  • This paper presents a second-generation CMOS current conveyor (CCII) consisting of a rail-to-rail complementary N- and P-channel differential input stage for the voltage input, a class AB push-pull stage for the current input, and current mirrors far the current outputs. The CCII was implemented using a double-poly triple-metal 0.6 ${\mu}$m n-well CMOS process, to confirm its operation experimentally. A prototype chip achieves a rail-to-rail swing ${\pm}$2.4 V under ${\pm}$2.5 V power supplies and shows the exact voltage and current following performances up to 100 MHz. Because of its high performances, the CCII proposed herein is quite useful for a building block of current-mode circuits. The applications of the proposed CCII to current-mode filters are also described.

  • We propose a algorithm to calculate power factor of fundamental waveform in an environment where the voltage and current have been distorted by harmonics. In the proposed power factor computation algorithm, voltage and current are converted to rotating DQ reference frame, and power factor is calculated from active power and reactive power. We compare the proposed method with the conventional power factor measurement method as mathematically. In a condition that voltage and current are distorted by harmonics, the proposed method accurately measure the power factor of fundamental wave, and it is confirmed by simulation using MATLAB. If the proposed power factor measurement method is applied to an automatic power factor control system, a power factor compensation performance can be maximized in harmonic distortion environment. As a result, it is possible to reduce electricity prices, reduce line loss, increase load capacity, ensure the transmission margin capacity, and reduce the amount of power generation.

  • The discrete torque generation mechanism and inherently nonlinear magnetic characterization of switched reluctance motors lead to unacceptable torque ripples and limit the application of these motors. In this study, a phase current profiling technique and torque sharing function are proposed in consideration of magnetic saturation effects and by minimizing power loss in the commutation area between the adjacent phases. Constant torque trajectories are considered in incoming and outgoing phase current planes based on nonlinear T-i-theta curves obtained from experimental measurements. Optimum points on constant torque trajectories are selected by improving drive efficiency and minimizing copper loss in each rotor position. A novel analytic invertible function is introduced to express phase torque based on rotor position and its corresponding phase current. The optimization problem is solved by the proposed torque function, and optimum torque sharing functions are derived. A modification method is also introduced to enhance the torque ripple-free region based on simple logic rules. Compared with conventional torque sharing functions, the resultant reference current from the proposed method has less peak and effective values and exhibits lower copper loss. Experimental and simulation results from a four-phase 4 KW 8/6 SRM validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This study proposes a finite-state model predictive controller to regulate the load current and balance the DC-link capacitor voltages of a four-leg neutral-point-clamped converter. The discrete-time model of the converter, DC-link, inductive filter, and load is used to predict the future behavior of the load currents and the DC-link capacitor voltages for all possible switching states. The switching state that minimizes the cost function is selected and directly applied to the converter. The cost function is defined to minimize the error between the predicted load currents and their references, as well as to balance the DC-link capacitor voltages. Moreover, the current regulation performance is improved by using a two-step prediction horizon. The feasibility of the proposed predictive control scheme for different references and loads is verified through real-time implementation on the basis of dSPACEDS1103.

  • This paper proposes a simple MPPT control scheme of a Current-Control-Loop Error system Based that can be obtains a lot of advantage to compare with another digital control method, P&O and IncCond algorithm, that is applied mostly a PV system. An existent method is needed an expensive processor such as DSP that calculated to change the measure power of a using current and voltage sensor at the once. Therefore, it is applied a small home power generation system that required many expenses. But, a proposed method is easy to solve the cost reduction and power unbalance problems that it is used by control scheme to limit error of a current control of common sensor. This proposed algorithm had verified through a simulation and an experiment on battery charger using PIC that is the microprocessor of a low price.

  • A new control algorithm of soft starter is proposed for the reduction of the inrush current during the grid connection of the induction-type wind power generator. Currently, the fixed speed wind turbine using induction generator is the most popular wind generation system in Korea. It is shown that the amount of inrush current mainly depends on the control algorithm of the soft starter, a thyristor-based grid connection device. For the simulation study, a 600kw wind turbine simulation model is developed and the transient waveforms are investigated with conventional md proposed methods. Also experimental results using 3.7kW experimental set-up show that the peak value of inrush current is reduced about 20$\%$ using proposed algorithm.

  • Since the residential load is an AC load and the output of solar cell is a DC power, the photovoltaic system needs the DC/AC converter to utilize solar cell. In case of driving to interact with utility line, in order to operate at unity power factor, converter must provide the sinusoidal wave current and voltage with same phase of utility line. Since output of solar cell is greatly fluctuated by insolation, it is necessary that the operation of solar cell output in the range of the vicinity of maximum power point. In this paper, DC/AC converter is three phase PWM converter with smoothing reactor. And then, feedforward control used to obtain a superior characteristic for current control and digital PLL circuit used to detect the phase of utility line.

  • Three-phase Matrix Converter has become an effective substitution for the conventional converter module due to generation of the feasible variety of frequency and amplitude output voltage without energy storage elements besides the advantage of unity input power factor at the power supply and the regeneration capability. This paper introduces two kinds of current controllers for the matrix converter fed induction motor. Some simulated results are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the two-proposed methods as compared with the classical method using voltage source inverter.
