The Effects of the Curing Methods on the Stalk Curing Period in Burley Tobacco (버어리종 건조방법이 대말림기간에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to control the stalk curing period in Burley Tobacco, for its period was longer than 40 days. The 5 methods were treated to shorten the stalk curing period. The curing period was shortened for 1~3 days by the harvesting methods and the amount of predehydration, but it was shortened for 8 days by the hanging methods(sloping and horizontal curing)and the hanging density(90 plants/3.3m2) without the decrease of quality. In the ventilating condition of the curing house, the curing period could be controlled for 5 dyes with the quality like the conventional cured leaves by closing the curing house from the late curing stage. But when the curing house was not ventilated earlier, however the curing period was shortened but its quality was decreased.

  • This research investigates the drying shrinkage of non-sintering cement(NSC) matrix added phosphogypsum(PG) and waste lime(WL) to granulated blast furnace slag(GBFS) as sulfate and alkali activators with various curing condition. The experimental results are follow: When the moisture is fully supplied at the early curing age, there is effect which carries out abundant generation of the ettringite which is an expansion nature mineral, and compensates for contraction with a chemical prestress concept.

  • Recently, by-products from concrete industry are generated in large quantities because of urban redevelopment. Accordingly, waste concrete powder(WCP) inevitably generated in the course of crushing, screening, and separating the waste concrete also show high emission and be increasing gradually, but which is mostly buried with waste concrete aggregate. This is a basic research to increase the value added utilization rate of WCP. We have examined strength characteristic of extruding panel with WCP, depending on the curing methods. The result of study shows similar strength to the base specimen in autoclave curing condition. And in autoclave curing condition, the specimen with WCP of 20% and 30% satisfy the target strength of 14MPa.

Effect of curing condition on mechanical properties of scarf-repaired composite laminates

  • Composite structures are generally pressurized at both sides when repaired by the scarf repair method. But single-face vacuum bag curing (SVC) may be used in some practical scarf repair of penetration damage due to the low accessibility of composite structures, which can decrease bonding quality and may reduce structural mechanical properties. In this paper, experimental investigations were conducted on tensile and compressive properties of scarf-repaired composite laminates using SVC and double-face vacuum bag curing (DVC) in four hygrothermal environments. Finite element models of composite scarf joints with voids were established to further explore the failure mechanism of scarf-repaired laminates. Results show that the curing condition hardly affects tensile and compressive properties of the repaired laminates though it significantly affects the bonding quality with adhesive inner voids. Failure loads of scarf joints almost keep unchanged with adhesive voids increasing.

  • In cold weather, the speed of concrete strength development is slow. As a result, construction speed becomes slow and it is problem for all construction site to solve this. So in this study, to shorten removing frame time after placing concrete, mix proportion using early-strength-binder(ESB) and curing method such as using heat line in concrete was considered. At first, concrete mix proportion was examined at -5℃ temperature between ordinary portland cement(OPC) and ESB. And second step, concrete, using mix proportion with OPC, was examined according to curing method(: 1) heat line used and 2) no heat line) and kinds of form (: 1) Deck slab, 2) Half PC slab and 3) SOG slab). All cases are same condition: slab thickness is 1,500mm, double-bubble sheet is used as a curing sheet after placing concrete. After the test, OPC is enough to get strength compared to ESB in special condition and 48~60 hours is needed according to form condition.

Mechanical Properties and Autogenous Shrinkage of Ultra High Performance Concrete Using Expansive Admixture and Shrinkage Reducing Agent depending on Curing Conditions (팽창재 및 수축저감제를 사용한 초고성능 콘크리트의 양생조건별 역학 및 자기수축 특성)

  • This paper examines the mechanical and autogenous shrinkage characteristics per curing condition of Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) according to the change in the quantities of expansive admixture and shrinkage-reducing agent. In view of the mechanical properties according to the curing condition, all the UHPC specimens that experienced steam curing at $90^{\circ}C$ developed compressive strength higher than 190 MPa, and the specimens that experienced water curing at $20^{\circ}C$ developed compressive strength comparable to that developed at 91 days by the steam-cured specimens. The specimens steam-cured at $90^{\circ}C$ showed high tensile strength of 23.4 MPa whereas slight loss of the tensile strength was observed in those water-cured at 20. Besides, in view of the autogenous shrinkage according to the curing condition, no particular change could be found in the final shrinkage. The compressive strength developed by UHPC according to the use of expansive and shrinkage-reducing agents reached values higher than 190 MPa in case of steam curing at $90^{\circ}C$. Shrinkage reduced by about 45% when using both expansive and shrinkage-reducing agents without difference according to the curing condition.

  • To estimate the effects of lime and cement on the surplus soil, the engineering properties of the marine deposited clay and the fresh water clay were analyzed. The specimen were prepared under several curing conditions, namely, underwater curing, wet condition curing and underwater curing after heating. Unconfined compression strength were estimated after 7, 14, 28 and 60 days, respectively. The strength were steeply increased with time until first 14 days. Specially the increase of the strength of the heated soil were large.

  • In this paper, it was described results of study on curing safety of molding meterial, about the variation of phenol resin contents, wood flour contents and moisture of wood flour, under the same condition. The experimental results are summarized as follows ; 1) When the curing temperature was high, the curing time was short in the case of 4~8wt% moisture of wood flour, but in the case of more than l2wt% moisture of wood flour, the curing time was long. 2) The curing time for curing temperature was more short when 6wt% moisture of wood flour than 4wt% moisture of wood flour. 3) The more wood flour content and moisture of wood flour content, the longer curing time and the more mineral filler content, the shorter curing time. 4) When the phenol resin content of main matrix increase, the curing time was short.

The Influence of Curing Conditions on the Composition of Essential Oil of Burley Tobacco Leaves (버어리종 잎담배의 건조조건이 정유성분 조성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to investigate the influence of curing conditions on the composition of essential oil during curing process of burley tobacco leaves. The curing conditions were the primed curing in vinyl house (house-curing), air-curing barn (air-curing) and stalk-curing in conventional curing house (stalk-curing). Total 90 compounds are identified from the steam volatile oils of harvest and cured tobacco leaves by GC and GC-MS, respectively. The major components were neophytadiene, hexadecanoic acid, 3,8,13-duvatriene-1,5-diols, oxide-9-methylene-3,13-duvadienols, solanone, megastigma-4,6,8-trien-3-ones, phenylacetaldehyde, $\beta$-phenylethyl alcohol, indole, dihydroactinidiolide and phytol. The amount of alcoholic compounds was decreased more than approximately 50% in cured leaves without regard to the curing conditions. $\beta$-Phenylethyl alcohol and 3,8,13-duvatriene-1,5-diols were decreased more in air curing and stalk curing than in house curing. The amounts of phenylacetaldehyde, solanone, $\beta$-damascone, $\beta$ -damascenone, oxysolanone and megastigma-4,6,8-trien-3-ones as ketonic compounds, dihydroactinidiolide and indole as miscellaneous compounds in air-cured and stalk-cured tobacco leaves were 2 times higher than those in house-cured leaves, while esteric and acidic compounds were not changed largely in content by curing conditions.

Field Application to Evaluate the Effect of Various Surface Covered Curing Blankets on Temperature Profile and Crack Occurrence of the Concrete under Hot Weather Condition (서중환경에서 표면피복 양생재 종류변화가 콘크리트의 초기 온도이력 및 균열발생에 미치는 영향에 관한 현장적용성 평가)

  • Concrete placed under hot weather condition suffers from larger slump loss, rapid moisture evaporation due to high air temperature. Proper measures for material, transportation and curing should be taken to prevent the quality deterioration of the concrete under hot weather condition. In Korea, Although the period of hot weather concrete in Korea occupies only 2 months, there are a lot of quality problems including plastic, drying shrinkage and cold joint. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate and compare the temperature history and crack occurrence of the concrete, which was placed in the actual apartment house construction field under hot weather condition, in response to the application of surface covered curing blankets including PE film, single layer clear bubble sheet, white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet. Test results indicated that the application of white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet showed most favorable results in terms of reduction in temperature rise and crack occurrence as well as easiness in handling. But, due to light reflection by aluminum metalized bubble sheet, it is believed that white colored bubble sheet is preferable.
