  • Three new polymorphic modifications were prepared by recrystallization under various conditions and characterized by DSC and X-ray crystallography. In pH 4.0 buffer at $37{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$, the polymorphic modifications showed significant differences in the dissolution rate. The dissolution rate of Mod. 4, amorphous form, was faster than that of marketed cefaclor (Mod. 1). When all modifications were stored at 52% RH, 95% RH and in silica gel desiccator, any polymorphic transformation was not observed.

  • A stoichiometric mixture of evaporating materials for $CdIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films was prepared from horizontal furnace. To obtain the single crystal thin films, $CdIn_2S_4$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by hot wall epitaxy(HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were $630^{\circ}C$ and $420^{\circ}C$, respectively. After the as-grown $CdIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films was annealed in Cd-, S-, and In-atmospheres, the origin of point defects of $CdIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films has been investigated by the photoluminescence(PL) at 10 K. The native defects of $V_{cd}$, $V_s$, $Cd_{int}$, and $S_{int}$, obtained by PL measurements were classified as a donors or acceptors type. And we concluded that the heat-treatment m the S-atmosphere converted $CdIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films to an optical p-type. Also. we confirmed that In in $CdIn_2S_4$/GaAs did not form the native defects because In in $CdIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films existed in the form of stable bonds.

To obtain the single crystal thin films, $CuInse_2$ mixed crystal was deposited on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate by the hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system. The source and substrate temperatures were $620^{\circ}C\;and\;410^{\circ}C$, respectively. The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $CuInse_2$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_{g}(T)=1.1851 eV - (8.99{\times}10^{-4} eV/K)T^2/(T+153 K)$. After the aa-grown $CuInse_2$ single crystal thin films was annealed in Cu-, Se-, and In-atmospheres, the origin of point defects of $CuInse_2$ single crystal thin films has been investigated by the photoluminescence(PL) at 10 K. Also, we confirmed that In in $CuInse_2$/GaAs did not form the native defects because In in $CuInse_2$ single crystal thin films existed in the form of stable bonds.

  • Single crystal $CuAlSe_2$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at 410$^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $CuAlSe_2$ source at $680^{\circ}C$. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence(PL) and double crystal X-ray diffraction (DCXO). The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $CuAlSe_2$ obtained from the absorpt ion spectra was wel1 described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g$(T) = 2.8382 eV - ($8.86\times10^{-4}$ eV/H)$T_2$/(T + 155K). • Single crystal $ZnIn_2S_4$ layers were grown on thoroughly etched semi-insulating GaAs(100) substrate at $450^{\circ}C$ with hot wall epitaxy (HWE) system by evaporating $ZnIn_2S_4$ source at $610^{\circ}C$. The crystalline structure of the single crystal thin films was investigated by the photoluminescence (PL) and double crystal X-ray rocking curve (DCRC). The temperature dependence of the energy band gap of the $ZnIn_2S_4$ obtained from the absorption spectra was well described by the Varshni's relation, $E_g(T)=2.9514\;eV-(7.24{\times}10^{-4}\;eV/K)T^2/(T+489\;K)$. After the as-grown $ZnIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films were annealed in Zn-, S-, and In-atmospheres, the origin of point defects of $ZnIn_2S_4$ single crystal thin films has been investigated by the photoluminescence (PL) at 10 K. • The $p-CdIn_2Te_4$ single crystal was grown in the three-stage vertical electric furnace by using Bridgman method. The quality of the grown crystal has been investigated by the x-ray diffraction and the photoluminescence measurements. From the Photoluminescence spectra of the as-grown $CdIn_2Te_4$ crystal and the various heat-treated crystals, the $(D^{o},X)$ emission was found to be the dominant intensity in the photoluminescence spectrum of the $CdIn_2Te_4:Cd$, while the $(A^{o},X)$ emission completely disappeared in the $CdIn_2Te_4:Cd$. However, the $(A^{o},X)$ emission in the photoluminescence spectrum of the $CdIn_2Te_4:Te$ was the dominant intensity like an as-grown $p-CdIn_2Te_4$ crystal. These results indicated that the $(D^{o},X)$ is associated with $V_{Te}$ acted as donor and that the $(A^{o},X)$ emission is related to $V_{Cd}$ acted as acceptor, respectively. The $p-CdIn_2Te_4$ crystal was found to be obviously converted into the n-type after annealing in the Cd atmosphere. The origin of $(D^{o},\;A^{o})$ emission and its TO Phonon replicas is related to the interaction between donors such as $V_{Te}$ or $Cd_{int}$, and accepters such as $V_{Cd}$ or $Te_{int}$. Also, the In in the $CdIn_2Te_4$ was confirmed not to form the native defects because it existed in the stable form of bonds.

  • Synthetic citrines were grown by hydrothermal method. For the establishment of grown conditions of large citrine, various types and/or amount of nutrients, seed orientations, mineralizers, colorants and temperature gradients were studied. For the evaluation of the quality of as grown citrine, color tone, crystal form, macro-and micro-defects were observed and crystal structure and absorption spectrums were analyzed. As a result, large sized citrines of 205mm L x 58mm W x 35mm T with excellent color tone and minium defects were grown.

  • Ultra precision cutting should be satisfied with two conditions of Mirror Like and shape grade, and especially Mirror Like depends on surface roughness. In this study, in order to develop Mirror Cutting for Al alloy, this was done with edge form of single crystal diamond tool divided into R type and S type. Surface roughness machined by S type tool is more satisfactory than by R type tool, being the lowest value of 13.8nm. In addition, Mirror surface can reach above 90% of reflection rate by both R type and S type tool, but machined surface by R type tool has much more fine fracture portions rather than by S type tool. Even though feed rate decreases from 5.mu.m to 1.mu.m, surface roughness doesn't show improvement.

  • The electrolytic reduction process and the electrorefining process, which are being developed at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), are to generate molten waste salts such as LiCI salt and LiCI-KCI eutectic salt, respectively. Our goal in waste salt management is to minimize a total waste generation and fabricate a very lowleaching waste form such as a ceramic waste form. Zeolite has been known to one of the most desirable media to immobilize waste salt, which is water soluble and easily radiolyzed. Zeolite can be also used to the removal of fission products from the spent waste salt. Molten LiCI salt is mixed with zeolite A at $650^{\circ}C$ to form a salt-loaded zeolite, and then thermally treated in above $900^{\circ}C$ to become an immobilized product with crystal phase of $Li_{8}Cl_{2}$-Sodalite. In this work, a crystal phase changes of immobilization medium, zeolite, during immobilization of molten LiCI salt using zeolite A is introduced.
