  • This paper presents a new simulation-based analog cell synthesis approach with improved simulation efficiency For the hierarchical synthesis of analog cells we developed the sub-circuit optimizers such as current mirror and differential input stage. Each sub-circuit optimizer can be used for synthesis of analog cells such as OTA(operational transconductance amplifier), 2-stage OP-AMP and comparator. To reduce the time spending of the simulation-based synthesis we propose 2-stage searching scheme and simulation data reusing scheme. With those schemes the synthesis time spending of OTA was reduced from 301.05sec to 56.52sec by 81.12%. Since our synthesis system doesn't need other additional physical parameters except SPICE parameters, and is independent of the process and its model level, the time spending to port to other process is minimized. We synthesized OTA and 2-stage OP-AMP respectively with our approach to show its usefulness.

  • This paper proposes a low phase noise ring voltage controlled oscillator(VCO) with a standard $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process for PLL circuit using the VCO-gain-controlled Delay cell. The proposed Delay cell architecture with a active resistor using a MOS transistor. This method can reduced a VCO gain so that improve phase noise. And, Delay cell consist of Wide-Swing Cascode current mirror, Positive Latch and Symmetric load for low phase noise. The measurement results demonstrate that the phase noise is -119dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset from 1.9GHz. The VCO gain and power dissipation are 440MHz/V and 9mW, respectively.

  • Chaos characteristics of laser diodes with external optical feedback is investigated. For a FabryPerot resonator laser, optical feedback by external mirror is assumed. The simulation is performed in such a way that a current of $1.3J_{th}$ is injected into the $1.3{\mu}m$wavelength "InGaAsP" buried hetero structure laser. With the increment of K, the system shows the evolution of four steps as follows: i) When the optical feedback coefficient K is very small, the relaxation oscillation is damped and the system reaches the steady state showing the stable operation characteristics. ii) As K increases a little bit, the relaxation oscillation is not damped any more and the system begins to maintain the periodic oscillation. iii) When K is increased further, the oscillation shows the larger amplitude and the long periodic length. iv) When K is increased very large, the system gets unstable and enters into the coherejlce collapse state. state.

  • Memristor devices are one of the most promising candidate approaches to next-generation memory technologies. Memristive switching phenomena usually rely on repeated electrical resistive switching between non-volatile resistance states in an active material under the application of an electrical stimulus, such as a voltage or current. Recent reports have explored the use of variety of external operating parameters, such as the modulation of an applied magnetic field, temperature, or illumination conditions to activate changes in the memristive switching behaviors. Among these possible choices of signal controlling factors of memristor, photon is particularly attractive because photonic signals are not only easier to reach directly over long distances than electrical signal, but they also efficiently manage the interactions between logic devices without any signal interference. Furthermore, due to the inherent wave characteristics of photons, the facile manipulation of the light ray enables incident light angle controlled memristive switching. So that, in the tautological sense, device orienting position with regard to a photon source determines the occurrence of memristive switching as well. To demonstrate this position controlled memory device functionality, we have fabricated a metal-semiconductor-metal memristive switching nanodevice using ZnO nanorods. Superhydrophobicity employed in this memristor gives rise to illumination direction selectivity as an extra controlling parameter which is important feature in emerging. When light irradiates from a point source in water to the surface treated device, refraction of light ray takes place at the water/air interface because of the optical density differences in two media (water/air). When incident light travels through a higher refractive index medium (water; n=1.33) to lower one (air; n=1), a total reflection occurs for incidence angles over the critical value. Thus, when we watch the submerged NW arrays at the view angles over the critical angle, a mirror-like surface is observed due to the presence of air pocket layer. From this processes, the reversible switching characteristics were verified by modulating the light incident angle between the resistor and memristor.

  • Background: Cooking temperature and consequently doneness of beef muscles are most important for the palatability and consumer acceptability. Current study assessed the response of mechanical texture of Hanwoo muscles as a function of cooking temperature at different ageing days. Six muscles (Psoas major (PM), Longissimus thoracics (LT), Gluteus medius (GM), Semimembranosus (SM), Biceps femoris (BF) and Triceps brachii (TB)) were collected from each 10 Hanwoo steers. Warner-Bratzler WB-shear force (WBSF) and texture profile analysis (TPA) texture profiles were determined after 3 or 21 days of chiller, and randomly assigned to four groups; non-cooked, cooked at 55, 70 or $85^{\circ}C$. Results: Toughness of WBSF and TPA hardness of Hanwoo muscles were presence in the order of LT = PM = GM = SM < BF = TB (p < 0.001) for non-cooked raw muscle, and PM < LT = GM = SM < TB=BF (p < 0.001) for cooked meat aged for 3 days. WBSF linearly increased in 3 days aged meats after cooked at a higher temperature (P < 0.05). On the other hand, toughening of the muscles were significantly (P < 0.05) differed at various temperature when muscles were aged for 21 days. WBSF of PM and LT muscles were significantly increased at a higher cooking temperature, while other muscles (i.e., GM, SM, BF, TB) showed the lowest values at $70^{\circ}C$. In the case of TPA hardness, the effect of cooking temperature was very less in the toughness of the muscle (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Taken together, these findings clearly showed that the toughness of the muscle highly depends and varies upon the temperature and ageing of the muscle. Moreover, the effect of cooking temperature was very limited on aged muscles. The results mirror the importance of cooking temperature for objective measurements which ultimately estimate sensory tenderness and other quality traits.

  • To investigate the usefulness of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for imaging lymphedema, we directly compared it to other histological methods in a mouse model of lymphedema. We performed detailed imaging of the lymphedema lesion on a mouse tail. We imaged the mouse tail in vivo with OCT and created histopathological samples. We constructed a spectrometer-based OCT system using a fiber-optic Michelson interferometer. The light was directed to 50:50 couplers that split the light into reference and sample arms. Backscattered light from a reference mirror and the sample produced an interference fringe. An OCT image of the lymphedema model revealed an inflammatory reaction of the skin that was accompanied by edema, leading to an increase in the light attenuation in the dermal and subcutaneous layers. Similar to OCT image findings, histological biopsy showed an inflammatory response that involved edema, increased neutrophils in epidermis and subdermis, and lymphatic microvascular dilatation. Furthermore, the lymphedema model showed an increase in thickness of the dermis in both diagnostic studies. In the mouse tail model of lymphedema, OCT imaging showed very similar results to other histological examinations. OCT provides a quick and useful diagnostic imaging technique for lymphedema and is a valuable addition or complement to other noninvasive imaging tools.

  • This paper analyzes the relationship of international exchange of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) at the time of Myung and Chung Dynasty, which is one of the most famous regional traditional medicine. The internal reason for the active exchange of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) throughout the ocean was that its major theories were mostly based on Confucianism, which was also the major current in Korea and Japan at the time. This leaded to active interchange between Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) of China and Japan and Korea. Secondly, the proliferation of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) was achieved with great help from developing printing operations at the time. Also, the active operation of practitioners of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) such as the attempt to advance to foreign countries along with the 徽州商人 offered an opportunity to introduce Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學). The international traits of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) can be easily proved by numerous quotes of its classics in many significant classics of Korea and Japan. The influence of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) to Korea started from the Chosun Dynasty; the Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine "東醫寶鑑" of Huh Jun and "麻科會通" of 丁若鏞 are the few examples of classics of Korea with quotes of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學). The influence of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) on Japanese medicine can be found much before, since Nanbeichao Dynasty. However, the time when many books were imported was during Myung and Chung Dynasty. Also, some of the classics of Medical School of Sin-an (新安醫學) mentioned in "醫籍考" remain only in Japan and not in China; this shows the active exchange between the two countries.

  • Composite column design is strongly influenced by the computation of the critical buckling load, which is very sensitive to the effective flexural stiffness (EI) of the column. Because of this, the behaviour of a composite column under lateral loading and its response to deflection is largely determined by the EI of the member. Thus, prediction models used for composite member design should accurately mirror this behaviour. However, EI varies due to several design parameters, and the implementation of high-strength materials, which are not considered by the current composite design codes of practice. The reliability of the design methods from six codes of practice (i.e., AS 5100, AS/NZS 2327, Eurocode 4, AISC 2010, ACI 318, and AIJ) for composite columns is studied in this paper. Also, the reliability of these codes of practice against a serviceability limit state criterion are estimated based on the combined use of the test-based statistical procedure proposed by Johnson and Huang (1997) and Monte Carlo simulations. The composite columns database includes 100 tests of circular concrete-filled tubes, rectangular concrete-filled tubes, and concrete-encased steel composite columns. A summary of the reliability analysis procedure and the evaluated reliability indices are provided. The reasons for the reliability analysis results are discussed to provide useful insight and supporting information for a possible revision of available codes of practice.

  • The cost of material and slicing of silicon wafer occupied more than 30% of solar cell manufacturing cost. The substitution of silicon wafer into STS 304 stainless steel could be the promising solution to decrease the material cost. Moreover the stainless steel solar cell could have the advantage of low weight and durability. However, the highly polished surface is required to meet the characteristic of solar cell. The electropolishing process in phosphoric acid based solution was used to get the surface quality. The obtained result was 28 nm obtained in current density of 2Amfi/$cm^2$ at $80^{\circ}C$. The leveller effect of glycerine, ethylene glycol and propylen glycol was studied. When the 0.4 g/l of ethylene glycol was added to the electrolyte, the surface roughness was best, 15 nm.

  • In this paper, we designed a thermal shutdown block for LED applications using a 1 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process. The proposed thermal shutdown protection circuit has been designed with a shut-off temperature of $120^{\circ}C$ and a restart temperature of $90^{\circ}C$ which are suitable conditions for LED driver IC. Also, we got SPICE simulation results of the circuit about process variation of the semiconductor fabrication. From simulation data, process variation rate of the proposed circuit are within 7 % which are good results compared with conventional BJT current mirror type circuit. Finally, we confirmed that the thermal shutdown circuit has good thermal protection function within a LED driver IC.
