  • This paper presents a new full-bridge soft switching PWM DC-DC converter circuit topology that adding one switcher, one lossless snubber quasi-resonance capacity to power source for general welding machine This full-bridge soft switching DC-DC convoter· topology can applicable 600[V] switching device (IGBT)incase of AC 400[V] common power source because the voltage of active switcher is 1/2 of DC bus line voltage. And low voltage hight current out)ut that first coil current is smaller than second coil current in high frequency transformer can be obtained with decreasing path loss in conventional DC bus line switcher. As it operate ZCS/ZVS in full range, high frequency, high efficiency and high output are implemented at low voltage and high DC current switching power supplies. All of this items are got from simulation and the result of experiment. If make up for the weak points of this proposed circuit, it will be used more easily for next generation TIG, MIG and MAG type of arc-welding machine.

  • A new asymmetrical pulse width modulation (PWM) half bridge converter with improved ZVS performance is proposed. The ZVS operation of the proposed converter can be maintained from no load to full load conditions since the magnetizing current of the transformer contributes to the ZVS operation at light loads without considerable conduction loss of the transformer and switch. Synchronous rectification is employed to reduce the rectification loss. Operational principles, large signal modeling, ZVS analysis and design equations are presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed converter can achieve a large ZVS range and significant improvement in efficiency for a 100W (5V, 20A) prototype converter.

  • A 5.8-GHz 1W wireless power transmission system was used for charging a smart phone. The voltage of one RF power receiver with antenna was not enough for charging. Several power receivers for charging a smart phone was connected serially. The voltage of several RF power receivers are highly enough for charging a smart phone within 50cm. However, the lack of current from small capacitances of RF-DC converters is not suitable for charging smart phone. It means very long charging time. In this paper, the voltage multiplier circuits for RF-DC converters were analyzed to increase the current and voltage at the same time to reduce the charging time in smartphone RF wireless charging. Through the analysis of multiplier circuits, the 7-stage parallel multiplier circuit with voltage-doubler units are suitable for charging the smartphone, which supplies 5V and 700mA at 3V@5.8GHz.

  • Wind power generation system is one of the most useful energy resource using natural environment. One of the biggest problem we encountered is toot the wind speed is fluctuating sharply according to the weather conditions rather than it is stable. In this paper we do the equivalent modeling the mechanical energy of wind power turbine according to wind speed into the synchronous generator. We analyse the equivalent modeling output part of rectifier into DC/DC converter input part theoretically. We analyse a battery charging characteristics for power storage enabling the supply of stable power to the load. We design a system and do the modeling of it analytically so that it supplies a stable power to the load by constructing a DC-AC inverter point. Also we make a small size model usable in actual wind power generation system of 30kw and make an experiment and confirm its validity.

  • It is importent to have the switching frequency of power supplies increase in order to reduce their size and weight. But according to increasing the switching frequency, there are several defacts - that is switching losses, high voltage/current stresses and conduction losses and so on. That's why soft switching method was proposed. This paper presents the simulation and analysis of the new proposed Full bridge Zero-Voltage-Transition PWM DC-DC converter for developing that unit. This circuit doesen't increase the voltage and current stresses of main MOSFET switches. Voltage type quasi-resorent method is applied and expected high effenciency. Switching frequency is 100KHz and main switches are MOSFET.

  • This paper describes a DC-DC converter with MPPT control for thermoelectric energy harvesting. The designed circuit converts low voltage harvested from a thermoelectric generator into higher voltage for powering a load. A start-up circuit supplies VDD to a controller, and the controller turns on and off a NMOS switch of a main-boost converter. The converter supplies the boosted voltage to the load through the switch operation. Bulk-driven comparators can do the comparison under low voltage condition and are used for voltage regulation. Also, bulk-driven comparators raise system's efficiency. A peak conversion efficiency of 76% is achieved. The proposed circuit is designed in a 0.35um CMOS technology and its functionality has been verified through simulations. The designed chip occupies $933um{\times}769um$.

  • A new DC/DC converter with zero voltage switching is proposed for applications with high input voltage and high load current. The proposed converter has two circuit modules that share load current and power rating. Interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) is adopted to generate switch control signals. Thus, ripple currents are reduced at the input and output sides. For high-voltage applications, each circuit module includes two half-bridge legs that are connected in series to reduce switch voltage rating to $V_{in}/2$. These legs are controlled with the use of asymmetric PWM. To reduce the current rating of rectifier diodes and share load current for high-load-current applications, two center-tapped rectifiers are adopted in each circuit module. The primary windings of two transformers are connected in series at the high voltage side to balance output inductor currents. Two series capacitors are adopted at the AC terminals of the two half-bridge legs to balance the two input capacitor voltages. The resonant behavior of the inductance and capacitance at the transition interval enable MOSFETs to be switched on under zero voltage switching. The circuit configuration, system characteristics, and design are discussed in detail. Experiments based on a laboratory prototype are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

  • Recently, Uninterruptible power supply(UPS) is spotlighted from concern about black out, due to reserve power problem caused by increased power consumption. When fault occurs on the grid, UPS system supplies power to loads instead of the grid. Also, it is an advantage of possible operation as Energy storage system(ESS). Bi-directional power control of AC/DC Pulse width modulation(PWM) converter is essential for grid-connected UPS system. And, mode transfer control has to be performed considering phase and dynamic characteristic under grid condition. In this paper, control of mode transfer and bi-directional power control of AC/DC PWM converter is proposed for UPS system. Also, it is verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a new circuit topology of dc bus line switch-assisted half-bridge soft switching PWM inverter type dc-dc converter for arc welder. The proposed power converter is composed of typical voltage source half-bridge high frequency PWM inverter with a high frequency transformer link in addition to dc bus line side power semiconductor switching devices fer PWM control scheme and capacitive lossless snubbers. All the active power switches in the half-bridge arm and dc bus lines can achieve ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation operation and consequently the total turn-off switching losses can be significantly reduced. As a result, a high switching frequency of using IGBTs can be actually selected more than about 20 kHz. The effectiveness of this new converter topology is proved for low voltage and large current dc-dc power supplies such as arc welder from a practical point of view.

  • This paper proposes a 12pulse diode rectifier system with low kVA components suitable for powering switch mode power supplies or ac/dc converter applications. The proposed 12-pulse system employs a polyphase transformer, a zero sequence blocking transformer (ZSBT) in the dc link, and an interphase transformer. Results produce near equal leakage inductance in series with each diode rectifier bridge ensuring equal current sharing and performance improvements, The utility input currents and the voltage across the ZSBT are analyzed the kVA rating of each component in the proposed system is computed. The 5th , 7th , 17th and 19th harmonics are eliminated in the input line currents resulting in clean input power. The dc link voltage magnitude generated by the proposed rectifier system is nearly identical to a conventional to a conventional 6-pulse system. The proposed system is suitable to retrofit applications as well as in new PWM drive systems. Simulation and experimental results from a 208V , 10kVA system are shown.
