Purpose This study examines the roles of firm-level IT competence in the relationship between marketing orientation and marketing performance in the context of Chinese SMEs. To achieve this goal, this study presents and empirically tests a model of how competitor orientation and customer orientation can be exploited to positively influence marketing performance through IT competence. Design/methodology/approach The competitor orientation and customer orientation are based on the market orientation construct developed by Trainor et al. (2011). IT competence re based on the market orientation construct developed by Reitz et al. 2018) and the marketing performance are based on the performance construct developed by Hooley et al., (2005). To complete the investigation, we conducted a survey in China from February 2019 to April 2019. Randomly contacted 150 Chinese SMEs, including SMEs of all sizes and types. To test our hypotheses, partial least squares (PLS) method was employed. Findings The findings indicate that customer orientation is antecedent to IT competence, while competitor orientation has no significant relationship with IT competence. This study provides a better understanding of the connection between IT competence and firm performance. So companies should focus on shaping customer-oriented culture and training IT competence.

Recently, the airline industry has grown tremendously, and competition among airlines has intensified. Therefore, the importance of airline's service quality has been greatly emphasized. The results of this study imply that the organizational commitment play significant mediating role between transformational leadership and customer orientation.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of customer orientation factors in relation to medical services on the values of the service and customer satisfaction and loyalty. Those factors include patient safety and, as found by previous studies, specialization, explanation of what to be medically examined and customer orientation itself. Based on these pervious studies, this study surveyed customers of 7 general hospitals located in Busan to empirically identify relations between customer orientation factors of medical services and the values of the services and customer satisfaction. Results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, this study is very meaningful in that it established a basic theory of patient safety as one of the above customer orientation factors, and tried to empirically demonstrated the theory by applying it to medical services. Second, another of the factors, specialization was found positively affecting the values of medical services, but not affecting customer satisfaction. Customers are likely to choose specialized medical institutions even at higher cost when they undergo an accident or disease. Nevertheless, in factors, whether medical service providers are specialized is not influencing customer satisfaction. This is because medical institutions are failing to properly make recognized their specialization to customers who want to receive specialized medical services. Third, another of customer orientation factors, that is, explanation of what to be medically examined was found not having positive effects on the values of medical services and customer satisfaction. This is probably because enough time was not given for the explanation or because the explanation itself was not provided enough. Fourth, medical service providers' customer orientation was found positively influencing the values of medical services and customer satisfaction. In other words, it seems that customer-centered attitudes and behaviors of medical service providers had positive effects on customers' perception of medical services. Fifth, another of the factors, that is, patient safety was found positively affecting the values of medical services and customer satisfaction. This is probably because medical services' accurate diagnoses and reliable services had positive effects on customers' perception of medical services. Sixth, customers' perceived values of medical services were found having positive effects on customer satisfaction and loyalty. This suggests that the values of medical services are an antecedent variable that directly influences customer satisfaction and loyalty. Seventh, customer satisfaction was found positively affecting customer loyalty. This suggests that customer satisfaction is an antecedent variable of customer loyalty. In conclusion, this study showed that in relation to medical services, customer orientation factors' significant influences on the values of the services and customer satisfaction requires continuous efforts for raising customers' perceived qualities of medical services.
This research has the goal of model presentation which explains the mediating role of the salespeople-related variables(customer orientation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment) and the customer-related variables(service quality, service value, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty) on the market orientation's effect on the performance. We collected survey data from 152 shop managers working in the department-store. In the result of final analysis, all 12 hypotheses are supported with statistically significance. The market orientation of firm increases the salespeople-related variables(customer orientation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment), and the salespeople-related variables increase the customer-related variables(service quality, service value, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty). Finally, customer loyalty increases the performance. This research has the contribution of explanation which shows the mediating role of the salespeople-related variables(customer orientation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment) and the customer-related variables(service quality, service value, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty) on the market orientation's effect on the performance. According to the result of this research, firms have to focus on the market orientation and understand the role of salespeople-related variables and customer-related variables on the process between the market orientation and the performance.

This study aimed to derive theoretical and practical implications by analyzing the relationship between adversity quotient, entrepreneurial orientation, and customer orientation, which are the internal competency of start-up entrepreneurs affecting the performance of a small business CEO. As in previous domestic studies, we deviated from analyzing internal competency as a single-dimensional functional relationship to business performance, and attempted to explain the relationship between the internal competences of start-up entrepreneurs. Empirical analysis was conducted by setting the adversity quotient as an independent variable, the entrepreneurial orientation as a parameter, and the customer orientation as a dependent variable. As a result of the analysis, first, it was found that control and ownership, which are sub-elements of adversity quotient, have a positive effect on entrepreneurial orientation and customer orientation. Second, entrepreneurial orientation was found to have a positive effect on customer orientation. Third, it was found that only the ownership of the adversity quotient had a positive effect on customer orientation through the mediating effect of entrepreneurial orientation. In other words, it was found that the entrepreneur's ownership influences customer orientation through entrepreneurial orientation. On the other hand, endurance, sub-element of adversity quotient, was found to have no significant effect on entrepreneurial orientation and customer orientation. This means that in the rapidly changing New Normal era, endurance of entrepreneur can no longer have a large impact on entrepreneurial orientation and customer orientation. This study gives implications for the entrepreneur's competencies that must be developed first and the tendency to be developed together. Furthermore, it can be helpful in policy designing start-up support programs and guidelines for investors' investment standards.
