  • All public libraries are collection-based knowledge and cultural service institutions. To this end, a collection development policy is an essential and a strategic menu that every library should establish first. Regional central libraries should establish and apply optimal collection development policies to conduct the legal duties as knowledge and information centers and cooperative preservation facilities of the cities and provinces. Thus, this study analyzed and compared in detail the collection development guidelines (draft) and regulations of regional central libraries in Korea and the collection development policies of metropolitan public libraries abroad. Results showed that the policies of domestic regional central libraries were simply practical guidelines while those in most developed countries were substantial in format and content. All regional central library systems should establish and document collection development policies based on the importance of collection development, future-oriented thinking, and strategic decision. The study also suggested the basic principles and the format for this purpose.

  • In 1995, the filming location of the drama had been famous, and as a result it brings the effect of increasing tourists of that areas. After that, many local governments try to host the filming on their regions to be potential tourist attractions. With the same stream, Jeonju also has attempted to host International Film Festival and to set up Jeonju Film Commission and Jeonju Cinema Complex. However, although the city already has rich infrastructure facilities to make films, the city hardly tries to use the filming locations as tourist attractions. This study suggests four ways of using filming locations as tourist attractions to activate Jeonju economy and improve Jeonju's cultural image. We firstly collect social bigdata related with tourists of filming locations and tourist attractions in Jeonju from Twitter, which is the most representative SNS, and then perform frequency and trend analysis. We also investigate major factors of visits to tourist's attractions based on content analysis of tweet mentions.

  • Research was initiated to investigate turf performance under USGA soil system. USGA system 45 centimeters deep was built with rootzone layer, intermediate layer, and drainage layer. Six turfgrass entries were comprised of 3 blends and 3 mixtures from cool-season grasses (CSG). Turfgrass color and quality ratings were best in spring and fall, especially early May to early July and late August to early November. Kentucky bluegrass (KB) consistently produced the greatest performance, while perennial ryegrass (PR) the poorest. Intermediate turf performance between KB and PR was observed with tall fescue (TF). Among CSG mixtures it increased with KB but decreased with PR. There were considerable variations in summer turf Performance. No summer drought injury was found in KB and TF. However, PR showed poor performance through summer as compared with others. Among mixtures, it decreased with PR. It was suggested that PR mix in less than $20\%$ in the mixtures to have an acceptable quality in summer. Cultural intensity also affected it. With lowering mowing height, KB of rhizomatous-type in growth habit kept good quality, while PR and TF with bunch-type in growth habit poor quality. Mowing quality was greatly different among CSG. KB produced clean-cut surface, but PR unclean one. If had an intermediate mowing quality between KB and PR. A great difference in green color retention was observed among CSG. The longest CSG was PR that kept green for 339 days, while the shortest one TF for 267 days. KB continued to keep green for 290 days. The mixtures kept green in color for 292 to 315 days, depending on turfgrass mixing intensity. The greater the PR in content, the longer the green color duration. These results demonstrate that KB was the best and PR the worst among CSG grown in USGA system under a domestic climate, in regards of turf quality, color, mowing quality, summer turf performance and green color duration. KB and TF are most adequate for high-maintenance and low-maintenance area, respectively. In case of mixtures for high-quality turf, it was desirable to use KB-based mixture with PR of below $20\%$ in seeding rate.

  • Until now, healing programs in libraries have provided services under the theme of reading therapy as part of the reading culture program. The purpose of this study is to suggest a way to revitalize healing programs in libraries. This study derives the types and themes of healing activities and analyzes the healing activities in libraries and similar institutions. As a result, first, the healing content to be treated varies depending on the subject, so it should be applied to the library in consideration of this. Therefore, a treatment program was proposed for infants and children (0-13 years), adolescents (14-19 years), adolescents (20-64 years), and old age (65 years and over). Second, it proposed a way to operate healing programs through linkage with institutions such as libraries and medical institutions that were shown as a result of analysis of the healing program.

  • After observing that most tourists plan to complete their visits to multiple cultural heritage sites within one day, we surmised that for many museum visitors, the foremost thought is with regard to the amount of time is to be spent at each location and how they can maximize their enjoyment at a site while still balancing their travel itinerary? Recommendation systems in e-commerce are built on knowledge about the users' previous purchasing history; recommendation systems for museums, on the other hand, do not have an equivalent data source available. Recent solutions have incorporated advanced technologies such as algorithms that rely on social filtering, which builds recommendations from the nearest identified similar user. Our paper proposes a different approach, and involves providing dynamic recommendations that deploy social filtering as well as content-based filtering using term frequency-inverse document frequency. The main challenge is to overcome a cold start, whereby no information is available on new users entering the system, and thus there is no strong background information for generating the recommendation. In these cases, our solution deploys statistical methods to create a recommendation, which can then be used to gather data for future iterations. We are currently running a pilot test at Chao Samphraya national museum and have received positive feedback to date on the implementation.

  • The university museum is working to discover, research, and exhibit cultural artifacts as well as use them as resources of education and academic researches as one of the important organizations of the university. Current, however, university museums have the low-level usability caused by the reduction of financial and administrative supports of the university. One approach to solve this problem may be the design of mobile docent app for improving the accessibility of the museum. The app enables users get artifacts and education programs without the restriction and learn artifact-related knowledge easily. In this paper, we design and implement a new mobile docent app according to the analysis of content of the Chosun university museum as a real case study. In addition, we evaluate the functionality and usability of the proposed app by affordance-based questionnaire.

  • This study examines the status and the physical features of Paraloid B-72 layers with examination of microstructure and analysis of organic matters. Paraloid B-72 layers were coated on samples from the colour layer of outer wall painting in Mireuk hall in Geumsan temple. On the basis of the previous examination result, it has made the samples which are similar to outer wall in Mireuk hall in Geumsan temple. The samples can be divided into two, one; 5% Paraloid B-72 coating and another is without coating. Then samples have been experimented under the compulsive environments of infrared radiation and immersion, thereafter compared the results of the damages and physical features between two samples. As a result of the comparison, the sample with Paraloid B-72 had more serious cracks, exfoliations and peeling layers than that of without Paraloid B-72. Otherwise, in the examination of ultraviolet radiation, the sample with Paraloid B-72 coating showed weaker physical properties, less density in structure of colour layer and less hardness in surface of colour layer than the sample without coating. The percentage of moisture content after the ultraviolet radiation was higher in the sample without Paraloid B-72 than the sample with Paraloid B-72 coating. Observing the conditions before the ultraviolet radiation, the sample with Paraloid B-72 coating demonstrated lower rate in moisture evaporation rate than the sample without Paraloid B-72. As a consequence, in examination of this samples, the change of physical features are increased in the sample with Paraloid B-72 coating than that without Paraloid B-72 when compulsive environment of heat, moisture and ultraviolet rays for a short term are imposed.

  • This paper conceptualizes the two-faced platform based on interface studies and two-sided market theory to critically analyze today's information technology culture such as the Internet. With this conceptual framework, the Internet can be investigated to have two faces, in which the square of user's openness, sharing, and participation is unfold on the front face, whereas the market of tracking, surveillance, and control of user's activities is formed on the other face. The two faces contradictorily coexist, resulting in technological and cultural dynamics on the Internet. Therefore, the Internet today as a two-faced platform can be described as a square-market interface. By analyzing on transformation of the web architecture, shift of informational commodity from content to data, and web bugs' user tracking across two faces, it examines how the world wide web itself can function as a two-faced platform. Lastly, implications and further works are suggested to improve the two-faced platform as a conceptual framework and to deeply analyze broader information technology culture based on it.

  • Telematics is a kind of the convergence of industries such as an automobile, communication, contents, and so on. Jeju-Do has been selected as a model city for telematics and has carried out the telematics service project. Jeju Telematics contains six service areas including navigation, traffic information, emergency assistance, leisure information, tour destination information, and cultural life information. Jeju telematics project has been planned to be dealt with the aspects of technological skills and content development. In fact, because of the nature of model project for testing information technologies, Jeju telematics has been strongly approached by technical aspects. However, telematics is composed of services for users. Then, the success or fail of telematics project can be dependent upon the demand of users, and, in general, users are influenced by the contents of services. Thus, the contents of services should be also dealt as a major concern in the telematics project. In this sense, the purpose of this study is to examine the degree of recognition and preference of contents by users about telematics service. Examination is proceeded by a survey method. Based on the result of the survey, this paper proposes the alternatives for the future directions of Jeju Telematics project regarding contents.

  • Candida brumptii was one of the best isolates which could grow on alcohol distillation slops (reported in the previous paper). Attempts were made to investigate the cultural conditions for cell mass production by this strain, and the results obtained were as follow. The supernatant of the alcohol distillation slops without dilution support ed better growth of the strain than diluted ones. The addition of ammonium sulfate (0.2%), ammonium phosphate (0.1-0.2%), potassium phosphate (0.2%) to the supernatant resulted in positive effects for the growth, among the various inorganic nitrogen and other salts supplements. BOD and COD of the supernatant were reduced approximately 30% and 20%, respectively in 3 days culture. Cell production was maximized when grown at $35^{\circ}C$ and pH 5.0. The yield of cell mass was 1.03% by dry weight and its crude protein content was about 52.65%
