TBM disc cutter ring type adaptability and rock-breaking efficiency: Numerical modeling and case study

  • This study focused on understanding the relationship between the design of a tunnel boring machine disc cutter ring and its rock-breaking efficiency, as well as the applicable conditions of different cutter ring types. The discrete element method was used to establish a numerical model of the rock-breaking process using disc cutters with different ring types to reveal the development of rock damage cracks and variation in cutter penetration load. The calculation results indicate that a sharp-edged (V-shaped) disc cutter penetrates a rock mass to a given depth with the lowest load, resulting in more intermediate cracks and few lateral cracks, which leads to difficulty in crack combination. Furthermore, the poor wear resistance of a conventional V-shaped cutter can lead to an exponential increase in the penetration load after cutter ring wear. In contrast, constant-cross-section (CCS) disc cutters have the highest quantity of crack extensions after penetrating rock, but also require the highest penetration loads. An arch-edged (U-shaped) disc cutter is more moderate than the aforementioned types with sufficient intermediate and lateral crack propagation after cutting into rock under a suitable penetration load. Additionally, we found that the cutter ring wedge angle and edge width heavily influence cutter rock-breaking efficiency and that a disc cutter with a 16 to 22 mm edge width and 20° to 30° wedge angle exhibits high performance. Compared to V-shaped and U-shaped cutters, the CCS cutter is more suitable for soft or medium-strength rocks, where the penetration load is relatively small. Additionally, two typical case studies were selected to verify that replacing a CCS cutter with a U-shaped or optimized V-shaped disc cutter can increase cutting efficiency when encountering hard rocks.

운영중인 도로터널의 측벽하부 숏크리트 보강에 의한 단면확대 (Section enlargement by reinforcement of shotcrete lining on the side wall of operating road tunnel)

  • 도심지내 기존터널을 단면확대 시공하는 경우, 터널내 교통흐름을 유지하기 위하여 '${\sqcap}$'형태의 프로텍터를 설치한다. 터널내 프로텍터를 설치하면 터널 측벽하부에서 작업공간이 협소하여 록볼트 시공이 불가능해 질 수가 있다. 본 연구는 터널의 측벽하부에서 록볼트를 시공하지 않고 숏크리트만으로 보강하여 터널단면을 확대된 할 경우, 터널구조물의 안정성과 보강되는 최적의 숏크리트 두께를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 위하여 3차선 NATM 도로터널을 4차선 NATM 도로터널로 확대 시공하는 경우에 대하여 수치해석을 수행하였다. 수치해석결과, 4차선 NATM 도로터널의 측벽하부에서 록볼트를 시공하지 않은 경우의 천단변위와 상반 내공변위는 록볼트를 시공한 경우와 거의 유사하였다. 다만, 하반 내공변위 및 숏크리트 응력은 록볼트를 시공하지 않은 경우가 록볼트를 시공한 경우보다 최대 0.57 mm 및 최대 1,300 kN/$m^2$ 크게 나타났다. 터널 측벽하부에서 록볼트를 시공하지 않아 추가 발생한 하반 내공변위와 숏트리트 응력은 25 cm인 기본 숏크리트 두께의 20%(25 cm${\rightarrow}$30 cm)만 증가시켜도 저감시킬 수 있다.

  • After measuring actual stress by two measurements(Dynamic Strain Meter, Histogram Recorder) on truss rail road bridge, we could perform time history analysis by 3-D beam element method on modelling bridge. And then, after analyzing bridge structure in static by 3-D modelling, we estimated degree of fatigue damage in main member, secondary member of tie zone, cutting area of base metal cross section for confirming the result. In case that the simulated stress is carried out on modeling bridge, most of those simulation mainly is performed by main members. But in real bridge fatigue damage problems generally caused by junctions, connections, joints in which especially local stress is activated. Therefore, in this paper actual stress on critical area was estimated through the analysis result by simulation. With this study, we can estimate the degree of fatigue damage from a safety point of view and comparative accuracy.

티타늄과 비귀금속 합금에 중간층으로 적용한 Au bonding agent의 금속-도재 결합에 대한 평가 (Evaluation of Bond Strength in cp-Ti and Non-precious Metal-Ceramic System Using a Gold Bonding Agent)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of using a Au bonding agent applied on cp-Ti and nonprecious metal-gold-ceramic system. Metallic frameworks(diameter: 5mm, height: 20mm)(N=56, n=7per group) cast in Ni-Cr alloy, Co-Cr alloy and cp-Ti were obtained using acrylic templates and airborne particle abraded with $110{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide. Au bonding agent was applied on wash opaque firing as intermediate layer. SEM and SEM/EDS line profile were performed on the cutting the cross-section of the metal substrate-porcelain with intermediate Au coating. Groups were tested using shear bond strength(SBS) testing at 0.5mm/min. The mean SBS values for the ceramic-Au layer-metal combination were significantly higher than those ceramic-metal combination. While ceramic-Au layer-cp-Ti combinations failed to increase bond strength instead of using a titanium bonding porcelain. The appication of using Au intermediate layer significantly improve the bond strength combination with metal-ceramic system.

$Annubar^{(R)}$형 차압유량계 형상 개선에 따른 유량 특성 연구 (A Study on Flow Rate Characteristics of a $Annubar^{(R)}$ Type Differential Pressure Flow Meter with a Shape Improvement)

  • The inner structure of the triangular separate bar (TSB) was improved to enhance the productivity of the TSB flow meter by simplifying the machining process for making the flow meter. The cross section of upstream and downstream pressure chamber in the TSB was changed from triangle to circle, which make it possible to substitute the wire cutting by drilling in the process of machining the pressure chamber. The flow rate characteristics of the flow meters was calibrated with a laminar flow meter. Six kinds of flow meters whose diameters of pressure tap for measuring pressure of both upsteam and downstream pressure chamber were different one another were made. The effects of the pressure tap diameter on the flow rate characteristics of the TSB flow meter was little. The mass flow rate characteristics of the flow meters with increasing a non-dimensional parameter which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters and atmospheric pressure shows nearly linear relationship with a correlation coefficient of R=0.998.

  • Exhaust system by reinforcement of environment regulation came to the foe study necessity. And Exhaust system has necessary to increase the engine performance and silence. From this cause, Automobile has significantly considered production expense. this study makes process for checking the characteristics about Exhaust variable valve within muffler. Variable valve might reduce the baffle within muffler, It was possible to remove the front muffler. Therefor, To miniaturize a size of muffler might be increased by performance through cost-cutting effect and controling of back pressure. Because the Study on Variable valve installed within muffler, to measure the real data was hardly resulted one of the assignments. From manufactured conduct device, might measure data one of piece which was up-graded of problem. Considering to these point, stressed pressure distribution has analyzed on cross section, floating characteristics about velocity distribution around variable valve using analysis as computational fluid dynamics of Ansys with completed measurement data.

알루미늄 고정 스크롤 열간 단조공정의 금형 파괴 원인 및 실용적 대책 (Reason of Die Fracture in Hot Forging of an Aluminum Fixed Scroll and Its Practical Measures)

  • In this study, the reason of die fracture occurring in hot forging of an aluminum fixed scroll was studied, based on experiments and finite element predictions. The material is assumed to be rigid-viscoplastic, and the die is rigid for the finite element predictions. The stress in the tension at the wrap root is known to cause brittle fracture, and the increase in the tensile stress is owing to the unbalanced filling of material into the die cavities between both sides of the warp. Based on the empirical and numerical achievements, the effects of geometrical parameters of the material on the die fracture were examined to find practical measures for elongated die life. It has been shown from the parametric study that the material with the optimized trapezoidal cross-section, which can be easily made during cutting or the optimized cylindrical billet with its eccentric placement in the die cavity, can considerably reduce the magnitude of the tensile stress around the die corner fractured, indicating that economical manufacturing with reduced number of stages and elongated die life can be realized at once using the optimized practical initial material.

기존선에서 가설교량 시공에 따른 열차의 주행안전성 평가 (Evaluation of Train Running Safety During Construction of Temporary Bridge on Existing Railway)

  • 선로하부를 굴착한 후의 가설교량 설치공법은 이동형 가로보를 갖는 공법으로 시공시 전차선 차단 및 레일절단이 불필요하고 열차운행 횟수가 많은 복선부에서도 적용 가능한 공법이다. 본 논문에서는 공사구간이 곡선부(R400)구간으로 가설교량 공법 시공 후의 변위특성을 검토하기 위해 변위계를 설치하고 열차 통과 시의 윤중 횡압을 계측하여 곡선부(R400)의 주행안전성 검토를 평가하였다. 측정결과 가설교량을 통과시 열차종별 윤중과 횡압의 최대값은 각각 국외 궤도성능평가 기준의 51%, 81% 수준으로 분석되어 윤중, 횡압 발생에 따른 궤도 안전성 측면에서는 큰 문제가 없을 것으로 판단된다. 또한 주행안전성의 평가기준이 되는 최대 탈선계수와 최대 윤중감소율은 열차종별에 관계없이 허용한계치의 49% 수준으로 그 기준치에는 못 미치는 것으로 나타나 열차 통과시의 주행안전성 확보에는 큰 문제가 없는 것을 알 수 있었다.

근관치료 기구의 기계 형태적 특성과 이에 따른 임상적 영향 고찰 (Mechanical and geometric features of endodontic instruments and its clinical effect)

  • 서론: 이 문헌의 목적은 Nickel-titanium (NiTi) 전동 파일의 기계적 형태적 양상과 이에 의한 임상적 연관성을 고찰하는 것이다. NiTi 전동 파일은 다양한 고유의 형태로 시장에 소개되었고 경쟁 상품에 비해서 근관 성형에 더 나은 능력을 가졌다고 주장하고 있다. 본론: 이 문헌에서는 NiTi 전동 파일의 형태(예. 팁, 테이퍼, helical angle 등)와 파일의 임상 적용 성과 사이의 가능한 상관관계를 다음과 같이 다룬다; - NiTi 전동 파일의 파절 양상 - 비활성 파일팁과 glide path - 파일 경사도와 임상 효과 - 파일 횡단면적과 임상 효과 - 열처리와 표면 특성 - Screw-in 효과와 치근 상아질의 유지 - Screw-in 효과를 줄이기 위한 고안 결론: 이상의 내용을 바탕으로, 임상가는 다양한 NiTi 전동 기구를 사용함에 있어 임상 상황에 적절한 장점을 고려하여 선택하고 사용할 수 있는 도움을 받을 수 있을 것이다.

Processing and Mechanical Properties of Mullite Fiber / Fe Composite

  • The high-speed steel (shorten as HSS) consists of Fe and several kinds of transition metal carbides. The cutting tools or wear-resistant materials made from HSS experience relatively high thermal shock because a coolant such as water or oil is flowed over the surface of heated HSS. The purpose of this research is to increase the hardness, strength, fracture toughness and thermal shock resistance of HSS. A possible strategy is to incorporate a hard ceramic material with high strength in HSS matrix. This paper describes the processing, microstructure and mechanical properties of the oriented unidirectional mullite fiber/HSS composite. The unidirectional mullite fibers of 10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ diameter were dispersed by the ultrasonic irradiation of 38 kHz in an ethylenglycol suspension containing HSS powder of 11${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ median size. The dried green composites with 4-68 vol% fibers were hot-pressed for 2h at 100$0^{\circ}C$ in Ar atmosphere under a pressure of 39 MPa. The higher density was achieved in the composite with a lower content of fibers. The oriented unidirectional fibers were well dispersed in the HSS matrix. The average distance between the center of fibers in the cross section was close to the value calculated from the fiber fraction. No reaction occurred at the interfaces between HSS and mullite fibers in the composites. The composite with 13.6 vol% fibers showed 100 MPa of four point flexural strength at room temperature. The thermal expansion of composite with heating was influenced by the orientation of mullite fibers.
