  • The main purpose of the distribution automation system (DAS) is to achieve efficient operation of primary distribution systems by monitoring and control of the feeder remote terminal unit(FRTU) deployed on the distribution feeders. DAS simulators are introduced to verify the functions of the application software installed in the central control unit(CCU) of the DAS. Because each DAS is developed on the basis of its own specific data model, the power system data cannot be easily transferred from the DAS to the simulator or vice versa. This paper presents a common information model(CIM)-based DAS simulator to achieve interoperability between the simulator and the DASs developed by different vendors. The CIM-based data model conversion between Smart DMS (SDMS) and Total DAS (TDAS) has been performed to establish feasibility of the proposed scheme.

  • Distribution systems for operating the various systems should be operated organically. Distribution systems for organic operations extend the functionality of the system and system integration for the extension is doing. However, in systems integration for each unique non-standard definition of linkage and exchange systems are used. Non-standard definition of a unique linkage and exchange systems in the maintenance and expansion will result in many negative results. To solve these problems, the system and the exchange of information about the links between systems should define standards. IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) power to solve these problems in the field of the Common Information Model (Common Information Model, CIM) standard (IEC61970, IEC61968) is defined as the transmission and distribution system integration and standardization for the exchange of information. In this paper, standardized system for building CIM-based distribution automation system should describe the process of building. In addition, the process of establishing a common information model needed (CIM) defined and associated services for a defined set of models is proposed in the standardization process.

In this digital management environment, continuously and powerfully they would advance for becoming the best of the world. For strategic changes to take place in industry 3 key important factors need to be included ; Integration of tasks function and process, Decentralization of information, Responsibility, Finally simplification of products and product structures.

  • DAS(Distribution Automation System) is equipped with several software applications such as service restoration, loss minimization, and protective relay coordination. The software applications of DAS are very sensitive to the amount of section load being carried by a particular section of distribution lines. Moreover, each software application requires a different parameter of the section load according to its purpose. Therefore, This paper proposes a new section load management method using real-time measurement data of the distribution lines. In order to provide accurate data to DAS applications, this method considers section loads in terms of the relationship of power versus time. In order to establish that the proposed method is feasible, a performance-testing simulator was developed, and case studies were conducted for a modified real distribution network.

  • A single line diagram is a graphic user interface to represent electrical connectivity between power equipments in distribution automation systems. This paper proposes a new single line auto-drawing technique based on the service oriented architecture. Web service, CIM(Common Information Model) and SVG(Scalable Vector Graphics) are adopted to implement SOA concept. A web service demo system was established which is configured with the service provider, consumer and broker to verify the feasibility of this study.

  • Since IT technology was combined with the power system, many systems and applications have been developed and also Integration between systems has been followed in order to meet much higher level. Futher more to reduce the cost of system integration there were needs standardized data model and interfaces among systems or applications. so IEC has reached to establish standard interfaces and data model. Most of the current distribution automation system in South Korea, each operating independently in an enclosed environment, are managed. As time goes by, however, because of resons that the system is increasingly complex by implenting new kind of power source and demand for electricity is rapidly increasing, it became difficult to predict with a independent data from one system. In this paper, In order to apply common infomation model and standard interfaces which are defined in IEC 61970/61968 to the exisiting distribution automation system in KEPCO, several software tools and applications which have been created will be introduced.
