Numerical flow computations around an aeroelastic 3D square cylinder immersed in the turbulent boundary layer are shown. Present computational code can be characterized by three numerical aspects which are 1) the method of artificial compressibility is adopted for the incompressible flow computations, 2) the domain decomposition technique is used to get better grid point distributions, and 3) to achieve the conservation law both in time and space when the flow is computed a with moving and transformed grid, the time derivatives of metrics are evaluated using the time-and-space volume. To provide time-dependant inflow boundary conditions satisfying prescribed time-averaged velocity profiles, a convenient way for generating inflow turbulence is proposed. The square cylinder is modeled as a 4-lumped-mass system and it vibrates with two-degree of freedom of heaving motion. Those blocks which surround the cylinder are deformed according to the cylinder's motion. Vigorous oscillations occur as the vortex shedding frequency approaches cylinder's natural frequencies.
The thermocatalytic decomposition of methane is an environmentally attractive approach to $CO_2$-free production of hydrogen. The fluidized bed was proposed for the continuous withdraw of product carbon from the reactor. The usage of carbon black was reported as stable catalyst for decomposition of methane. Therfore, carbon black (DCC-N330) is used as catalyst. A fluidized bed reactor made of quartz with 0.055 m I.D. and 1.0 m in height was selected for the thermo-catalytic decomposition. The porpane-containg methnae decomposition reaction was operated at the temperature range of 850-900 $^{\circ}C$ methane gas velocity of 1.0 $U_{mf}$ and the operating pressure of 1.0 atm. In this work, propane was added as reactant to make methane conversion higher. Therefore we compared with methane conversion and pre-experiment methane conversion that using only methane as reactant. The carbon black, after experiment, was measured in particle size and surface area and analyzed surface of the carbon black by TEM.

Hydrogen has been recognized of the energy source for the future, in terms of the most environmentally acceptable energy source. A pressurized fluidized bed reactor made of carbon steel with 0.076 m I.D. and 1.0 m in height was employed for the thermocatalytic decomposition of methane to produce amount of $CO_2$ - free hydrogen with validity from a commercial point of view. The fluidized bed was proposed for withdrawing of product carbons from the reactor continuously. The methane decomposition rate with the carbon black N330 catalyst was rapidly reached a quasi-steady state and remained for several hour. The methane thermocatalytic decomposition reaction was carried out at the temperature range of 850 - 950 $^{\circ}C$, methane gas velocity of 2.0 $U_{mf}$ and the operating pressure of 1.0 -3.0 bar. Effect of operating parameters such as reaction temperature, pressure on the reaction rates was investigated and predicted the effect of a change in conditions on a chemical equilibrium thermodynamically, according to Le Chatelier's principle.

This paper presents an algorithm for the design of 2 dimension separable denominator digital filter(SDDF). The proposed algorithm is based on the reduced dimensional decomposition not only 2 dimension SDDF's but also of given 2 dimension specification. The frequency domain design of 2 dimension separable denominator digital filters based on the reduced dimensional decomposition can be realized when the given 2 dimension frequency specification are optimally decomposed into a pair of 1 dimension digital filter specification via singular value decomposition. the algorithm is computationally efficient and numerically stable. In case of the low pass filter, the approximation error of the proposed design algorithm is $e_{m}$=5.17, $e_{r1}$ =8.78, $e_{r2}$=7.34, while in case of band pass filter, the approximation error is $e_{m}$=13.00, $e_{r1}$=62.76, $e_{r2}$=62.7676.7676

The mode shapes of a segmented hull model towed in a model basin were predicted using both the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and cross random decrement technique. The proper orthogonal decomposition, which is also known as Karhunen-Loeve decomposition, is an emerging technology as a useful signal processing technique in structural dynamics. The technique is based on the fact that the eigenvectors of a spatial coherence matrix become the mode shapes of the system under free and randomly excited forced vibration conditions. Taking advantage of the simplicity of POD, efforts have been made to reveal the mode shapes of vibrating flexible hull under random wave excitation. First, the segmented hull model of a 400 K ore carrier with 3 flexible connections was towed in a model basin under different sea states and the time histories of the vertical bending moment at three different locations were measured. The measured response time histories were processed using the proper orthogonal decomposition, eventually to obtain both the first and second vertical vibration modes of the flexible hull. A comparison of the obtained mode shapes with those obtained using the cross random decrement technique showed excellent correspondence between the two results.
Utilizing a structure of operations known as Dissection-Motion-Operations (DMO), a set of mathematics propositions or area-formulas in school mathematics will be introduced through shape-to-shape transforms. The underlying theme for DMO is problem-solving through visual reasoning and proving manipulatively or electronically vs. rote learning and memorization. Visual reasoning is the focus here where two operations that constitute DMO are utilized. One operation is known as Dissection (or Decomposition) operation that operates on a given region in 2D or 3D and dissects it into a number of subregions. The second operation is known as Motion (or Composition) operation applied on the resultant sub-regions to form a distinct area (or volume)-equivalent region. In 2D for example, DMO can transform a given polygon into a variety of new and distinct polygons each of which is area-equivalent to the original polygon (cf [Rahim, M. H. & Sawada, D. (1986). Revitalizing school geometry through Dissection-Motion Operations. Sch. Sci. Math. 86(3), 235-246] and [Rahim, M. H. & Sawada, D. (1990). This paper focuses on lossy medical image compression methods for medical images that operate on three-dimensional(3-D) irreversible integer wavelet transform. We offer an application of unbalanced tree structure algorithm to medical images, using a 3-D unbalanced wavelet decomposition and a 3-D unbalanced spatial dependence tree. The wavelet decomposition is accomplished with integer wavelet filters implemented with the lifting method. We have tested our encoder on volumetric medical images using different integer filters and coding unit sizes. The coding unit sizes of 16 slices save considerable dynamic memory(RAM) and coding delay from full sequence coding units used in previous works. If we allow the formation of trees of different lengths, then we can accomodate more transaxial scales than three. The encoder and decoder can then keep track of the length of the tree in which each pixel resides through the sequence of decompositions. Results show that, even with these small coding units, our algorithm with certain filters performs as well and better in lossy coding than previous coding systems using 3-D integer unbalanced wavelet transforms on volumetric medical images.

In order to find out the decomposing factors of Sumithion in mineral diluents, the physical and chemical properties of the diluents such as talcs, bentonites, diatomaceous earth and other clay minerals was studied in relation to the decomposition rate of Sumithion in dust formulations. The total base, moisture adsorption capacity, pH, specific surface, water contents, active $Fe^{++}$, ignition loss and cation exchange capacity were analysed as the properties of mineral diluents, and these properties were correlated with the stability of Sumithion in dust formulations. And in hope of finding out the main factors among those properties of diluents, the decomposed products of Sumithion in dust formulations prepared with standard Sumithion were separated by the methods of column chromatography and investigated by thin layer chromatography. The following results were otbained; 1. The total base, moisture adsorption capacity, specific surface, water contents, active $Fe^{++}$ and cation exchange capacity of mineral diluents were found to be highly effective on the rate of decomposition of Sumithion in dust formulations. 2. Decomposed products of Sumithion in dust formulations were found to be dimethylphosphorothionate, 3-methyl-4-nitro phenol and its derivatives. And one fraction was not dissolved in n-hexane and ethylether, but was soluble in methylalcohol and ethylalcohol. 3. The moat highly correlated properties of diluents with the decomposition rate of Sumithion in dust were found to be the total base and water contents. 4. In regard to the kind of diluents, it was found that the rate of decomposition of Sumithion in dust formulations was higher in order of bentonite, diatomaceous earth, kaolin and talc.
