  • Plasma-polymerized acrylic acid films were deposited on Si wafer and KBr pellet by remote plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). Effects of plasma power, reaction pressure, indirect plasma method on the growth rate, chemical structure, and chemical bonding state of the films were investigated. Chemical structure and chemical state of the films were characterized by Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis and curve fitting technique. Growth rate of the film increased to a saturation value with plasma power of 100 W, but showed the maximum with reaction pressure at 300 mtorr. Whenever W/FM factor (applied energy per gas molecule) increased by increasing plasma power or lowering pressure, the fragmentation of acrylic acid molecules was promoted. From the XPS curve fitting analyses, we found that the intensity of carboxyl COO bonding peak decreased with W/FM factor, and the tendency of intensity change of carboxylic COO peak was contrary to those of ether C-O and carbonyl C=O peaks.

  • In order to solve problems in automatic quality inspection of tablet capsules, computation-efficient image processing technique, appropriate threshold setting, edge detection and segmentation methods are required. And since existing automatic system for quality inspection of tablet capsules is of very high cost, it needs to be reduced through the realization of low-price hardware system. This study suggests a technique that uses low-cost camera module to obtain image and inspects dents on tablet capsules and sorting them by applying TLS curve fitting technique and edge-based image segmentation. In order to assess the performance, the major classifications algorithm of PCA, ICA and SVM are used to evaluate training time, test time and accuracy for capsule image area and curve fitting edge data sets.

  • A new analytical model which can discribe the relationship between the bridging stress and the crack opening displacement was proposed to investigate the microstructural effect on the R-curve behavior in a polycrystalline alumina. The crack opening displacement according to the distance behind the stationary crack tip was measured using in-situ fracture technique in an SEM, and then used for a fitting procedure to obtain the distribution of bridging stress. The current model and an empirical power law relation were introduced into the fitting procedure. The results indicated that the bridging stress function and R-curve computed by the current model were consistent with those computed by the power law relation. The microstructural factor, e.g., the distribution of grain size, was also found to be closely related to the bridging stress. Thus, this model explained well the interaction effect between the distribution of bridging stress and the local-fracture-controlling microstructure, providing important information for the systematic interpretation of microfracture mechanism including R-curve behavior of a monolithic alumina.

  • Many various products are manufactured which have sculptured surfaces recently. Constructing surface of these models is required technique called reverse engineering. In reverse engineering, a product which has sculptured surfaces is measured and we create surface model to acquire complete model data of object. Measured point data needs preprocess and sampling. Next a set of point data in a plane fit section curve. At last, surface is generated by fitting to section curves. Here we uses sweep surface. Sweep surface is compatible fitting CAD model to drawing. This paper discusses converting approximation of NURBS surface as a standard surface.

  • Small vibration displacements may be measured by optical interferometers, based on the Michelson method. The standard Michelson interferometer works well when the mirror displacements are relatively large compared to the optical wavelength. But it does not work for displacements less than approximately a quater of optical wavelength. Several multiple reflection laser interferometers, simply modified standard Michelson interferometer, have been developed to decrease the minimum detectable limits. Among these a relatively simple and easy multiple reflection system is used to measure the small vibration displacements. This multiple reflection system is constructed with a right angle prism and a convex lens. Therefore this system makes it possible to measure a vibration displacement of the small area on the vibrating structure. The fringe interpolation method and curve fitting method are used to determine accurately the small vibration displacements from the measured interference fringe patterns. Also computer simulation technique is used to check the accuracies of these method. According to the results of the computer simulation technique, the curve fitting method is more accurate than the fringe interpolation method. The optically measured results are in good agreement with those of the standard accelerometer with high accuracy and it is possible to measure the peak vibration displacement as small as 9.01nm using multiple reflection system and curve fitting method.

  • This paper presents a algorithm for automatic target recognition robust to the influence of the flame in order to track the target by EOTS(Electro-Optical Targeting System) equipped on UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) when there is aerial target or marine target with flame at the same time. The proposed method converts infrared images of targets and flames into a gradient vector field, and applies each gradient magnitude to a polynomial curve fitting technique to extract polynomial coefficients, and learns them in a shallow neural network model to automatically recognize targets and flames. The performance of the proposed technique was confirmed by utilizing the various infrared image database of the target and flame. Using this algorithm, it can be applied to areas where collision avoidance, forest fire detection, automatic detection and recognition of targets in the air and sea during automatic flight of unmanned aircraft.

  • A phasor estimation algorithm based on the least square curve fitting technique for the distorted secondary current due to current transformer (CT) saturation is proposed. The mathematical form of the secondary current during CT saturation is represented as the scaled primary current with magnetizing current. The information on the scaled primary current is estimated using the least square technique, with the measured secondary current in the saturated section. The proposed method can estimate the phasor of a fundamental frequency component during the saturated period. The performance of the algorithm is validated under various fault and CT conditions using a C400 CT model. A series of performance evaluations shows that the proposed phasor estimation algorithm can estimate the phasor of the fundamental frequency component with high accuracy, regardless of fault conditions and CT characteristics.

  • A practical method to design the input shaping which generates control command is proposed in this paper, We suggest an experimental technique considering human operator's target tracking error to improve aiming accuracy which significantly affects hit probability. It is known that stabilization performance is one of the most important factors for ground combat vehicle system. In particular, stabilization error of the manual target tracking system mounted on moving vehicle directly affects hit probability. To reduce this error, we applied input command shaping method using preprocessing filtering and functional curve fitting. First of all, we construct the human operator model to consider effects of human operator on our system. Input shaping curve is divided into several regions to get rid of the above problems and to improve the system performance. At example design part, we chose three steps of functional command curve and determine the parameters of the function by the proposed design method. In order to verify the proposed design method, we carried out the experiments with real plant of a fighting vehicle.

  • A noel automated brain region extraction method in single channel MR images for visualization and analysis of a human brain is presented. The method generates a volume of brain masks by automatic thresholding using a dual curve fitting technique and by 3D morphological operations. The dual curve fitting can reduce an error in clue fitting to the histogram of MR images. The 3D morphological operations, including erosion, labeling of connected-components, max-feature operation, and dilation, are applied to the cubic volume of masks reconstructed from the thresholded Drain masks. This method can automatically extract a brain region in any displayed type of sequences, including extreme slices, of SPGR, T1-, T2-, and PD-weighted MR image data sets which are not required to contain the entire brain. In the experiments, the algorithm was applied to 20 sets of MR images and showed over 0.97 of similarity index in comparison with manual drawing.
