다국적기업의 문화제국주의: 한국진출 월마트를 중심으로 (MNC's Cultural Imperialism: Focusing on Wal-Mart in Korea)

  • 전 세계에 걸쳐 경영활동을 벌이는 다국적기업은 상당수 시장에서는 제품, 서비스의 선택폭을 넓힌다는 측면에서 소비자들로부터 환영을 받는다. 그러나 일부 시장으로부터는 같은 방식으로 경영을 하는데도 문화제국주의라는 부정적인 의미로 받아들여진다. 대부분 기존의 연구가 이러한 소비자들의 반응에 대하여 관심을 기울이지 않은 가운데 본 연구는 다국적기업의 행태에 따라 어떻게 소비자들이 문화적 제국주의 개념을 형성하는가를 고찰한다.

광고 모델의 국적과 메시지 및 신제품 유형, 문화적 거리감이 광고 및 제품 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Model Nationalities, Message Types, New Product Types and Cultural Distances on Consumer Attitudes toward the Ads and Products)

  • 본 연구는 글로벌 소비자가 신제품 광고를 접할 때 광고와 관련된 여러 차원의 심리적 거리로 인한 상이한 해석수준에 따라 광고 태도나 제품 태도가 달라질 수 있음을 살펴보고자 하였다. 구체적으로 중국 소비자를 대상으로 하여 광고 모델의 국적(한/중)이라는 사회적 거리감, 하위해석수준의 구체적인 메시지나 상위해석수준의 추상적인 광고 메시지 유형, 점진적 신제품 혹은 혁신적 신제품과 같이 제품이 지닌 새로움의 정도에 따른 심리적 거리감에 따라 소비자의 태도가 어떻게 달라지는지 살펴보았다. 또 중국 소비자의 한국에 대한 문화적 거리감에 따라 이러한 효과가 조절되는지 확인하였다. 분석 결과, 예를 들어 한국 모델이 등장한 신제품 광고의 경우 추상적 메시지(vs 구체적 메시지)에서 광고태도 및 제품태도가 더 높게 나타났고, 중국 모델이 등장한 신제품 광고의 경우 구체적 메시지(vs 추상적 메시지)에서 태도가 더 높게 형성되었다. 추가적으로 살펴본 문화적 거리감은 이러한 효과를 조절함을 파악하였다.

소비자능력 향상을 위한 고등학교 가정과 소비자교육 수업모형 개발 연구 (The Consumer Education’s Lesson Model in High Shool’ Home Economics for the Student to improve the Consumer’s Ability)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the lesson model for high school students to improve their abilities as consumer. In the method of the research, the contents on consumer education of the 8 kinds of Home Economics textbooks are reconstructed into the areas of decision-making, financing, reasonable purchasing, and consumer citizenship. The consumer’s ability to be developed in the areas of decision-making, financing, reasonable purchasing, and consumer citizenship is set up as follows: 1) The establishment of the sound consumer morality and values, the ability of independent decision-making, the critical ability, and the problem-solving ability. 2) The ability of research on social, cultural and economic values, and the ability to estimate one’s own short-term and long-term life plan. 3) The ability of reasonable purchase. 4) The ability to participate in a consumer movement, and the ability to take good care of environment. Subsequently, 9 lesson models for the student to improve the consumer’ability are developed.

세 가지 차원의 무형적 속성이 소비자의 불확실성, 위험지각과 구매 후의 감정에 미치는 영향: 촉각욕구의 조절효과 (The Effect of a Three Dimensional Concept of Intangibility on Consumer's Uncertainty, Perceived Risk and Emotion after Purchase : The Moderating effect of Needs for Touch)

  • 본 연구는 제품과 서비스의 무형적 속성을 물리적 무형성, 일반성, 정신적 무형성 등 세 가지 차원으로 나누고, 무형성이 불확실성과 위험지각에 미치는 영향과 불확실성과 위험지각이 소비자의 구매 후의 감정인 만족과 후회에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 그리고 무형성과 불확실성 및 위험지각 관계에서 개인특성인 촉각욕구가 미치는 조절적 영향에 대해 연구하였다. 연구 결과, 정신적 무형성은 불확실성과 위험지각에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 물리적 무형성과 일반성은 불확실성과 위험지각에 영향을 주지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 불확실성은 위험지각에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 불확실성과 위험지각 모두 후회에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 만족에는 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 조절효과 연구 결과, 수단적 촉각욕구가 높은 사람일수록 무형성과 불확실성, 위험지각 사이에 미치는 영향이 높을 것이라고 예측했는데, 정신적 무형성과 위험지각 간의 가설을 제외하고 모두 통계적으로 유의하지 않았다. 이 연구 결과는 수단적 촉각욕구가 높은 사람일수록 정신적 무형성이 위험에 미치는 영향을 높게 지각한다는 점을 시사해 준다. 그리고 자기 목적적 촉각욕구가 높은 사람은 무형성과 불확실성, 위험지각 간의 영향이 없거나 수단적 촉각욕구보다 낮을 것이라고 예측했는데, 모두 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 목적없이 즐기는 욕구가 높은 소비자는 무형적 속성의 제품과 서비스에서 불확실성, 위험에 크게 영향을 받지 않는 것을 알 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 소비자가 무형적 속성의 제품이나 서비스를 탐색, 의사결정시의 불안정한 심리와 구매 후의 감정에 이르기까지 소비자의 구매 전 과정의 심리를 살펴볼 수 있었다. 그리고 촉각욕구의 성향에 따라 무형적 속성의 제품과 서비스에 대해 불확실성이나 위험을 감지하는 수준의 차이를 살펴볼 수 있어 기존의 집단세분화와는 다르게 새로운 집단세분화의 방향을 제시했다는데 연구의 의의가 있다.

초등학교 소비자교육에 관한 연구 -교육과정 및 교사의 인식과 요구를 중심으로- (A study on the consumer education in elementary schools -Focusing on the analysis of the curricula and teacher attitudes-)

  • The aim of this study is to identify needed consumer education changes through the analysis of the consumer education in elementary schools. The findings of this study are:1. The current situation of elementary school consumer education was examined through analysis of the curricula of elementary schools. 2. Teacher attitudes and perceptions toward elementary school consumer education were also examined. Although the elementary school teachers clearly understood the importance of consumer education, the problem is that a training workshop or program has not been provided for them. This deficiency needs to be addressed quickly. 3. The third part of the study consisted of an analysis of the curriculum of the 11 Teacher’s Colleges in Korea. This partof study revealed that consumer education was not systematically addressed at Teacher’s Colleges. This finding suggests that it is important to have an included with other opening lecture on consumer education, cultural subject. The content of the consumer education must be positively emphasized and applied systematically.

현대패션에 표현된 키치(Kitsch)연구 (A Study on Kitsch in Modern Fashion)

  • The purpose of this dissertation is to interpret fashion through a socio-cultural phenomenon called kitsch by understanding its aesthetic characteristics and clarifying its significance in the modern consumer society and analyzing the examples of kitsch appearing in modern fashion. The following are the arguments and conclusion of this dissertation. First kitsch has negative meanings such as aesthetic inadequacy or bad tastes implying vulgar popular tastes of faked sensations just imitating elite culture and using things indiscriminately for inferior reproduction or at best the philosophical and aesthetic category that expresses the mass of people's attitudes toward life in accepting the consumer culture of the industrial society. It started from the art of romanticism accompanied by th commercializing of art with the bourgeois society background formed in the mid-19th century. Though kitsch started to prevail following the socio-cultural changes caused by the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century it is only in the late 20th century that kitsch has come tc our everyday life and has become an object of aesthetic arguments. Second formative characteristics of kitsch appearin in fashion have a cumulative inadequate romantic pleasure-seeking satirizing and multicomplex nature. Third the socio-cultural meanings of kitsch appearing in fashion are as follows: The extension of commercialism which gratifies the pleasure-seeking mass consumers the enlargement of the aesthetic category by inclining to everyday commonplace aesthetic sense the expression of one's identity through the gratification of desire and the new aesthetics of resistance and deviance by an anti-traditional and anti-elite tendency towards the traditional society and aesthetic values.

  • Collaboration among various fields appear according to rising of snack culture, polarizing phenomenon by a point to value, consumer behavior change giving importance to direct experience, and arrival of high touch age satisfied various needs and desires of consumer. Collaboration progressed limited edition form utilizes famous artist and designer's fame to promote products and upgrade their brand image through a short period agreement. This research aims at analysis about collaboration phenomenon in collaboration manners and characteristics, and understands changed socio-cultural meaning through collaboration expressed in almost all industry for high speedy changing fashion environment. This research utilizes between theoretical study and empirical analysis. For concentrated study, research period limits from 2007 to the present time 2009. This paper's purpose is studying on the socio-cultural meaning through analysis about characteristics of the trend of collaboration expressed in contemporary fashion. This research's results are as follow as; First, common life toward aesthetic surrounding, Second, introduction of high concept, Third, the power of Homo Consmus, Forth, focusing on the intangible elements and the value. This study intends to predict change of fashion design and fashion market for complicated consumer, and present fundamental materials about fashion industry and design development of the future through consideration on concrete aspect and meaning of collaboration expressed in contemporary fashion.

Cross-cultural Service Variation: Airline Service Quality

  • Purpose - In a global economy, marketers are required to understand service quality from an international consumer viewpoint. Despite the increased need for cross-cultural research, few studies have developed service quality research international in scope. The present research aims to shed light on variations in airline service quality among international consumers. Research design, data, and methodology - Conducting crosscultural research, this study compares airline service quality variations, investigating an international consumer group and a Korean consumer group. T-test and factor analyses are applied to examine mean scores and factor structure of the airline service dimensions. Results - The results indicate there are significant differences in mean comparisons between the groups. The international consumers indicate significantly higher service perception scores than the Koreans. Further, we find that the factor structure of airline service quality diverges between the groups. The international group considers airline service quality in four dimensions, while Koreans consider it in two. Conclusions - The study sheds new light on international service variations and suggests that the field of airline service quality may differ by nations and/or cultures.

산느타리버섯 재배특성 및 기호도 조사 (Cultural characteristics and consumer acceptance of Pleurotus pulmonarius)

  • Pleurotus pulmonarius usually grows on the dead wood of deciduous trees in mid summer to early fall. The pileus color is white to tan and fruiting body is generally smaller than P. ostreatus. This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of cultivation and consumer acceptance of P. pulmonarius. The period of incubation and primordial occurrence were required about 33days, 5days in bottle cultivation repectively, and the yield was 170g/850cc bottle. In bed cultivation, the period of primordial occurrence was similar to that of bottle cultivation and the yields was $35.7{\sim}46.2kg/3.3m^2$. Taste and favor of P. pulmonarius were superior to P. oostreatus., but the appearance, color and shape, was slightly inferior to P. ostreatus.

Qualitative Research on Cultural Center Customers' Shopping Behaviors and Image Building of the Department Store

  • Department store has actively expanded cultural center services by providing a series of educational courses in order to increase customer visits, enhance customer satisfaction, and ultimately increase sales. In this study, cultural center members' shopping behaviors and image building of the department store were explored through focus group interviews. Results generated from a total of 7 focus group interviews with female cultural center members in their 30's through 60's are as follows. First, the consumer group who attends courses for their own purpose is 45 to 55 year-old female customers who are actively involved in consumption at the department store for their own clothing, food and restaurant. They are not often engaged in impulsive either group shopping for clothing. They are satisfied with class quality compared to low tuition whereas dissatisfied with busy schedule of a lecture room and lack of special discount benefits for members. Second, the other consumer group who attends courses for their children is consumers in their 30's. They are charged in shopping for clothing for their husbands, children, and themselves. They are suffering time poverty due to nurturing their children, therefore, they want to shop more in the department store on the day of class. However, expensive kids-care facilities are barriers to do it. Convenience, familiarity and center of culture are important images of the department store, developed through frequent visits of these customers. Eight implications for marketing strategies were generated based on study results.
