This paper tries to find out the characteristics of the vernacular dwellings in Noksan area which has been a part of Kaya cultural realm. Through the analyses of its environments and several practical unit plans. The characteristic of the vernacular dwellings in thes arer are as below. The dwellings has been transfigured form [Omaksari] hut which is generally the smallest house form in Korea. The noticeable vernacular hut in this area is smallest 4-kan double-wing plan which is irregular 전 shape, but they call it single wing and 2-kan plan. Leed which can be obtained easily in thes area is used on roof and in wall. Timbers used in constrution are very slim or rather weak, but they were treated carafully. The chimney form in this area seems the results of minimizing of their being from the invasion of Japanese pirate, but also it seems an effective method of heat control. In conclusion, we cannot deny that the house form of this area seems affected by its exclusive natural and social environments.
This study aims to analyze the hair styles featured in the collections from S/S season of 1995 to F/W season of 2004 both qualitatively and quantitatively by using content-analytical methods. This study was able to form a classifying system that divides hair styles into those artificial and those natural through systematic and scientific research. The resulting system, in turn, broadened the basis for understanding modern fashion and hair style expressions. In addition, by analyzing design-related characteristics, certain expressive techniques employed, and trends in detail, this study contributed to establishing the hair styles, which form part of socio-cultural phenomena, as an academic subject.
Cultural heritage teaching and learning, which uses cultural heritage as educational content, has not been sufficiently analyzed and studied based on clear educational theories so far. Among educational theories, constructivism is a theory in which learning is a process of constructing learning contents determined by learners' individual experiences and interests, and the result is evaluated as a confirmation of whether or not they have the ability to carry out the process. Cultural heritage is a lively and interesting social and cultural product, and it is an educational content that has sufficient educational function and meaning for a textbook. It is considered to be a very meaningful study to apply the constructivist educational theory to the educational contents of cultural heritage with these characteristics. Based on this awareness of the problem, this study examined the characteristics and principles of constructivist teaching and learning, the characteristics of cultural heritage, and the principles of constructivist teaching and learning on a theoretical basis. In addition, from the perspective of constructivism, the current cultural heritage teaching and learning was analyzed and problems were derived. Based on this, the direction of cultural heritage teaching and learning is that the cultural heritage teaching and learning process should be learner-centered, the teaching and learning principle should be cognitive conflict, the teaching and learning content should be in the form of task solving, and teaching and learning activities should be cooperative. presented. In addition, an example of a program was presented to specifically show the actual state of teaching and learning of cultural assets from the perspective of constructivism. Cultural heritage teaching and learning research from the perspective of constructivism will be an opportunity to discover new meanings of cultural heritage that we have not yet found, and it will also serve as an opportunity to present and establish the direction of cultural heritage teaching and learning, which has been barren until now.

The purpose of this study is to scientifically analyze physicochemical characteristics of the roof tiles used for palaces in the Joseon Dynasty which stored in Changdeokgung material storage and Seooreung Jaesil and the modern handmade ones which made by N company to understand the differences between their manufacturing techniques. Through chromaticity, cross-sectional observation, component analysis, and crystal structure analysis, it was possible to confirm the physicochemical properties and fired properties of the roof tile. Roof tiles from the Joseon Dynasty have a wider colorimetric range and higher apparent porosity and water absorption, on average, than the modern roof tiles. The cross section of the Joseon Dynasty roof tiles shows that most clay minerals have not been vitrified, remaining in the form of atypical particles, while the modern roof tiles have denser clay materials. X-ray diffraction analysis identified low-temperature minerals such as micas in Joseon roof tiles but no peak of these minerals was observed in the modern roof tiles, implying that the modern ones are fired at higher temperature than the Joseon ones. Therefore, the modern roof tiles are fired at higher temperature and have higher density than the Joseon ones due to the use of pugmills. The general content of main ingredients was similar between the two. Additionally, the principal component analysis of trace elements in the Joseon roof tiles showed that most samples were from similar areas. It seems that the Joseon roof tiles were manufactured using soils supplied from a specific region at the same timeframe and their consistency in the content of principal components implies that they also have similar mix proportions of clay.
This paper aims to identify the meaning of architectural form of the East and the West. Ordinarily, we know the visual differences of architectural form between the two cultural families, and the technical reasons of such differences. However, the East and the West have their own views of architectural form that are derived from their own views of architecture, and again the views of architecture are rooted in their own views of the world. The paper maintains a comparative stance between the two cultures in analyzing the different concepts of architectural form, and employ the ideas of 'Form(形象)' and 'Energy-Form(氣形)' as a kind of representative concept of the two views of architectural form. It is discussed that the idea of Form pursued the realization of ultimate substance which is less materialistic but more ideal., while, the idea of Energy-Form pursued the realization of oneness and health through mutual interaction between man, architecture and nature. Architectural form in the West has been the purposeful expression of human ideal, while in the East, it was an expediential device for better energy condition. It seems important to understand such differences of the meaning of architectural form between the East and the West, since, in present time, we tend to think that the Western conception of architectural form is the only possible one. But it is not generally known that the Western conception of form has very particular background reason of its own which is unique to Western culture, and on the other hand, the nature of East Asian conception of architectural form is generally unknown.
The objectives of this study were to investigate the perceptions of Korean female university students for clothing pattern tendency and structural element of clothing pattern image dimension and to find how individual personality type influence the preferred clothing pattern characteristics. For this study, a questionnaire was designed and sent to 600 female university students of Daejeon, Seoul and metropolitan area. The tool used in this study was MBTI(The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Form G Korean version and for the analysis of data SPSS 10.0 package were used. 10 representative patterns for this study were floral, dot, stripe, check, animal, abstract & artistic, geometric, vegetable & leaf, paisely, patchwork pattern. The data were analyzed by factor analysis, arithmetic mean, One-Way ANOVA, x²-test. The major findings were as follows: Clothing pattern image dimension perceived by Korean female university students for 10 representative patterns were basic form, deluxe, specialty, and cultural dimension. Among them, basic form and deluxe dimension were major dimensions. In basic form dimension, dot pattern score was high indicating female students perceive it as light, comfortable, clean, cool and simple pattern image. In deluxe dimension, floral pattern scored high and in specialty dimension, abstract and artistic pattern scored high among other pattern image. In cultural dimension, geometric pattern and check pattern scored high. Based on other detailed analysis results, It is concluded that the personality type greatly influence clothing pattern evaluation. For example, in case of color combination of patchwork pattern, there was a difference in color preference depend on a personality type such as sensing(S) or intuition(N). Therefore, sensing personality type preferred adjacent color combination than contrast color combination. Detailed marketing strategy is necessary in planning textile design of merchandise plan.
The goal of this thesis is to make a comparative study about the variant form of the Chinese character in the five sorts of old maps drawing outside of the main gates of old map including DeDongYei-jido. The main task of this thesis can be classified under three heads - (1) introducing the literature of comparative study in the five sorts of old maps including DeDongYei-jido (2) classification of variant form in the five sorts of old maps (3) characteristic of variant form in the five sorts of old maps. In this thesis, aspect of variant form is classified under six head - (1) variation of the whole shape of the character (2) taking place the variation in both sides of Chinese character (3) taking place the variation in part (4) taking place variation in the strokes of the Chinese character (5) misusing different characters (6) changing different characters. This thesis explains some characteristic of variant form - (1) simplification of the shape of characters (2) using the Hou-qi-zi(後起字, Chinese character which is actually the same but made the next) (3) replacing the overlapped both sides of Chinese character with omit mark (4) a wrongly written character (5) discovering the variant form such as variant form of 廣, 广 variant form of 廛, variant form of 院 which was not recorded in Chinese literature. From now on, there should be some collections of variant form of Korean style and study. we are going to have to standardize aspect of variation and rule of variant form in old maps until we have to make some ways to recognize the block letter.

Antifungal and insecticidal activity of Korean traditional medicinal plants was carried out to develop natural material for the development of organic cultural heritage conservation. As a result, Phellodendron amurense fruit was finally selected as a candidate of antifungal and insecticidal natural material. An novel active compound was purified from the ethylacetate fraction of Phellodendron amurense fruits using silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and PTLC. The compound was obtained as yellow oil form; UV ${\lambda}_{max}$(MeOH): 260 nm. The chemical structure of novel compound was determined as (4'-ethyl-2'-methylfuranyl)-6-methoxy-7-methylnona-2E,4E,6Z,8E-tetraenoic acid on the basis of various NMR experiments including $^1H$- and $^{13}C$-NMR, HMQC, HMBC and ESI-mass spectrum.

It can also take pictures with the inventions. Both contents implement what we want to deliver accurately through simple content. They increase the enjoyment of cultural heritage through experience contents. This research addressed to help the cultural property information spread to the public by using Augmented Reality.
This research aims at the contribution to globalize and modernize the traditional Korean image by comprehending the taste of design that domestic college students have for traditional feminine head ornaments and subsequently elaborate the development of cultural products that are related to these decorative objects. In regards to this research method, the examination on the traditional feminine ornaments was followed through a review of literature and precedent studies and a survey was conducted on the preference about them. After the adoption of final valid responses, an analytical method, PASW 18.0, was used for frequency analysis, technical analysis, reliability, and regression analysis. The results were as follows. First, in the category of tendency analysis for the application of traditional feminine headpiece in fashion cultural products, it was revealed that a taste for the design that meet the satisfaction for both trend and practicability was prominently prevalent. Also, the design that express the individual characteristic was taken as a preferred option. Second, in the preference for the design of traditional feminine headpieces in fashion cultural products, the result indicated that the modern type was preferred in the form of re-creation as long as those products deform the tradition. As for the selective taste for patterns, their preference came in the order of plant, animal, and geometry-abstract types. Especially, for the case of plant and animal patterns, the reinterpreted design of modernized shapes were opted rather than a simply recopied format of the conventional type of the feminist head ornament. Third, for the category of item selection to apply the feminine head ornament in order to design the fashion cultural products, it turned out that people preferred the application to accessory rather than clothing. Lastly, it was found that rarity, harmony with other fashion goods, pattern, and design should be considered when the traditional motif was used for cultural products.
