상 특성도 연구하였다.

  • 액체금속로는 고온 하중 효과(피로, 크립, 크립-피로)를 고려한 내열응력설계가 중요하다. 최근에는 액금로 후보재료로서 종래의 스테인레스강에 질소를 첨가하여 고온강도를 계량한 316LN 스테인레스강이 개발되었다. 본 연구에서는 액체금속로 재료의 가장 지배적인 손상 기구로 인식되고 있는 피로-크립 파손에 대한 설계자료를 확보하기 위해 DCPD(Direct Current Potential Drop)법에 의한 고온피로균열 측정 시스템을 개발하고 316L 및 스테인레스강인 316LN 스테인레스강에 대한 고온 피로균열진전시험을 수행하였다. 본 연구에 의해 개발된 피로균열진전속도 측정 시스템에 의하면 25$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이하의 분해능으로 균열길이를 측정할 수 있다. 한편 316L 스테인레스강에 질소를 적당량 첨가하면 상온에서 $600^{\circ}C$사이의 온도에서 피로균열진전에 대한저항성이 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

Studies on effects of calibration methods and current lead position on the direct current potential drop method for crack length measurement (직류전압강하법에 의한 균열길이 측정에 미치는 도선의 위치 및 보정방법의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The effective resolution of the direct current potential drop (DCPD) method for crack length determination is strongly affected by a number of factors including wire locations and calibration method. In the present study, the effects of wire locations, thermal EMF and reference probe locations on the accuracy of calibration methods, including Hicks-Pickard equation and Johnson's equation, were examined with the CT specimens which were nine times larger than the standard specimen. In light of experimental results, it was found that Hicks-Pickard equation can accurately represent the a/W-V/Vo relationship when current input wire is located at the load line. It was also found that the accuracy of DCPD method can be greatly improved with the thermal EMF calibration and the use of Vo value at a/W = 0.241. The use of reference potential was found to be impractical when current input wire is located at the load line.

A Study on the Filmic Properties of Polypropylenen by Modification of Hydrogenated Hydrocarbon Resin (수첨석유수지 개질에 의한 폴리프로필렌 필름의 특성 연구)

  • In this study, a series of bi-axially oriented films based on homo polypropylene (PP) and hydrocarbon resin (HCR) modified PP were prepared to investigate their mechanical properties, optical properties, permeability to gases and water vapors and shrinkage ratio. Hydrogenated dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) resin and hydrogenated C9 resin were used as HCR in this study. Bi-axially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films made with PP/HCR blends showed better mechanical properties (higher Young's modulus), better optical properties (lower haze), lower permeability to gases and water vapors and increased shrinkage ratio than BOPP films made with homo-PP. Hydrogenated DCPD resin and hydrogenated C9 resin showed similar contribution to the improvement in mechanical properties and optical properties of BOPP films, but there are a differences in permeability to gases and water vapors and shrinkage ratio.

  • Powder metallurgy nickel based superalloy has been used in a high temperature part of turbine engine for airplane. The fatigue crack growth behavior was investigated using CT specimens for the materials at room temperature(R.T.), $600^{\circ}C$ and $700^{\circ}C$. The direct current potential drop(DCPD) method suggested by ASTM E647 was used to measure the crack length during fatigue crack growth at various stress ratios. The fatigue crack growth rate at R=0.5 was faster than that at R=0.1 for all temperature conditions and increased with the increase of stress ratio and temperature. Fractography was conducted for analysis of fracture mechanism.

  • Tricyclopentadiene (TCPD) is one of the important precursors for making tetrahydrotricyclopentadiene, which is well known as a next-generation fuel with high energy density. In this study, TCPD was obtained by polymerization reaction of dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) using an ionic liquid (IL) supported mesoporous silica catalysts. ILs were supported to two kinds of mesoporous silica catalysts with different pore sizes such as MCM-41 and SBA-15. Four different ILs were supported to mesoporous silicas using anionic precursors such as CuCl or $FeCl_3$ and cationic precursors such as triethylamine hydrochloride or 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride. We proved that IL supported mesoporous silicas showed better catalytic performance than those of using non-supported prestine IL in the aspect of TCPD yield and DCPD conversion. Among four kinds of IL supported mesoporous silica catalysts, CuCl-based IL supported MCM-41 system showed the highest TCPD yield.

  • Tricyclopentadiene (TCPD) as a next generation high density fuel was synthesized by Diels-Alder oligomerization reaction of DCPD. TCPD was prepared by ionic liquid (IL) catalysts with combination of cationic and anionic precursors. Two kinds of anionic precursors such as copper(I) chloride (CuCl) and iron(III) chloride ($FeCl_3$) and cationic precursors such as triethylamine hydrochloride (TEAC) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BMIC) were used. The preparation of TCPD using IL catalyst was superior to that using Diels-Alder reaction in terms of DCPD conversion and TCPD yield. In addition, TCPD yield was correlated with Lewis acidity by changing the ratio of anionic and cationic precursors. The TCPD yield was higher when using CuCl as anionic precursor than that of using $FeCl_3$. Control of Lewis acidity by changing the molar ratio of anionic and cationic precursors could further improve TCPD yield as well.

Synthesis parameters of hydroxyapatite preparation by a precipitation process (합성조건이 침전법에 의한 Hydroxyapatite 제조에 미치는 영향)

  • Hydroxyapatite (HAp) was synthesized from calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) reacting with phosphoric acid (H3PO4) in aqueous solution. HAp powders were synthesized from extremely high concentration of precursor solutions over 3 M of Ca(OH)2 aqueous suspension using modified process parameters such as phosphoric acid (H3PO4) pouring rate, aging time and post ball milling process. Regardless of phosphoric acid pouring rate, the DCPD (dicalcium phosphate dihydrate) was formed at room temperature and when heated above 700℃, β-TCP (tricalcium phosphate) was synthesized and the amount reached its maximum at 900℃. When the synthesized powder was sintered at 1150℃, β-TCP, a high temperature impurity phase, remained. The single HAp phase without DCPD was obtained from post ball-milled precipitates followed by 3 day aging. For the ball-milled precipitates even without the aging process, the desired single HAp phase without β-TCP could be obtained by heat treatment above 500℃. The post ball milling process provided a convenient route for HAp synthesis.
