The strain producing biosurfactant was isolated from soil. The isolated strain was identified as the genus Tsukamurella through its morphological, cultural, physiological, menaquinone type, fatty acid composition characteristics. The highest biosurfactant production by Tsukamurella sp. 26A was observed after 4 days cultivation in the culture medium containing n-hexadecane 7%, $NaNO_{3}$ 0.2%, $K_2HPO_4$ 0.001%, $MgSO_{4}$ center dot $7H_{2}O$ 0.02%, $CaCl_2$ center dot $2H_{2}O$ 0.02%, yeast extract 0.02%(pH 6.8-7.0, 30^{\circ}C.$ The surface and interfacial tension of an aqueous solution reached 30 mNim and 1.5 mNim, respectively. The biosurfactant stabilized oil-in-water emulsion with a variety of hydrocarbons, edible oils and petroleum oils.

In recent years, Korean rice must compete with the rice of advanced countries under Doha Development Agenda(DDA) and free Trade Agreement(FTA). Therefore we should find more active and positive solution in rice industry according to the inncreasing power of international pressure. Increasing rice production was the most important policy during the past food-deficient days, but recently, with overproduction of rice, various circulation system by the brand(price)-differentiation should be settled in a recent market of Korea. Nowadays, some advanced rice farmers and Rice Processing Complex(RPC) managers developed new brands of rice with high-quality, adding healthy materials and environment-friendly farming methods. Therefore, the future strategy of making a new brand rice should be planned including selection of rice variety, cultural and post-harvest techniques, circulation and processing methods to compete against foreign rice. And environment-friendly farming is also recommendable for food safety and differentiate from imported rice. For the purpose of successful brand-rice, the following points might be considered. Firstly, selection of good quality rice and continual development of good variety must be conducted for the differentiation of Korean rice from foreign rice. Secondly, a special contract between producer and consumer with functional-rice, organic filming-rice, specific-rice will be recommendable. Thirdly, improvement of post-harvest management and milling system are necessary for the production of differentiated-rice. Fortunately, standard of inspection, rules of description for brand-rice must be developed by a more scientific examination in order to settlement of trust for consumer. Finally, provincial or regional-representative brand rice must be settled and conducted for the development of agreement market system between producer and consumer.

Nowadays most colleges are confronting with a serious problem because many students have left their majors at the colleges. In order to make a countermeasure for reducing major separation rate, many universities are trying to find a proper solution. As a similar endeavor, the objective of this paper Is to find a predicting model of students leaving their majors. The sample for this study was chosen from a university in Kangwon-Do during seven years(2000.3.1 $\sim$ 2006. 6.30). In this study, the ratio of training sample versus testing sample among partition data was controlled as 50% : 50% for a validation test of data division. Also, this study provides values about accuracy, sensitivity, specificity about three kinds of algorithms including CHAID, CART and C4.5. In addition, ROC chart and gains chart were used for classification of students leaving their majors. The analysis results were very informative since those enable us to know the most important factors such as semester taking a course, grade on cultural subjects, scholarship, grade on majors, and total completion of courses which can affect students leaving their majors.

HRD professionals should be able to contribute to performance improvement by focusing on strategic business partner activities such as planning, organizational development, and organizational design. Taking a systems view is important in the development of strategy because simply offering specific interventions neither changes nor improves the fundamental systems of an organization. In order to guide the management of organizations as systems, HRD professionals need to not only deal with resistance to change in solution implementation but also identify quantifiable measures to judge the effectiveness of implemented solutions with partnerships with relevant stakeholders. HRD professionals are particularly required to play a critical role in aligning process goals, process design, and process management to improve performance. Adjusting human performance policies and practices to local cultural differences is also among the urgent tasks for HRD professionals.

Cultural conditions for the polysaccharide production by Pseudomonas elodea ATCC 31461, a thermogellable polysaccharide producer, were investigated. Optimum condition for polysaccharide production were: temperature; $30^{\circ}C$, pH; 6.5, glucose; 25 g/L. nitrogen source; peptone, C/N ratio; 5.0. Maximum production and yield at this condition were ca. 32 g/L and 128%, viscosity of 1% polysaccharide solution was 837 mPas at 35/sec.. Consistency index and flow behaviour index were 2570 mPas and 0.66

This paper concerned with the Honsu(婚需) norms of urban residents in Korea, and was designed to suggest a solution to solve the current problems of the extravagant Honsu with the changes int he customs related to Honsu. Data collected through interviews with questionaire were analyzed statistically by X2-test, ANOVA, Scheffe-test, factor analysis, cluster analysis and product moment correlation coefficients using SPSS PC+ program. Factors of HONSU norm, was characterized into 3 types, exchangabilities and focusing on groom's family, preparation of goods for housekeeping, and independence from parents and individualism. HONSU was found to be regarded as the basis for better life for the new family provided by their patents in terms of the family norm. The current problems of extravagant HONSU seems due to the family norm. Factors of HONSU norms could be grouped into 4 categories by the cluster analysis. They are 1)the preparation of basic house-keeping items for independent family, 2)an opportunity to secure an economic base for the new family, 3)an opportunity to show off their wealth by selecting easily exchangable goods, and 4)others who select items based on their personalities. An oppportunity to show off their wealth by selecting easily exchangable was the cultural norm of Honsu, and it was found that urban housewives had almost uniform thoughts about Honsu. Consideration of items for individuals' needs and independent life took place in deciding on Honsu for all four types of couples although the weight given to this consideration showed difference. Preparation for the new family and individual needs were the common grounds of HONSU norms in all categories through the weight was different.

The planning of circulation area and circulation path are very important elements for layout of interior space of housing. This study is, therefore, aimed at synthetical review of that area from a functional, structural and socio-cultural point of view as well as typological analysis of that area. In the interior space of housing the networking of spaces according to the circulation route imply divers aspects of independent or dependant significances. It is thus, closely related with to whether circulation area open or closed, whether circulation path concentrated or distributed, and whether it passes Individual rooms or not. With regard to relationship with public and private spaces, there are many grounds for combining each other. This study also tried to develope program for planning of circulation system, utilizing typological analysis of them. At the same time this study suggests examples for layout of housing spaces. It is expected that the results represented In the form of systematic diagram will deserve to be a tool for providing an appropriate solution to the problem of diversity of user's needs.

For the improvement of the cultural rural village(new rural village project), it is very important to find the various planning alternatives. The purpose of this study is to suggest the ideas which are able to be applied to the rural site planning. The YoungMoon project site located in Kyunggi province was selected case study, The followings are suggestions developed in the process of preparing an alternative plan for the case study. 1) The preparing of the rural site plan is the organizing process of the planning ideas responsive to the condition of both a project site and the project directions. 2) In developing the schematic plan, it is very useful to introduce the cluster madang (small public open space) including 25 houses as a basic planning unit. 3) In comparison with the project plan, the alternative plan presented by this study has advantages of amenity and public space of the residential environment of the new rural village. It is properly said that we have to more and more discuss the best solution to take in planning the rural site, and this efforts contribute the improvement of the quality of the new village project.

This study attempts to seek a solution, in terms of brain science, to stimulate reading activities of men to whom no attention has been given from the field of reading. In order to do so, brain pattern, reading tendency, reading preference, reading effectiveness and influence of reading were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, it showed that respondents' characteristics did not affect brain patterns, but school and social influences on reading were found to affect brain patterns. Second, reading propensity according to gender was observed to be different in terms of personal health, personal self - esteem, and cultural artistry. On the other hand, reading effectiveness was found to be different in terms of reading engagement and the willingness to continue reading whereas reading propensity according to the brain pattern was different in books related to humor and family matters. Third, reading satisfaction, reading engagement and willingness to continue reading all were observed to affect the reading activities of men. Suggesting measures to stimulate reading activities of men based on such findings, first, implementing dynamic reading education programs and finding reading models for men are needed. Second, when selecting books for reading program operations, books should be recommended according to gender rather than being selected en bloc by libraries. Third, since reading education at home shows high influences on both male and male-type brain pattern, the starting point of reading education should be made at homes. In particular, fathers, who can become a role model for men, need a reading role model, and reading education programs for fathers are also required.
