This paper presents the three-port DC-DC converter modeling and controller design procedure, which is part of the solid-state transformer (SST) to interface medium voltage AC grid to bipolar DC distribution network. Due to the high primary side DC link voltage, the proposed converter employs the three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) topology at the primary side and 2-two level half bridge circuits for each DC distribution network. For the proposed converter particular structure, this paper conducts modeling the three winding transformer and the power transfer between each port. A decoupling method is adopted to simplify the power transfer model. The voltage controller design procedure is presented. In addition, the output current sharing controller is employed for current balancing between the parallel-connected secondary output ports. The proposed circuit and controller performance are verified by experimental results using a 30 kW prototype SST system.
This paper presents an analysis and a novel strategy for a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy conversion system under unbalanced grid voltage and non-linear load conditions. A proportional-resonant (PR) current controller is applied in both grid side converter (GSC) and rotor side converter (RSC). The RSC is controlled to mitigate the stator active power and the rotor current oscillations at double supply frequency under unbalanced grid voltage while the GSC is controlled to mitigate ripples in the dc-link voltage and compensate harmonic components of the network current. Simulation results using Psim simulation program are presented for a 2 MW DFIG to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
This study proposes a high-efficiency phase-shifted full-bridge (PSFB) converter with a wide input voltage range. The conventional PSFB converter is a useful topology in high-power applications. This converter not only achieves the zero-voltage switching of the primary switches, but also has small RMS current in the primary side. However, because the conventional PSFB converter has large freewheeling current in the primary side when it is designed considering the hold-up time of the converter, such a converter has high conduction loss at the primary switches. To solve this problem, a new PSFB converter is proposed in this study. The experiment is implemented with an input voltage ranging from a 320 V-400 V and an output power specification of 715 W.
New direct and indirect current control methods for a fault-tolerant active power filter topology are presented in this paper. Since a three-phase four-switch topology has a phase bridge current which cannot be directly controlled, a hysteresis control method in the α-β plane which controls the three-phase current in the two-phase stationary coordinate system is proposed. The improved SVPWM algorithm is able to eliminate the operation of the trigonometric functions in the traditional algorithm by rotating the α-β coordinates and alternating the sequence of the output vectors, which in turn simplifies the algorithm and reduces the switching frequency. The selection of the DC-side reference voltage and DC-side capacitor equalization strategy are also discussed. Simulation and experiments demonstrate that the proposed control method is correct and feasible.
DSTATCOM is active filter that reduces nonlinear and unbalanced currents. Researches about DSTATCOM are mainly divided two parts, one is the reference value calculation of compensation current depending on the calculation of the load-side average active power and dc-link capacitor average voltage, the other part is actual current control depending on the reference value of compensation current. This paper proposes a calculation of dc-link capacitor average voltage ripple voltage extraction instead of conventional method using LPF. The utility of the proposed algorithm is verified through the theoretical analysis and the experiment under unbalance loads and non-linear load.
In this paper, a novel DC link voltage control scheme for a single-phase PWM converter is proposed. The main idea of the control scheme is eliminating the effect of dc link voltage harmonics by using power balance of input side and output side. With the proposed strategy, faster transient response than that of conventional method using low-pass filter can be obtained. In addition, a half period current control, based at equal switching frequency, is proposed. The validity of the proposed scheme is verified by simulation results for GTO PWM converter system.
For electric traction using a large power converter, harmonic problem in the p-ower quality and regenerating energy in side of efficiency are important. Recently, by advance in power electronics technology, some countries are considering regenerative inverter from the points of view. when the electric tractions are stopped or driven through the falling slope way, it is very useful to supply surplus energy to the power source by regenerating system in the efficient side of energy and it is very economical. these regenerating energy are supported electrical equipment through DC line. In this research, the purposes are suppressing extra DC-line voltage and saving energy generated while electric traction is been driving on the falling slope way or reducing speed for railway using a 1500V DC-voltage. Besides, the accompanied defects of current distortion, low power factor and the voltage unbalance will be solved by developing the algorism of inverter having ability to compensate current harmonic.
The Joining of copper rod and zirconia tube was carried out in Ar gas atmosphere. There are two type of the joining. The one is the reaction bond consisting of Cu and zirconia was dominated by surface reaction wi th a undetctable very thin layer. It was found that copper elements were diffused to zirconia side, but that most of Z $r^{4+}$ ions were not diffused to copper side. This result means application of a DC voltage to migrate oxygen to the copper/zirconia interface can oxidize metal at the copper /zirconia interface, and the bonding reaction between zirconia and copper oxide may occur. The other is the reaction bonding was dominated by interdiffusion with a very thick interface layer. This result means application of a DC voltage can reduce zirconia at the interface. The bonding reaction is to be an alloying between Zr and Cr.
This paper presents a novel approach for achieving both a tight DC voltage regulation and a power factor control by applying the Reaching Law Sliding Mode Control (RL-SMC) and the conventional Sliding Mode Control (SMC). Applying these strategies on a matrix rectifier (MR) can achieve a unity grid side power factor when the DC load changes widely and it can provide a ripple-free output voltage that is easily affected by distortions of the three-phase ac voltage supply. Furthermore, by employing the reaching law on the SMC can solve the chatting problem of the sliding motion. Comparative Matlab simulations and experimental verifications for these strategies have been presented and discussed in this paper. The results show that by applying the SMC and RL-SMC on a MR can achieve a unity grid side power factor and a regulated ripple-free DC output.
We propose an efficient high voltage level shifter for a high side Buck converter driving a light-emitting diode (LED) lamp. The proposed circuit is comprised of a low voltage pulse width modulation (PWM) signal driver, a coupling capacitor, a resistor, and a diode. The proposed method uses a property of a PWM signal. The property is that the signal repeatedly transits between a low and high level at a certain frequency. A low voltage PWM signal is boosted to a high voltage PWM signal through a coupling capacitor using the property of the PWM signal, and the boosted high voltage PWM signal drives a p-channel metal oxide semiconductor (PMOS) transistor on the high side Buck converter. Experimental results show that the proposed level shifter boosts a low voltage (0 to 20 V) PWM signal at 125 kHz to a high voltage (370 to 380 V) PWM signal with a duty ratio of up to 0.9941.
