굴패각을 이용한 친환경적 지오텍스타일 게비언의 지지력 평가 (Estimation on Bearing Capacity of Environmentally Sustainable Geotextile Gabion Using Oystershell)

  • Recently, oystershell wastes cause serious environmental problem and the need for the researches on the recycling of oystershell have been increased and various methods are already in operation. Field plate bearing tests and numerical analysis were performed to investigate the bearing capacity of oystershell filled geotextile gabion which utilized the waste oystershell at the coastal oyster farm site. The waste oystershell mixed soil specimens were prepared for the laboratory test and field test in terms of varying blending ratio of granite soil and oystershell. Based on the cyclic plate load test results, the spring constant, subgrade modulus of ground, and the reinforcing parameters were determined. The field plate load test results indicate that the bearing capacity of the soil ground with the oystershell mixed ratio of 20% is greater than that of the original ground. Two-dimensional numerical analysis was evaluated the expected deformation in the given conditions. Analysis results show a similar characteristics on bearing capacity with the results of the field plate load test. These findings suggest that the oystershells are very promising construction materials for landfill and earth embankment in coastal area.

경골목조주택의 벽체-바닥체 못결합부의 감쇠비에 관한 연구 (Studies on Damping Ratio of Nailed Joint Connecting Wall to Floor in Light Frame House)

  • In the design of wood structures, the consideration of the dynamic load effect has been increased. Generally, damping ratio is presented as the method of considering dynamic load effect. So, the relationship between joint type and damping ratio was investigated. It has been known that the joint extremely damp the dynamic load in wood structures. Static test was performed to determine the effects of nail size and friction area on joint strength and stiffness. Joint strength and stiffness were increased with nail size. However, the static properties of joint was not affected by friction area. Cyclic test was performed to determine the effects of nail size, friction area and load magnitude on damping ratio, Damping ratio was affected by all factors. Increasing the width of the bottom plate was suggested as the most adequate method to increase the damping ratio without the reduction of the static properties of the structures.

Fatigue experiment of stud welded on steel plate for a new bridge deck system

  • This paper presents push-out tests of stud shear connectors to examine their fatigue behavior for developing a new composite bridge deck system. The fifteen push-out specimens of D16 mm stud welded on 9 mm steel plate were fabricated according to Eurocode-4, and a series of fatigue endurance test and residual strength test were performed. Additionally, the stiffness and strength variations by cyclic loading were compared. The push-out test, when the stiffness reduction ratio of the specimens was 0.95 under cyclic load, resulted in the failure of the studs. The stiffness variation of the push-out specimens additionally showed that the application of cyclic loads reduced the residual strength. The fatigue strength of the shear connectors were compared with the design values specified in the Eurocode-4, ASSHTO LRFD and JSSC codes. The comparison result showed that the fatigue endurance of the specimens satisfies the design values of these codes.

  • Experimental studies are investigated for RC column retrofitting under cyclic load. Design considerations are jacketing of steel plate of carbon fiber with epoxy bonding, use of unbonded plate, additional concrete grouting, ratio of additional longitudinal steel reinforcement and longitudinal configuration of additional ties. Investigated results are 1) jacketing and additional reinforcements are effective for strengthening, 2) use of additional grouting is less effective with respect to increased section. Future studies are needed to evaluate the requirements about additional reinforcements for member stress level, 3) bond between original and additional grout concrete.

  • The general concept of reinforced roadbed in the high-speed railway is to cope with the soft ground for the bearing capacity and settlement of foundation soil. The cyclic plate load tests were performed to determine the behavior of reinforced ground with multiple layers of geogrid underlying by soft soil. Five series of test were conducted with varying the soil profile conditions including the ground level, type of soil, and the thickness of each soil layer. Based on these plate load tests, laboratory model tests under cyclic loading were conducted to know the effect of geogrid reinforcement in particular for the high-speed rail roadbed. The permanent settlement and the behavior of earth pressure in reinforced roadbed subjected to a combination of static and dynamic loading are presented.

주기하중을 받는 골조강판벽의 실험연구 (Framed Steel Plate Wall subject to Cyclic Lateral Load)

  • 스티프너가 없는 얇은 강판을 사용한 골조강판벽 시스템에 대한 실험연구를 실시하였다. 1경간 3층의 골조강판벽에 주기횡하중을 재하하였으며, 주요한 실험 변수는 강판의 두께, 기둥의 강도이다. 실험결과를 이용하여 강판벽의 강도, 변형능력, 에너지 소산능력을 연구하였으며, 이를 토대로 골조강판벽의 파괴메카니즘을 분석하였다. 실험결과, 얇은 강판을 사용하는 골조강판벽은, 높은 강도, 낮은 연성능력, 캔틸레버거동특성을 나타내는 일반적인 가새골조나 스티프너 보강된 강판벽과는 여러 면에서 다른 거동특성을 나타낸다. 골조강판벽에서는 강판의 조기국부좌굴과 인장응력장 작용이 발생하면서, 전 층에 고르게 항복변형이 분포된다. 이로 인하여 변형형태는 휨변형과 전단변형의 복합형태를 나타내며, 우수한 강도 및 에너지 소산능력과 연성모멘트 골조에 버금가는 변형능력을 나타내었다. 그러나 일반적인 가새골조와는 달리 보, 기둥 등의 골조부재는 강판의 인장응력장을 지지할 수 있도록 설계되어야 하며, 따라서 기둥의 강도가 작고 콤팩트 단면을 사용하지 않은 경우에는 약층현상이 발생하며 강도가 급격히 저하되었다. 얇은 강판을 사용하는 골조강판벽은 일반적인 가새골조나 스티프너 보강 강판벽과는 차별되는 우수한 변형능력을 갖고 있으므로 연성내진구조시스템으로 활용할 수 있다.

표층처리지반에서의 반복하중재하시험을 통한 지지력 분석 (Bearing Capacity Analysis on Cyclic Loading of Soft Ground by Surface Reinforcement)

  • 초연약 지반의 개량을 위한 중장비의 안전한 주행성 확보를 위해 제일 우선적으로 검토되어야 하는 표층처리공법에 대한 연구는 아직 미진하며 표층처리공법 설계 시 건설기계의 반복적인 주행으로 인한 소성침하를 고려하지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 표층처리공법에서 가장 많이 사용하고 있는 보강재인 지오텍스타일, 인장강도가 200kN/m와 100kN/m인 지오그리드와 대나무망으로 보강한 후 1.0m의 모래로 복토한 지반에서 현장 평판재하시험과 반복 평판재하시험을 실시하여 각 보강재별 지지력과 거동양상을 비교 평가하고자 한다. 평판재하시험 결과 대나무망을 사용하였을 경우 다른 보강재를 사용하였을 때보다 BCR값이 최대 1.5배 증가하였다.

복합판으로 보강된 철근콘크리트 기둥의 내진성능연구 (Earthquake-Resistant Capacity of RC Columns Retrofitted by Fiber-Steel Composite Plate)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 기둥의 내진성능을 개선하기 위한 연구로서, 섬유-강판이 복합된 보강재를 사용하여 보강기둥의 내력특성을 연구하였다. 이용 가능한 복합판의 보강량을 선정하고, 기존의 탄소섬유와 강판으로 보강한 기둥과 함께 밴드형 보강실험체를 제작하여 일정축력을 받는 기둥에 반복횡하중을 가하여 하중, 변의 및 연성도를 조사하였다. 내진성능의 척도가 되는 변위연성도, 에너지연성도, 누적소산에너지 및 감쇠비를 비교하여 복합판을 사용한 부재의 내력특성을 평가하였다. 연구결과, 복합판을 사용하여 기둥을 보강할 경우에도 다른 보강방법과 같이 양호한 내진성능을 확보할 수 있었다. 또한, 밴드형식으로 보강한 보강실험체의 연성능력은 모두 양호한 편이나, 최대하중 증가를 위해서는 일정량 이상의 보강량이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 연성도 평가로는 에너지연성도가 변위연성도에 비하여 보강기둥의 연성능력을 잘 나타내었다.

  • The main objective of this study was to examine structural behavior of reinforced concrete column and steel beam joint. composite specimens about 3/4 of the actual beam column connection assembly were tested by applying cyclic load through actuators. Test variables include face bearing plate(FBP), extended face bearing plate(E-FBP), VIR, U-bar and sub beam. There is not much differenced between specimens with sub beam and without sub beam. Test results also show that the joint strength of test specimen is close to the predicted strength by ASCE guideline.

Seismic behavior of strengthened reinforced concrete coupling beams by bolted steel plates, Part 1: Experimental study

  • An experimental study of five full-scale coupling beam specimens has been conducted to investigate the seismic behavior of strengthened RC coupling beams by bolted side steel plates using a reversed cyclic loading procedure. The strengthened coupling beams are fabricated with different plate thicknesses and shear connector arrangements to study their respective effects on load-carrying capacity, strength retention, stiffness degradation, deformation capacity, and energy dissipation ability. The study revealed that putting shear connectors along the span of coupling beams produces no significant improvement to the structural performance of the strengthened beams. Translational and rotational partial interactions of the shear connectors that would weaken the load-carrying capacity of the steel plates were observed and measured. The hierarchy of failure of concrete, steel plates, and shear connectors was identified. Furthermore, detailed effects of plate buckling and various arrangements of shear connectors on the post-peak behavior of the strengthened beams are discussed.
