A track circuit is a critical piece of equipment that allows the existence of the trains on the track to be detected. Train detection is very important for the signal safety equipment. It allows for the confirmation of a train's location, the locking of switch points, the coordination of safe distance between trains, and the advance notice of a train's arrival. Track circuits can be powered by AC or DC. The DC track circuits are usually used on non-electrified tracks. On these tracks, many signal errors can be caused by lightning or problems with the power source. These problems can also cause damages to the rectifiers which must be repaired or replaced, promptly. This issue is especially problematic in the summer because of the higher frequency of thunderstorms. Issues with track circuits also cause problems for other equipment, such as railroad crossings and switch points. This further disrupts the safe operation of trains. This study aims to enhance maintenance efficiency and improve safety by utilizing parallel operation and multiplexing of a DC track circuit as well as installing an external surge protector. The experimental results on the operation of the proposed method is also presented.
In this paper, we proposed a high frequency equivalent circuit considering parasitic impedance components for differential noise analysis on the input stage during DC-DC buck converter switching operation. Based on the proposed equivalent circuit model, we presented a method to measure parasitic impedance parameters included in DC bus plate, IGBT, and PCB track using the gain phase method of a network analyzer. In order to verify the validity of this model, a DC-DC prototype consisting of a buck converter, a signal analyzer, and a LISN device, and then resonance frequency was measured in the frequency range between 150 kHz and 30 MHz. The validity of the parasitic impedance measurement method and the proposed equivalent model is verified by deriving that the measured resonance frequency and the resonance frequency of the proposed high frequency equivalent model are the same.
RFID system is applied to identify, locate and track people, cars, animals. In RFID system, the passive transponder without battery has some benefits than active transponder, such as no restriction in battery exchange and in battery’s life. But it needs auxiliary RF-DC conversion circuit. RF-DC conversion circuit originated from Wireless Power Transmission (WPT). In this paper, RF-DC conversion circuit consists of a microstrip patch antenna and impedance matching circuit, Cock-croft Walton circuit. And RF-DC conversion circuits have two kinds of T-type and Cross-type impedance matching circuits.
DC-DC buck converter is a critical building block in the power management integrated circuit (PMIC) architecture for the portable devices such as cellular phone, personal digital assistance (PDA) because of its power efficiency over a wide range of conversion ratio. To ensure a safe operation, avoid unexpected damages and enhance the reliability of the converter, fully-integrated protection circuits such as over voltage protection (OVP), under voltage lock out (UVLO), startup, and thermal shutdown (TSD) blocks are designed. In this paper, these three fully-integrated protection circuit blocks are proposed for use in the DC-DC buck converter. The buck converter with proposed protection blocks is operated with a switching frequency of 1 MHz in continuous conduction mode (CCM). In order to verify the proposed scheme, the buck converter has been designed using a 180 nm CMOS technology. The UVLO circuit is designed to track the input voltage and turns on/off the buck converter when the input voltage is higher/lower than 2.6 V, respectively. The OVP circuit blocks the buck converter's operation when the input voltage is over 3.3 V, thereby preventing the destruction of the devices inside the controller IC. The TSD circuit shuts down the converter's operation when the temperature is over $85^{\circ}C$. In order to verify the proposed scheme, these protection circuits were firstly verified through the simulation in SPICE. The proposed protection circuits were then fabricated and the measured results showed a good matching with the simulation results.
A new fully differential sample-and-hold circuit which can effectively compensate the offset voltage of an operational amplifier and the charge injection of a MOS switch is presented. The proposed circuit shows a true sample-and-hold function without a reset period or an input-track period. The prototype fabricated using a 1.2$\mu$m double-polysilicon CMOS process occupies an area of 550$\mu$m$\times$288$\mu$m and the error of the sampled ouput is 0.056% on average for 3V input at DC.
A contact-less power supply system (CPS) allows electrical energy to supply to mobile consumers without any electrical or mechanical contact. CPS works in the same principle as a transformer, with the track litz cable forming the primary circuit and the pickup as the secondary. The track power supply generates the high frequency alternating current in the track cable. The captured AC magnetic field generated by the track conductors produces electrical energy in the pickup coil and the pickup rectifier converts the high frequency AC power to DC while regulating the power to the load. This paper presents the theoretical analysis, simulation and experiment리 results of the series-parallel resonant converter working as contact-less power supply system.
The main objective of this paper is to design DC-DC MPPT circuit using chaotic pulse width modulation to track maximum power from solar PV module for space application. The direct control method of tracking is used to extract maximum power. The nominal duty cycle of the main switch of DC-DC SEPIC converter is adjusted so that the solar panel output impedance is equal to the input resistance of the SEPIC converter which results better spectral performance in the tracked voltages when compared to conventional PWM control. The conversion efficiency of the proposed MPPT system is increased when CPWM is used as a control scheme
In this paper, we manufactured the continuum receiver system for observing the continuum waves emitted from the continuum sources with using the 14m radio-telescope. The receiving system measures the total power of the continuum sources and consists of DC-amplifier, beam-chopper system. Phase-Locked Loop(PLL) circuit, blanking circuit and its period selection circuit, V/F converter, and counter part which are capable of interfacing with the computer which is used for a data acquisition and making the radio-telescope track the source. We compared the obsevation results which use the existing DVM method with the observation results which use the continuum receiver to measure the total power of the sources. Moreover, by method of beam switching observation which uses newly installed beam chopper system. We can significantly improve the observational efficiency more than the existing position switching observation method.
The 4-pole LHSM was composed of the figure-of-eight shaped 3-phase armature windings. DC field windings, and the segmented secondary with the transverse bar track. The motor was designed on the base of the performance characteristic equations and the equivalent circuit model, with the coefficients of the magnetic shape. These coefficients were computed from the analytical expressions and examined from FEM analysis. The magnetic equivalent circuit of 3-D model of LHSM was obtained. and this concept provided the equivalent models for 2-D FEM analysis. Therefore, the airgap field, the lift and thrust force were calculated and compared with the results of magnetic equivalent circuit method.
