  • FACTS technology is developed into the sophisticated system technology which combines conventional power system technology with power electronics, micro-process control, and information technology. Its objectives are achieving enhancement of the power system flexibility and maximum utilization of the power transfer capability through improvements of the system reliability, controllability, and efficiency[1]. As a series and shunt compensator, UPFC consists of two inverters with common dc link capacitor bank. It controls the magnitude of shunt bus voltage and real and reactive power flow of transmission line[2]. In this paper, we present the design and control algorithm of UPFC simulator for KERI simulator. As a control algorithm is implemented by digital controller, we consider sample-and-hold of signals In this simulation, we use EMTDC/PSCAD V3.0 software which can simulate instantaneous voltage and current.

  • The multi-level approach seems to be best suited to high power, high voltage ac drives with low torque ripple and fast dynamic response. If high control performance is required, space vector control becomes desirable, and the task becomes time critical. In this paper, a simplified space vector PWM method for the control of a three level inverter is proposed. As the PWM is simple in structure, it is easy to implement and the fluctuation of the neutral point potential of DC link can be supressed effectively. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed PWM strategy can be applied to high power, high voltage inverter systems. And its application to multi-level inverter is easily done on the same principle.

  • This paper deals with the design for speed controller to drive PMSM by matrix converter without DC-link circuit as the power conversion system of AC servo motor drive. To design the speed controller of PMSM drive, the closed-loop transfer function of speed controller is calculated and then the frequency-domain response characteristics are analyzed by bode plot using Matlab. Based on the results by bode plot, the speed control gains are determined. As the real effects of controller designed in the frequency-domain display in the time-domain, the performance of speed controller is confirmed by the step response of speed controller. The design examples are shown and its validity of the design method mentioned in the paper is verified through PSIM simulation.

Design Space Methodology and Its Application in Interior Permanent Magnet Motor Design

  • An innovative interpretation of the per-unit interior permanent magnet (IPM) machine model known as Design Space is presented in this paper. Based on the proposed Design Space formulation, an effective computation method to predict IPM machine performance factors, such as the current and power factor in a full range of speeds, is proposed. A systematic methodology is summarized, which translates the full speed range machine design procedure into the region determination on the so-called Design Space. The effect of dc-link voltage is also analyzed in a similar manner with the current and power factor. A series of IPM motors have been designed, and a preferred motor is selected with the help of the proposed Design Space Methodology (DSM), which has the best tradeoff between the nominal voltage and the dropped voltage condition. Experiment results show that the selected motor satisfies the machine requirements and all the design constrains, such as the current and back-EMF limitations.

A Novel Control Scheme for T-Type Three-Level SSG Converters Using Adaptive PR Controller with a Variable Frequency Resonant PLL

  • In this paper, a novel quasi-direct power control (Q-DPC) scheme based on a resonant frequency adaptive proportional-resonant (PR) current controller with a variable frequency resonant phase locked loop (RPLL) is proposed, which can achieve a fast power response with a unity power factor. It can also adapt to variations of the generator frequency in T-type Three-level shaft synchronous generator (SSG) converters. The PR controller under the static α-β frame is designed to track ac signals and to avert the strong cross coupling under the rotating d-q frame. The fundamental frequency can be precisely acquired by a RPLL from the generator terminal voltage which is distorted by harmonics. Thus, the resonant frequency of the PR controller can be confirmed exactly with optimized performance. Based on an instantaneous power balance, the load power feed-forward is added to the power command to improve the anti-disturbance performance of the dc-link. Simulations based on MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results obtained from a 75kW prototype validate the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

  • 매트릭스 컨버터는 3상의 입력 전원이 전력용 반도체 스위치의 제어를 통해 3상의 부하에 직접 연결되는 에너지 변환 장치이다. 에너지 저장을 위한 직류단이 없어 매트릭스 컨버터의 입력 전류는 부하 전류와 스위치 상태에 직접 의존한다. 그러므로 불평형 또는 왜곡된 입력 전압은 원치 않은 출력 고조파 전류의 원인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 매트릭스 컨버터의 입력 전원 외란 상황에서 출력 전류를 개선하는 신경회로망 기반 전류 보상기를 제안한다. 제안된 기법 타당성과 유효성을 시뮬레이션과 실험을 통해 증명한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 박막형 태양전지 및 LCD 제조공정에서 증착 공정 후 챔버 내부에 쌓이는 Si(실리콘)을 화학적으로 세정하기 위한 F(불소) RADICAL을 공급하는 원격 고밀도 플라즈마를 발생시키기 위한 고출력 Generator에 대해 소개하고자 한다. 개발되어진 Generator는 입력 직류전원을 공유하여 7kW급 단일 Power Amp Module의 상호결합 및 전력분담에 대한 편차 극복을 위한 기술과 고조파 저감비가 우수한 대전력 필터를 구현하였고, 크기 및 부피의 축소를 위하여 필터의 Q Factor의 극대화 기술이 적용되어졌다. 개발된 400kHz 30kW Generator는 NF3 60리터의 대용량 Remote Plasma Source의 리액터를 구동시킬 수 있으며, 38kW급 DC Link, 7kW급 Power Amp module, LC 필터, Controller로 구성되어 진다. 개발된 장치는 실제 플라즈마 공정에서 시험 평가한 결과를 통해 검증할 수 있었다.

  • Recently, the increasing application of electronic equipments and information devices has heightened the interest in power qualify. The term power quality is applied to a wide range of electromagnetic phenomena on the power system and is also concentrated by all areas such as utilities, their customers and suppliers of load equipments. In engineering terms, power Qualify is expressed by voltage qualify because the power supply system can only control the quality of the voltage. Therefore, the standards in power quality area are devoted to keep the supply voltage within allowable limits. This paper deals with single-phase unified power quality conditioner (UPQC), which ai s at the integration of series-active and shunt-active filter. The series filter il used to compensate for the voltage distortions and the shunt filter is used to provide reactive power and counteract the harmonic current injected by the load. Also, the voltage of the DC link capacitor is controlled to a desired value by the shunt active filter. The validity of the proposed UPQC is demonstrated using both the MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation and the experimental device with DSP (TMS320C32).

양방향성 PWM컨버터를 이용한 가정용 태양광 에어컨 시스템에 관한 연구 (A study of residential solar airconditioning system using bidirectional PWM converter)

  • Recently, much power demand from domestic power consumer is weakening the allowable power reserve margin in summer, especially at midday for one day due to a steep increase of air cooling loads such as air conditioner. Therefore solar airconditioning system can'be considered as one of the best remedies to meet the increase of peak power. Generally in solar air conditioning system, the diode rectifier is used to build up DC link voltage from AC source. The diode rectifier is simple and cheap but it brings out the problems of low power factor and plentiful harmonics at the AC source. Also It can derate the utilization rate of solar energy because the reverse of power flow cannot be made. Hence, in this paper to overcome the peak power problem in summer and to endure good AC input characteristics, solar air conditioning system using the PWM converter is proposed. As results, obtained are the characteristics of the PWM converter such as low distorted current waveform, high power factor and bidirectional power control. And also the stability of proposed system is verified by examining the dynamics of step load change and power reversal testing. (author). refs., figs., tabs.

  • In photovoltaic system, the specifications of solar array is changed as open circuit voltage and short circuit current because of cell temperature and solar radiation. A boost converter of this system connects between output of photovoltaic system and DC link capacitor of grid connected inverter as controlling duty ratio. Therefore to supply stable voltage to the grid, a boost converter is need to keep certain voltage output. Considering the capacitance and the resistance of boost converter, this paper designed proper digital controller.
