A Modular Formulation for Flexible Multibody Systems Including Nonlinear Finite Elements

  • A formulation for flexible multibody systems (MBS) is investigated, where rigid MBS substructures are coupled with flexible bodies described by a nonlinear finite element (FE) approach. Several aspects that turned out to be crucial for the presented approach are discussed. The system describing equations are given in differential algebraic form (DAE), where many sophisticated solvers exist. In this paper the performance of several solvers is investigated regarding their suitability for the application to the usually highly stiff DAE. The substructures are connected with each other by nonlinear algebraic constraint equations. Further, partial derivatives of the constraints are required, which often leads to extensive algebraic trans-formations. Handcoding of analytically determined derivatives is compared to an approach utilizing algorithmic differentiation.

PSpice와 Simulink를 이용한 DC-DC 컨버터 설계 및 해석에 대한 연구 (A Study on Design and analysis of DC-DC converter using PSpice and Simulink Co-Simulation)

  • 본 논문에서는 DC-DC 컨버터의 설계 및 해석 방법을 PSpice와 Simulink를 이용한 Co-Simulation방법으로 제안하였다. 일반적인 회로 및 제어기 설계방식은 회로와 제어기를 각각 설계하여 시제품으로 측정하는 방법과 이상적인 모델을 이용하여 시뮬레이션 하는 방법을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 상용 소자모델로 구성된 컨버터를 PSpice로 설계하였고, Simulink에서 PSpice Solver를 이용하여 시뮬레이션 함으로써 일반적인 설계 방식보다 높은 신뢰성을 가진 시뮬레이션 방법을 제안한다.

자동차용 시트 폼의 시간 의존적 거동 예측을 위한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis to Predict the Time-dependent Behavior of Automotive Seat Foam)

  • Generally, numerical approaches of evaluation for vehicle seat comfort have been studied without considering time-dependent characteristics and the only seating moment have been considered in seat design. However, the comfort not only at the seating moment but also in the long-term should be evaluated because the passengers are sitting repeatedly on the seat to drive the vehicle for hours. So, the aim of this paper is to carry out a quantitative evaluation of the time-dependent mechanical characteristics of seat foams and to suggest a process for predicting the viscoelastic deformation of seat foam in response to long-term driving. To characterize the seat materials, uniaxial compression and tension tests were carried out for the seat foam and stress relaxation tests were performed for evaluating the viscoelastic behavior of the seat foam. A unit solid element model was used to verify the reliability of the material model with respect to the compression behavior of the seat foam. It is not straightforward to evaluate the time-dependent compression of foams using the explicit solver because the viscoelastic material model is limited. To use the explicit solver, the material model must be modified using stress-degradation data. Normalized stress relaxation moduli were added to the stress-strain curves obtained under static conditions to achieve a time-dependent set of stress-strain relations that were compatible with the implicit solver. There was good agreement between the analysis results and experimental data.

해안지역에서의 용존성 물질의 이송확산 거동 수치모의 (Numerical Simulation of Solute Transport in Coastal Areas)

  • 본 연구에서는 파랑과 흐름이 공존하고 있는 해안지역에 이용이 가능한 물에 용해된 물질의 정확한 이동을 예측하기 위한 수심적분형 수치모의 기법을 제시한다. 대상 영역에 일반적으로 발생하는 파랑의 전파와 변형 과정 및 쇄파와 흐름의 발달 과정에 대한 모의가 가능한 boussinesq equation 흐름모형과 동일한 과정을 거쳐 유도된 수심적분형 물질수송모형을 지배방정식으로 이용한다. 지배방정식은 approximate riemann solver를 이용하는 유한체적법을 이용하여 해석한다. 제시된 수치모형을 이용하여 해일발생에 의한 흐름양상을 계측한 실험을 재현하였으며, 해당 수역에 가상의 물질의 이송과 확산에 대한 수치모의를 수행하고 그 결과를 분석하였다.

Cut-off Probe Frequency Spectrum의 물리적 해석

  • Although the cut-off probe, a precise measurement method for the electron density, is widely used in the industry, the physics on the wave spectrum of the cut-off is not understood yet, only cut-off point frequency containing the information of electron density has been analyzed well. This paper analyzes the microwave frequency spectrum of the cut-off probe to see the physics behind using both microwave field simulation (CST Microwave Studio) and simplified circuit simulation. The result shows that the circuit model well reproduces the cut-off wave spectrum especially in the low frequency regime where the wavelength of the driving frequency is larger than the characteristic length and reveals the physics of transmission characteristics with frequency as resonances between vacuum, plasma and sheath. Furthermore, by controlling the time domain in solver of the microwave simulator, the cut-off like transmission peaks above the cut-off frequency which has been believed as cavity effect is verified as chamber geometry effect. The result of this paper can be used as the basis for the improvement of cut-off probe.

급변류에 의한 하상변동 예측을 위한 수심적분 수치모형 (Depth Averaged Numerical Model for Sediment Transport by Transcritical Flows)

  • 천이류와 같은 급변류에 의한 하상변동을 예측하기 위한 이차정확도의 유한체적법 모형을 제시하였다. 부정류 조건하에서의 유사이송과 하상변동문제에 적용하기 위하여 유사이송모형을 천수방정식과 연계하였다. 지배방정식은 MUSCL 기반의 유한체적법을 이용하였고, 계산요소간 흐름률은 HLLC approximate Riemann solver를 이용하여 계산하였다. 일차원과 이차원 수로에서의 댐붕괴파에 의한 하상변동문제와 월류로 인한 하류부 댐사면의 침식문제에 적용한 결과, 적정한 매개변수를 이용하는 경우에 전반적으로 정확한 수치모의 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 전반적인 계산결과는 수치적으로 안정적이고 물리적으로 타당한 결과를 나타내었고, 이로부터 제시된 수치모의 기법이 상류와 사류조건하에서의 하상변동 문제에 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

복합재료 Wavy-Lap Joint의 3-D 상세 응력 해석 (Refined 3-D Stress Analysis of Composite Wavy-Lap Joint)

  • Due to intrinsic load eccentricity, severe peel stress concentration occurs at both ends of the single-lap joint. To avoid load eccentricity as well as the singular tensile peel stress in the joint interface, composite wavy-lap joint is proposed. In this paper, refined 3-D stress analysis of wavy-lap joint is performed by finite element method using parallel mutifrontal solver. Analysis results show that the singular tensile peel stress concentration is totally avoided in wavy-lap joint, and that loads are more evenly transferred over the length of the joint. Therefore, the strength of wavy-lap joint is significantly higher than that of conventional single-lap joint. And it is believed that even higher strengths can be obtained by optimizing the new design configuration.

  • As a hybrid model of continuum motion description which combines the advantages of classical kinematical descriptions i.e. Lagrangian and Eulerian description, the ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) description is adopted for the simulation of a fluid-structure interaction of solid propellant rocket interior. The fluid-structure interaction phenomenon with the deformation of solid domain during the simulation. The developed solver is applied flow and propellant structure. The computed results show complex flow physics in the combustion chamber and the behavior of a solid propellant deformation.

  • Numerical analysis is conducted to design the high temperature heat exchanger of Stirling engine by using the commercial CFD solver FLUENT. The fin-tube type of heat exchanger numerical calculation is conducted by changing the shape, number and material of fin shape of working fluid channel, etc in three-dimensional combustion field. Adjusted one-way constant velocity is used as the representative velocity of oscillating flow. The optimum design of heat exchanger considering the heat trasfer capability is suggested by using the calculation results.

  • The noise of a refrigerator is consisted of the various flow noises of a refrigerator fan, a compressor and a condenser fan. The demands of high flow rate, compact space and low noise are to be accommodated, especially, in the case of a premium refrigerator. In this study, flow field, noise sources and flow noise are analyzed numerically and compared to the measured data. The flow field is calculated with 3-dimensional CFD solver - SC/Tetra, and the noise source and aeroacoustic noise is analyzed with FlowNoise S/W. Low noise axial fan can be developed by controlling the dominant noise source area.
