This study was done to evaluate current spiritual distress assessment tools and to assess nursing research adapted this spiritual distress assessment tools. Spiritual distress assessment tools were identified through systematic review. Ten studies about spiritual distress assessment tools were identified. In these studies, three international and one domestic standardized assessment tools were found. The purpose of developing these tools was to provide spiritual care through assessing spiritual distress. Domestic assessment tool had low reliability, was not proved by constructive validity, and did not include multidimensional spiritual concepts. International assessment tools may take into account cultural and religious backgrounds in the context for cultural adaptation of instruments. Based on these results, the development of Korean version of spiritual distress assessment tool is recommended.

This study aimed to propose implications for mental health and cultural arts education, in which certain factors can contribute to acquiring and improving creativity in adolescents to cultivate the creative human resources required in future society. The study used panel data from the Korean Education Longitudinal Study provided by the Korea Educational Development Institute. First, we analyzed the correlation between mental health and creativity and then examined mediation and serial mediation effects of the frequency of participation in cultural activities and the experience of them between two factors. The results showed that mental health was significantly positively correlated with creativity. Additionally, the frequency of participation in cultural activities and their experience were confirmed to have partial mediating effects. In other words, sound mental health factors such as comfort, enjoyment and happiness, cultural education, and cultural activities were found to have positive effects on creativity in adolescents. To develop creativity in adolescents, this study suggests the following challenges: (1) enhancing positive mental health, (2) increasing participation in cultural and artistic activities, (3) actively developing education programs for the cultural arts on community and educational sites, and (4) using and promoting local cultural and artistic education programs. These are expected to make an important contribution to fostering talented adolescents with creativity and convergence.

This paper concerns the cultural tourism and the importance of cultural interpreters. Globalization has become a key word of 21st century, so the volume of tourists has been increasing. Furthermore, as the Korean wave has expanded to the world, more people are interested in Korea and Korean culture, and we observed the obvious increase of tourists. International tourists visit Korea with a variety of purposes, and their travel types are also diversified. This paper analyzes tourists' behavior based on the data provided by KNTO and briefly examines the cultural interpreters in 5 major organizations. Then considering the specific roles of the guides based on the Cohen (1985) and Lee (2011), I propose that the government should give more focus on the professional foreign language speaking interpreters for culture. As for an alternative to the present volunteering system for foreign languages, I strongly suggest multi-culture families or international students staying in Korea, for the wiser use of their abilities, their easy adaptation to the new world, and the peaceful coexistence.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the mediating effect of social connectedness and social responsibility in the relationship with self-leadership and cultural competency on nursing students. Method: The participants in the study were 207 nursing students in two college located in C province. Data were analyzed with the SPSS/WIN 24 program. Result: There were significant correlations among self-leadership, social connectedness, social responsibility, cultural competency. Social connectedness and responsibility showed partial mediating effect in the relationship between self-leadership and cultural competency. Conclusion: To enhance nursing students' cultural competency, it is necessary to develop effective strategies and education program to enhance self-leadership, social connectedness, social reponsibility.

Low oxygen treatment and heating treatment are used to prevent insects in the field of food science. These eco-friendly control methods can be applied to biological control technique in conservation treatment of organic cultural properties. To evaluate material stability, low-oxygen treatment and low oxygen treatment are applied to wood, pigment, paper and textile that are related to historical wooden buildings. As a result, wood moisture content declined after low oxygen treatment. But decline rate is a little, so it can be expected to turn back original state as time passes. And test result on pigment, paper, textile of chrominance and strength of test materials are stable. But after heating treatment, pigments are separated.

The purpose of this study is to develop a design as a high value-added exportable industrial product by developing a cultural product, that can be accepted as having universal beauty by people in the Western cultural area. This is done by, re-analyzing it from a modern perspective after applying the color representation, used in pop art, to Shin Saimdang's Chochungdo (草蟲圖, insects on flowers) which clearly expresses Korea's national emotion and aesthetic consciousness. The research method depends upon developing cultural products such as scarfs, neckties, handkerchiefs, and folding fans, which are communicated in the global market The expressive technique of pop art is utilized after reconstructing the color sensation of pop art in the aesthetic dimension of the natural, physical, and formative beauty of Chochungdo based on the whole understanding of our country's genre of Chochungdo and Western pop art. With regard to the colors in the developed design, the basic colors were extracted and applied by selecting 10 pieces in the flower series, which were made with the silkscreen printmaking technique in the 1970s by Andy Warhol, a master in pop art. A work that integrates pop art, a global art trend, with Korean traditional culture is expected to highlight Korean traditional culture in the global cultural era.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of multicultural competencies and influencing factors of multicultural competencies in nursing students. The participants of 181 subjects were recruited from three colleges in K and B. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data, and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one way-ANOVA and multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 17.0. Results showed that cultural competence of nursing students was middle range. There was a significant positive correlation between cultural competence, empathy, and self-efficacy. The significant factors influencing cultural competence of nursing students were empathy, self-efficacy, and education of multiple cultural. These three factors explained 51% of the variance in multicultural competencies of nursing students. The study finding suggest that to develop the learning program with achievement level of multicultural competencies for nursing students.

The purpose of this study is to examine the concepts and types of cross-cultural collaborative online learning that enhance the utilization of advanced ICT in education and contribute to the promotion of educational exchanges between countries, and suggest exchange learning design models necessary for the active introduction. For this study, previous studies related to cross-cultural collaborative online learning were examined. As a result, cross-cultural collaborative online learning is an educational method based on constructivism that explore and construct knowledge by interacting and collaborating with students, teachers, and field experts who are linguistically and culturally heterogeneous based on advanced ICT. The type of cross-cultural collaborative online learning could be divided into synchronous exchange learning centered on remote video classes and asynchronous exchange learning centered on website based tasks. A PPIE learning design model considering the characteristics of each type is presented.

The lifestyle of the new consumer class of people with diversified social structures and tastes is affecting society as a whole. As of now, emerging lots of complex cultural space with unique sensibility and individuality, this paper is about proposing the branding of a complex cultural space. I selected Sounds Hannam as a cultural complex and conducted in-depth interviews about brand experience and Ethnography. The study found that Sounds Hannam needs sense of hearing and smell because the sensory factors of the Sounds Hannam are concentrated in the visual field, and also, there is a need to create an appropriate communication channel through SNS. The Sounds Hannam had the characteristic factors of sensibility, relaxation and content based on a diversity different from the existing one. Throughout research, it was derived that planning space as a place to inspire people through spatial composition that triggers behavior and creative thinking is the goal of a complex cultural space and at the same time, an effective way to reflect the lifestyle of those in 20s.

The purpose of this study is to propose an efficient user experience of integrated applications by comparing and analyzing the usability of existing cultural content applications in Seoul. The study method was based on seven components of the honeycom model to conduct an interview and analyze for user experience measurements of existing applications. The results of the study summarized them in three ways. First, we need to organize a wide variety of information into categories in an easy-to-understand way. Second, making it easy to purchase tickets within the application. Finally, it is necessary to recommend cultural content that is suitable for me. This research is expected to be used as a basis for the user experience of the Seoul City Cultural Content Integration application.
