  • In this study, we describe the design method of a Brush-less DC (BLDC) motor with delta winding connection. After designing delta winding connection model with the $60^{\circ}$ flat-top region of the Back Electro-Motive Force (BEMF), an ideal current source analysis and a voltage source analysis, with a 6-step control, were conducted primarily employing Finite Element Method. In addition, as a current controller, we considered the Current Regulator with PI controller using Simulink for the comparison of torque characteristics. When the input current is controlled, the switching regions and reference signals are determined by means of the phase BEMF zero-crossing point. In reality, the input current variation depends on the inductance as well as input voltage, and it causes a torque ripple after all. Therefore, each control method considered in this research showed different torque ripple results. Based on the comparison, the causes of the torque ripple have been verified in detail.

  • This paper presents a prototype of three-phase current source zero voltage soft-switching PWM controlled PFC rectifier with Single Active Auxiliary Resonant Commutated Snubber (ARCS) circuit topology. The proposed three-phase PFC rectifier with sinewave current shaping and unity power factor scheme can operate under a condition of Zero Voltage Soft Switching (ZVS) in the main three phase rectifier circuit and zero current soft switching (ZCS) in auxiliary snubber circuits. The operating principle and steady-state performances of the proposed three-phase current source soft-switching PWM controlled PFC rectifier controlled by the DSP control implementation are evaluated and discussed on the basis of the experimental results of this active rectifier setup.

  • In this paper, a high-performance current control for the single-phase PWM converter under distorted source voltages is proposed using a composite observer. By applying the composite observer, the fundamental and high-order harmonic components of the source voltage and current are extracted without a delay. The extracted fundamental component is used for a phase-lock loop (PLL) system to detect the phase angle of the source voltage. A multi-PR (proportional-resonant) controller is employed to regulate the single-phase line current. The high-order harmonic components of the line current are easily eliminated, resulting in the sinusoidal line current. The simulation and experimental results have verified the validity of the proposed method.

  • Cost effective and high efficiency energy recovery circuit (ERC) using an address voltage source is proposed. Different from prior ERC, the proposed circuit uses a voltage source to charge a panel and a current source to discharge the panel. As a result, it can be achieved zero voltage switching (ZVS) of switches in H-bridge inverter and zero current switching (ZCS) of switches of the ERC. Moreover, the proposed ERC can obtain high efficiency, high performance and the decrease of the cost and the size.

  • In this paper, a current control system for single phase PWM AC/DC converter without the source voltage sensors is proposed. The sinusoidal input current and unity effective power factor are realised based on the estimated source voltage in the controller. The estimation of source voltage is performed by the reduced-order Luenberger observer using actual currents. The estimated source voltage is used to accomplish unity power factor. The proposed method is proved by experiments.

  • In this study, we present the modern hybrid system based power generation for electric vehicle applications. We describe the hybrid structure of modified current source based DC - DC converters used to extract the maximum power from Photovoltaic (PV) and Fuel Cell system. Due to reduced dc-link capacitor requirement and higher reliability, the current source inverters (CSI) better compared to the voltage source based inverter. The novel control strategy includes Distributed Maximum Power Point Tracking (DMPPT) for photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell power generation system. The proposed DC - DC converters have been analyzed in both buck and boost mode of operation under duty cycle 0.5>d, 0.5<d<1 and 0.5<d for capable electric vehicle applications. The proposed topology benefits include one common DC-AC inverter that interposes the generated power to supply the charge for the sharing of load in a system of hybrid supply with photovoltaic panels and fuel cell PEM. An improved control of Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) based induction motor fed by current source converters for electric vehicle. In order to achieve better performance in terms of speed, power and miles per gallon for the expert, to accepting high regenerative braking current as well as persistent high dynamics driving performance is required. A simulation model for the hybrid power generation system based electric vehicle has been developed by using MATLAB/Simulink. The Direct Torque and Flux Control (DTFC) is planned using Xilinx ISE software tool in addition to a Modelsim 6.3 software tool that is used for simulation purposes. The FPGA based pulse generation is used to control the induction motor for electric vehicle applications. FPGA has been implemented, in order to verify the minimal error between the simulation results of MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.

  • In this study, we fabricated the $K^+$ ion source for the various purposes and investigated the emission characteristics. The fabricated $K^+$ ion source was painted in the tungsten filament to make filament type ion source. The RGA spectra show that the filament type $K^+$ ion source has a good out gassing character, so it can be used in the ultra-high vacuum system. The maximum $K^+$ ion current was 20 mA when filament temperature was 1410 K and filament potential was 50 V. When the filament temperature was 1070 K, the initial beam current was 50 mA and decreased only by 2% during 4 hours. The emitting energy was measured to be 2.04 eV. This low value means that the fabricated specimen is a good $K^+$ ion source. We conclude that this filament type ion source can be used in various fields, including the LEIS research.

  • Current delivery system, in which the analog current produced by a unique DAC circuit is stored into a current-memory circuit and delivered in a time-divided sequence, shows variation of output current as low as 4% in a current source data-driver IC for AM-OLED driven by a current-programmed method without any fuse repairing after fabrication. This driver IC has 54 outputs and can sink constant current as low as 3 ${\mu}A$ with 6-bit analog levels. Such a low current level without variation can hardly be obtained by an ordinary MOS transistor because the current level is in the sub-threshold region and changes exponentially with threshold voltage variation. Thus we adopted a current mirror circuit composed of bipolar transistors to supply well-controlled current within a nano-ampere range.
