  • Waveform design method for inkjet printing has been proposed tv pressure wave measurement. The pressure wane inside the inkjet dispenser can be effectively measured by current measurement due to self-sensing capability of PZT. The pressure wave measured from current was verified by commercially availablelaser vibrometer. In order to obtain high speed inkjet droplets, two pulse waveform was designed such that the pressure wane after droplet formation can be minimized.

  • Self-sensing measurement of piezo inkjet and its application are discussed. The pressure wave inside the inkjet dispenser was measured by current measurement due to self-sensing capability of PZT. The pressure wave measured from current was verified by commercially available laser vibrometer. Here, two applications using self-sensing signal were discussed: waveform design for high speed jetting and condition monitoring. For waveform design, two pulse waveform was designed based on self-sensing signal such that the pressure wave after droplet formation can be minimized. For condition monitoring, self-sensing signal was shown to be effective in detecting air bubble trapped in inkjet printhead.

  • Recently the performance of CO2 arc welding machine has been advanced significantly through the adoption of inverter circuit topology which made it possible to control the waveform of welding current and thus to suppress the spatter generation. However, the optimum waveform is still uncertain. As a first step for figuring out the promising waveforms, this study was performed to set-up the experimental system for studying the effect of waveform variables. The overal system is controlled digital controller using single chip microprocessor of 80C196KC. As a result of performance test of this system, it was demonstrated all of the waveform variables could be set individually and the generated spatter is reduced compare to conventional inverter arc welding machine.

  • The effects of various sustain waveforms on the discharge characteristics, such as discharge current waveform, IR waveform, luminance, luminous efficiency, power consumption, and static margin are investigated under high Xe (20%) gas mixture at 200 kHz. The four types of sustain waveforms, such as non-overlapped sustain waveform without auxiliary pulse, non-overlapped sustain waveform with auxiliary pulse, overlapped sustain waveform without auxiliary pulse, overlapped sustain waveform with auxiliary pulse, are examined intensively. As a result, the overlapped sustain waveform with auxiliary pulse shows the best discharge characteristics under high Xe (20%) gas mixture at 200 kHz.

  • The neutral section was installed in order to prevent conflict with different phase angle source in electric railway catenary system. The speed of electric train reduced due to coasting operation by notch off when it passed the neutral section. And, the catenary wire was damaged and the accident might be happened because of the arc generation when the electric train passed the neutral section with notch off condition. The inrush current of main transformer installed tiling train is analyzed during the operation of MCB(main circuit break) passing through the neutral section. The instantaneous waveform of load current were analyzed in case of powering and regenerative braking. Inrush current waveform with run of AC railway train showed that inrush current waveform and harmonics, the inrush current generated from main transformer in train has bad effects on power quality problem. In order to reduce these inrush currents, the MCB is connected when the phase angle of voltage is 90 degree. This paper is to measure inrush current and harmonics in main transformer of high speed train in neutral section of electric railway. This measurement report is used to control minimum inrush current in algorithm and power phase angle.

  • In the current source inverters (CSI), which are widely used recently in many applications, in order to reduce the harmonic contents in the output line current, twelve-step waveform is synthesized usually by a phase-shifted addition of the output currents of two single CSI's. In this paper a new method of synthesis of the 12-step current waveform is suggested which employes a main and a new auxiliary inverters having lower capacity, and thus is economically advantageous over the conventional scheme. DC-side commutation and energy rebond circuit as described in Part I are also employed in this proposed twelve-step CIS for effective commutation and high reliability. Experimental results are also given in oscillgrams.

  • The discharge characteristics of a ramp reset waveform in the alternating current plasma display panel(ac PDP) were studied using a 2-dimensional numerical simulation. We analyzed the wall charge variation during the reset discharge, address discharge and sustain discharge adopting a ramp reset waveform. Then we investigated the principal parameters for a successful discharge. In this paper, we suggest a new parameter, printing particles' density and its effects on the stability of the ramp discharge. The maximum current flows of the three electrodes during the ramp reset period were decreased with the increase in the priming particles's density which was explained with the wall charge characteristics and the current flow characteristics obtained by a 2-D simulation.

  • This paper presents a switched self-biasing and a tail current-shaping technique to suppress the 1/f noise from a tail current source in differential cross-coupled inductance-capacitance (LC) voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs). The proposed LC VCO has an amplitude control characteristic due to the creation of negative feedback for the oscillation waveform amplitude. It is fabricated using a 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process. The measured phase noise is -117 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset from a 4.85 GHz carrier frequency, while it draws 6.5 mA from a 0.6 V supply voltage. For frequency tuning, process variation, and temperature change, the amplitude change rate of the oscillation waveform in the proposed VCO is 2.1 to 3.2 times smaller than that of an existing VCO with a fixed bias. The measured amplitude change rate of the oscillation waveform for frequency tuning from 4.55 GHz to 5.04 GHz is 131 pV/Hz.

  • The voltage controlled ramp(VCR) waveform has recently been introduced in the reset period prior to addressing for plasma display. However, this method results in the oscillation of the gap voltage when the ramp rate is increased so as to reduce reset period. In this paper a current controlled ramp(CCR) waveform method in the reset period is suggested. This method can suppress the oscillation of gap voltage under the condition of shorter ramp time. Moreover, the reset time can be reduced by about 30 % compared with the VCR method under the same background luminance.
