Distribution Network Switching Automation Using Active Web Based Management

  • Electric utility companies have the responsibility of providing good electricity for their customers. They have introduced the DAS(Distribution Automation System) to automate the power distribution networks. DAS engineers require state-of-the-art applications, such as a way to actively manage the distribution system and gain economic benefits from a flexible DAS architectural design. The existing DAS is not capable of handling these needs. It requires operator intervention whenever feeder overloading is detected while operator error could cause the feeder overload area to be extended. It also utilizes a closed architecture and it is therefore difficult to meet the system migration and future enhancement requirements. This paper represents a web based, platform-independent, flexible DAS architectural design and active database application. Recent advanced Internet technologies are fully utilized in this new DAS architecture allowing it to meet the system migration and future enhancement requirements. By using an active database, the DAS can minimize the feeder overloading area in the distribution system without operator intervention, thereby minimizing mistakes due to operator error.

  • Distribution Automation System (DAS) has been designed and implemented for feeder automation using the Paircable, Optical-Fiber, Wireless, TRS as a communication media. KEPCO has been constructed DAS since 1984. We have two types of DAS. one is large-scale DAS for major city in korea, the other is small-scale DAS (or the rest of major city. we are plan to finish small-scale DAS by end of 2001.

  • The main purpose of the distribution automation system (DAS) is to achieve efficient operation of primary distribution systems by monitoring and control of the feeder remote terminal unit(FRTU) deployed on the distribution feeders. DAS simulators are introduced to verify the functions of the application software installed in the central control unit(CCU) of the DAS. Because each DAS is developed on the basis of its own specific data model, the power system data cannot be easily transferred from the DAS to the simulator or vice versa. This paper presents a common information model(CIM)-based DAS simulator to achieve interoperability between the simulator and the DASs developed by different vendors. The CIM-based data model conversion between Smart DMS (SDMS) and Total DAS (TDAS) has been performed to establish feasibility of the proposed scheme.

  • In this paper, problems and solutions are proposed for applying IEC 61850 to Distribution Automation System(DAS). Communication protocol integration in power automation system have issued by IEC standards, IEC 61850 of them has researched for applying IEC 61850 to many areas of power system in spite of that it was made for substation automation system. Especially, DAS is just about to apply IEC 61850 by communication network change from serial to ethernet although DNP 3.0 is used. But it's impossible to apply directly IEC 61850 to DAS by difference of environment which unfixed wide area and separated nodes in power distribution system unlike concept of IEC 61850 is made by Substation Automation System(SAS) environment of limited space. Thus, this paper proposed applications of three types which conceptual, practical, and future to consider problems and solutions when apply IEC 61850 to Ethernet based DAS.

  • In today's competitive power market, electric power utilities have strived to provide energy at an acceptable level of quality due to increased expectations from customers. For this reason, electric power utilities have invested in electric equipment and new techniques. That is the Distribution Automation System (DAS). A merit of DAS is the ability to reduce outage time because of fast service restoration. However, DAS is usually installed in outdoor environments. Therefore, their efficiency is affected by the external conditions. Lightning creates varying degrees of physical stress on DAS. This paper focuses on the reliability of DAS for lightning. Four application studies were performed to compare the reliability indices.

  • To service with high quality electricity to customer, the utilities consider the DAS (Distribution Automation System) as a good means of it. The backbone of the DAS are communication and computer technique. Most of all, from the economical and functional point of view, the selection of transmission media for system communication is the key factor to achieve a successful DAS. In this paper author propose the method of the DAS communication which share its channel with CATV transmission line and analyze the effect.

  • KEPCO is faced with a number of network choice for Distribution Automation System(DAS), such as Power Line, Pair. Coaxial and Optical Cable, etc. The increasing use of DAS requires suitable communication networks. KEPCO has exhausted much efforts to implement its own standard DAS in possible early date. This paper presents the DAS in KEPCO and some of initial design efforts toward KEPCO's DAS at KEPRI.

  • Bei der maschinellen $\"{U}bersetzung(=M\"{U})\;\"{u}bernimmt$ ein Computer die Aufgabe, Texte von einer $nat\"{u}rlichen$ Sprache in eine andere automatisch zu $\"{u}bertragen$. Die meisten $M\"{U}-Systeme$ wurden bis in die 90er Jahre $haupts\"{a}chlich$ von grossen Firmen benutzt, die viele kostenaufwendige $\"{U}bersetzungsarbeiten\;zu\;bew\"{a}ltigen$ hatten. Aber die schnelle Verbreitung des Internets in den Alltag vieler Menschen hat die Situation radikal $ge\"{a}ndert$, und zwar so, $da\ss$ ein $M\"{U}-System$ viel $h\"{a}ufiger$ verwendet wird und es auch bei individuellem Bedarf Anwendung findet. Mit zunehmendem Volumen der zu $\"{u}bersetzenden$ Texte im Internet wird die Nachfrage nach einem $M\"{U}-System\;immer\;gr\"{o}sser$. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, ein Verfahren der maschinellen $\"{U}bersetzung$ der deutschen WWW-Texte ins Koreanische zu beschreiben. Dazu habe ich versucht, zwei unterschiedliche $M\"{U}-Systeme$ zu koppeln. Das Potential dieser Methode ist vor allem deswegen zu untersuchen, weil die sogenannte Lingware fur das Koreanische und Deutsche, wie z.B. Lexikon, Grammatik, Transfer-Lexikon, nur begrenzt zur $Verf\"{u}gung$ steht. Das erste System ist das $M\"{U}-System\;SYSTRAN\;f\"{u}r$ das Sprachpaar Deutsch-Englisch, das die deutschen WWW-Texte ins Englische $\"{u}bersetzt$. Das zweite ist em $M\"{U}-System\;f\"{u}r$ das Sprachpaar Englisch-Deutsch, das die vom Deutschen ins Englische $\"{u}bersetzten$ Texte ins Koreanische $\"{u}bersetzt$. Bei der Evaluierung der $\"{U}bersetzungen$ vom Deutschen ins Koreanische konnten etwa $30\%$ der Ausgaben als korrekt bewertet werden.

  • A Distribution Automation System (DAS) is operated by monitoring and control of the field statesusing Feeder Remote Terminal Units (FRTUs) installed together withautomatic switches.An optimal placement of automatic switchescan enhanceefficiencyof the operation and restoration, and improve the power supply reliability ofa DAS.This paper proposes an algorithm to decide the optimal placement of automatic switches ina DAS.The proposed algorithm was developed ona DAS witha six sections and three links configuration. The proposed algorithm was provided inaneight-feeder power distribution system.

  • Computer and communication of based IT technology use to das that remote control, monitoring, measuring automation gas switch, recloser totaled far about $20{\sim}30km$. For increasing efficiency billing, metering of high voltage customer use to amr system. If between das and amr interface operate when generated fault in high voltage electric equipment of customer part, amr system serve to das quickly in fault information data, correct fault location.
