  • To evaluate the efficiency of anther floating culture according to the maturing group, the varietal difference and classification of fifty varieties was conducted in N6 liquid medium containing 1mg $l^{-1}$ NAA, 0.25 mg $l^{-1}$ kinetin. The efficiency of callus induction was widely ranged from 0 to 113.4%, but the mean callus induction was not significantly different among maturing groups. The efficiency of anther floating culture showed the highest variation in early-maturing group among three maturing groups. The varieties with the best callus induction were Sambaegbyeo and Jinbuolbyeo, while the recalcitrant variety was Obongbyeo in early-maturing group. The efficiency of plant regeneration showed the highest trends in late-maturing group among three maturing groups. The fifty varieties were classified into three groups (distance=0.78) by cluster analysis based on the callus formation and plant regeneration. Group including only two varieties, Shinunbongbyeo and Sambaegbyeo had the excellent androgenic efficiency, and the medium efficiency of Group was included thirty-six varieties. Whereas twelve varieties, including three Tongil varieties were fell into the bad efficiency of Group. Especially, Tongil varieties containing Japonica rice, Obongbyeo were the recalcitrant genotypes for the anther floating culture.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the Western perspective on the food and food culture of Modern Times in Korea (from the late of Joseon Dynasty until Japanese colonial era). Literature and written records were analyzed. This analysis revealed that the heart of the mill in this period involved rice, and that a common beverage was sungnyung made from boiled scorched rice (in contrast to tea as the common beverage in Japan or China). The most important subsidiary food in Joseon was vegetables, especially Kimchi. Westerners viewed Kimchi as a smell symbolizing Joseon and their meal times. Even though both Kimchi and cheese are fermented food, just like Westerners could not stand the smell of Kimchi, Koreans viewed the smell of cheese unpleasant. Westerners viewed German sauerkraut as Western food counterpart to Kimchi, as sauerkraut is also fermented food made of cabbage. Regarding the eating of dog meat in Joseon, most Westerners viewed it as brutal; however some interpreted it as a difference in food culture. In addition, the eating of raw fish and its intestines felt crude to Westerners. The biggest difference between Joseon's food and Western food was that Joseon had no dairy products and no sugar. The most highly preferred fruit for Westerners was the persimmon, and ginseng was already widely recognized and recorded as a medicinal plant. Joseon's desserts were also favorably evaluated. In contrast, the excessive gluttony, heavy drinking, and unsanitary conditions in Joseon were problems pointed out in many records.

Effect of Acetic Acid Concentration and Mixed Culture of Lactic Acid Bacteria on Producing Bacterial Cellulose Using Gluconacetobacter sp. gel_SEA623-2 (Gluconacetobacter sp. gel_SEA623-2를 이용한 Bacterial Cellulose 생산에 초산농도 및 유산균 혼합배양이 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, Gluconacetobacter sp. gel_SEA623-2 isolated from citrus that produces bacterial cellulose was used to examine the effect of initial concentration of acetic acid and mixed culture inoculated with Lactobacillus plantarum KCCM 80077 on productivity of bacterial cellulose. In mixed culture added with 0.5% acetic acid, the viable cell count increased from $2.4{\times}10^6CFU/ml$ to $1.1{\times}10^7CFU/ml$ after 14 days of culture, and total acidity was about 0.3% higher than single culture added with 0.5% acetic acid, which implies that additional lactic acid was produced by L. plantarum KCCM 80077. In single culture, although bacterial cellulose productivity was higher when the initial concentrations of acetic acid were 0.0% and 0.5%, than when it was 1.0%, there was no significant difference. However, in mixed culture, adding 0.5% acetic acid resulted in dry weight of $37.83{\pm}6.81g/L$ and thickness of $10.33{\pm}0.58mm$, showing a significant difference from that of single culture added with 1% acetic acid, $28.40{\pm}1.23g/L$ and $7.50{\pm}0.50mm$ (P<0.05).

In other words. the hospitals with innovative-dominant culture showed higher organizational commitment and job satisfaction than ones with conservative-dominant culture and competitive culture. And also. the growth rate of outpatients and inpatients were significantly different among the cultural patterns(p<.05). The hospitals with innovative -dominant culture showed higher growth rate of outpatients and inpatients than ones with conservative-dominant culture and competitive culture. 5. The hospitals with conservative-dominant culture and competitive culture showed higher level of centralization than ones with innovative -dominant culture(p=.00) And the hospitals with competitive and innovative-dominant culture showed higher level of communication than those with conservative-dominant culture(p=.00) Finally. the hospitals with innovative-dominant culture showed higher level of managerial strategy than those with conservative-dominant and competitive culture. among which the latter showed higher level of managerial strategy than the former(p=.00).

  • Immature bovine oocytes were cultured to investigate whether the addition of FCS(10% or 20% ), CS (10%or 20% ) or BSA(5mg/ml) to culture medium with or without HEPES and co-culture with granulosa cells affect the frequency of in vitro maturation of extrafollicular bovine oocytes. After culture, the maturation rates were examined by the presence of 1st polar body and nuclear configuration. The maturation rate when FCS and CS as protein supplement were added to culture medium with or without HEPES was significantly higher than when BSA was added, and the maturation rate of extrafollicular bovine oocytes co-cultured with granulosa cells was higher than that cultured without granulosa cells, but there was no significant difference. FCS and CS were shown to be superior protein supplement when compared to BSA, and serum concentration, HEPES and co-culture with granulosa cells did not affect the in vitro-maturation of extrafollicular bovine oocytes.

The subjects of the study were 148 attendees of OO senior welfare center in Seoul and a survey was conducted from July 4 to October 7, 2016. The method of analysis was by using the SPSSWIN 18.0 program, a 5% level of significance was verified in a frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that first, from investigating the difference in the level of preparation for old age according to general characteristics, there was a significant difference according to age, occupation, monthly income, and physical condition but there was no significant difference according to gender and level of education. Second, as a result of observing the difference in the level of happiness according to general characteristics, although there was a significant difference according to occupation and monthly income, the difference level according to gender, age, level of education, health condition was less than a 5% level of significance. Third, from observing the correlation between the level of happiness and preparation of old age, it was found that happiness was positively correlated to preparation for old age in the following order: physical preparation for old age ((r=.576, p<.001), economic preparation for old age (r=.570, p<.001), psychological preparation for old age (r=.526, p<.001), social preparation for old age (r=.525, p<.001). It is forecasted that this study will be used as base line data for improvement of happiness and preparation for old age for the elderly according to general characteristics.
