A Study on the Character Fashion in the Viewpoint of the Cultural dependency (문화종속적 관점에서 본 캐릭터 패션)

  • The objective of the present study was trying to explain the phenomenon of the character fashion using famous character of America and Japan as a cultural dependency of mass culture in Korea. Today, the cultural situation of the Korean society was influenced much from foreign countries, especially America and Japan in every culture. It means the penetration of foreign cultures, the cultural domination of them and it could be explained by the cultural imperialism approach and the cultural imperialism approach presented the theoretical framework of cultural dependency of mass culture. In this viewpoint, I emphasized the influence of the motives used character fashion as an important phenomenon to analyize the cultural situation of Korea.

  • By changing housing market, housing cultural center furnishes information, value added, image of housing. For publicity their unique house, construction companies provide not only concrete and substantial material but also sensible and capacity service through the community space of housing cultural center. The consumer's experience of housing cultural center have an effect on purchase power apartment. The image of enterprise is important to select commodities to consumers. Though main clients are women, housing cultural center has not space concept and aim to concern for them. According to begin women a group of consumers, they have purchasing power in family. Apartment is no exception. Housing cultural center is used as continuous culture space that provide various experiential chance for consumer, especially women by systematize and distinct design detail and feature component. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is an analysis about community space of housing cultural center with the woman marketing based on experience.

  • The Industrial/Technological Cultural Properties are being protected, the rest facing with demolition and damages. In order to better cope with such situation, Korea has officially introduced the Registered Cultural Properties System since 2001 and began acknowledging the historical values of industrial buildings as modern cultural properties. In the Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, there are approximately 3,500 industrial buildings under the cultural asset protection and management not only in the Ruhr-region but also state-wide. Among these, this case study focuses on the Hansa Coking Plant, a large-scale Revitalization project to rehabilitate the old industrial complexes and facility buildings that have been shut down on December 15, 1992. Purpose of this study is to analyze main project plans of each facility in the Hansa Coking Plant and to bring out the main features of the plans, so that they can be utilized to find suggestions for Industrial/Technological Cultural Properties Revitalization in Korea.

  • This study focuses on evaluating that South Korea has the territorial right of Manzhouguo with disconfirming that China had the territorial right of Manzhouguo after the Second World War. This study also suggests the necessity of territorial cultures with establishing the theory of cultural territories and territorial cultures. The four main territorial cultures of Manzhouguo that are the burial culture, the place name cultural, the cadastral, and the folk culture were analyzed with Classifying territorial cultures. The results shows that territorial cultures of Manzhouguo is the same with territorial cultures of South Korea. Thus, This study suggests that territorial cultures of Manzhouguo should be vest to South Korea and not to China, because of the theory of cultural territories, which is that territorials can be defined with cultures and territorial cultures, which cultures can be defined with territorials.

  • Conservation treatment of stone cultural properties in the open air is mainly conducted by companies specialized in conservation treatment. This study presents cases of conservation treatment of stone cultural properties housed outdoors in Seoul, including the Three-story Stone Pagoda at Nakseongdae in Gwanak-gu. The present condition of and damage to stone cultural properties are investigated and the materials and techniques used for conservation treatment are presented. The contamination on the surface of stone cultural properties located in downtown areas shows features specific to the related areas, meaning each case requires tailored conservation techniques. This study is expected to serve as reference for future conservation treatment of stone cultural properties in Seoul as well as others in museum collections exhibited outdoors. It is hoped that the cases presented in this study can become widely known to people in charge of conservation treatment in the private and public sectors to improve the quality of conservation treatment applied to stone cultural properties.

  • This study aims to investigate cultural contents planning model by 'The Relation-Approach'. For this, I established conceptual framework of cultural contents, and suggested the General Model of Cultural Sentence Contents Planning: Concept Planning Model(CPM), Signifier Development & Choice Planning Model(SDCPM), Signifier Arrangement Planning Model(SAPM). The importance of culture is found in the importance of perceiving culture derived from the perception of importance of life. As culture is represented way of life constituted in the order of life, perceiving culture is regarded as perception of life in the view of that of cultural contents. Thus, cultural contents planning has not only its necessity and importance but also the meaning of existence in the aspect of being situated at the healthy order of life. Accordingly, A Study on the Cultural Contents Planning Model has usefulness in theory and practice, further more the possibility of attempting for the legitimacy and value contribution to the study of this realm will be accomplished.

A Literature Review of the Studies on Cultural Competency of Nurses and Nursing Students in Korea (국내 간호사와 간호대학생의 문화적 역량 연구에 대한 문헌고찰)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify trends in research on cultural competency of nursing students and nurses in Korea and to provide suggestions for future studies. Methods: A literature search was conducted with 432 papers published between 1985 and 2016 from five electronic databases and other sources using such key words as 'cultural competency', 'cultural nursing', 'multi-cultural competency', 'nursing students', 'nurses', etc. Results: The research design of 86 nursing researches on the cultural competence of nurses and nursing students analyzed in this study was 90.7% in quantitative research, 9.3% in qualitative research, and 2.3% in mixed research. Cultural competence was the most measured concept. A total of 41 papers (47.7%) out of 86 papers were used to measure cultural competence. Ten different tools were used various instruments of cultural competency were used in 41 papers. In 11 experimental studies, new methods such as role playing, case study, four stage 3D puzzle model, newspaper reading, and writing reflection note were used other than traditional method of lecture. Conclusion: The overall findings of this study suggest that future research should include more well-designed experimental studies, qualitative studies and repeated studies to confirm the effects of findings from previous studies. Development of effective and highly diverse teaching methods is recommended to increase cultural competency. Supporting systems and funding are required to help activate research of nurses.

A Ten-Year Analytical Comparative Study on the International Journal of Consumer Studies

  • Purpose - This study analyzes topics discussed in the International Journal of Consumer Studies through a content analysis, to reveal the impact of cross-cultural management in consumer research. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - The International Journal of Consumer Studies has the highest impact factor among international consumer journals, and was chosen for research. This study investigated 712 articles, covering a ten-year period. Results - A total of 82 articles were found to be related to cross-cultural management, out of 712 articles. This shows a need for improvement in the area of cross-cultural management, and implies that the discipline of cross-cultural management will continue to have a significant impact on consumer studies. Conclusions - While content analyses have been conducted in the area of consumer research in the past, a comparative content analysis in the International Journal of Consumer Studies is unprecedented. This study offers insights on the comparative analysis of general articles and articles related to cross-cultural management, which will be useful reference points for future global markets and fields in distribution and consumer research.

  • This is a comparative cultural study on the cultural dimensions of the Korean original film and its Chinese remake film. This research is based on the cultural dimension study by Dutch organizing psychologist Geert Hofstede (1991). In this research I have tried to compare cultural dimensions that are shown implicitly in the original Korean film of "Blind" and its Chinese remake, entitled "The Witness", in terms of the narrative structures.

Gender, Cultural Disposition and Peer Conflict Resolution Strategies of Elementary School Children (초등학생의 성별, 문화성향과 친구간 갈등해결전략)

  • In this study, characteristics of cultural disposition and peer conflict resolution strategies and the relationship between cultural dispositions and peer conflict resolution strategies of elementary school children were investigated. In order to achieve this research purpose, the following research questions were established. First, what are the characteristics of cultural dispositions that children have? Second, what are the characteristics of conflict resolution strategies that children use? Third, what are the relationships between cultural dispositions and peer conflict resolution strategies? The subjects of this study were 564(283 male and 281 female) 5th and 6th graders. Research instruments used to collect data were INDCOL and Conflict Resolution Strategy Scale. Collected data were analyzed using Descriptives, t-test, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, Cross-tabs and Two-way ANOVA. As a whole, children strongly showed collectivistic pattern and there were no sex differences in terms of cultural dispositions. The distributions of styles were in the order of HC>VI>VC>HI. The distribution of conflict resolution strategies generally were in the order of integrating and compromising>Avoiding>Dominating>Obliging for total sample and there were significant sex differences in the styles of conflict resolution strategies. This study also found that there were significant correlations between cultural dispositions and conflict resolution strategies. integrating/compromising and dominating style were different according to cultural dispositions but there were no interactive effect of sex and cultural dispositions in conflict resolution strategies. Finally, the implications of this study on theory and practice were discussed and suggestions for further study were made.
