  • Loosely coupled properties of SOA(Service Oriented Architecture) services do not guarantee that service applications always work properly. Service errors may also influence other services of SOA. These characteristics adversely affect software reliability. Therefore, it is a challenge to effectively manage system change and errors for operating services normally. In this study, we propose a SOA based framework using AOP(Aspect Oriented Programming) for reliable service applications. AOP provides a way to manipulate cross-cutting concerns such as logging, security and reliability and these concerns can be added to applications through weaving process. We define a service specification and an aspect specification for this framework. This framework also includes service provider, requester, repository, platform, manager, and aspect weaver to handle changes and exceptions of applications. Independent Exception Handler is stored to exhibited external Aspect Service Repository. When exception happened, Exception Handler is linked dynamically according to aspect rule that is defined in aspect specification and offer function that handle exception alternate suitable service in systematic error situation. By separating cross-cutting concerns independently, we expect that developer can concentrate on core service implementation and reusability, understanding, maintainability increase. Finally, we have implemented a prototype system to demonstrate the feasibility of our framework in case study.

  • In the construction industry, composite structures have revolutionized traditional design principles, opening innovative possibilities. The Concrete Encased - Concrete Filled Steel Tubular (CE-CFST) column stands out as a distinctive composite structure, offering structural stability and resilience for various engineering applications. Comprising Reinforced Concrete (RC) and Concrete Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) components, CE-CFST columns are valued for their inherent properties, including ductility and rigidity, CE-CFST is commonly used in the construction of bridges, high-rise buildings, and more. This article aims to provide a concise overview of the evolutionary development of CE-CFST columns and their performance in structural applications. Through a comprehensive review, the study delves into the behaviour of CE-CFST columns under different scenarios. It examines the influences of key parameters such as size, infills, cross section, failure causes, and design codes on the performance of CE-CFST columns, highlighting their enhanced functionality and future potential. Moreover, the review meticulously examines previous applications of CE-CFST columns, offering insights into their practical implementation.

  • The cross-flow fans are widely used in various applications, due to their large capacity of mass flow and the size compactness. The flow fields of the cross-flow fan is, however, complex and it has many design parameters. Thus the general design guide has not sufficiently established yet, and the design strategies of cross-flow fans have been based on experiments. In the present study, the cross-flow fan performance and its two-dimensional flow characteristics are numerically analyzed by using the STAR-CD. The simulation is done by varying the several design parameters such as impeller blade shapes, the gap between the stabilizer and impeller. The computational results are compared with the experimental data at the fan outlet region. Finally some helpful guides for the optimum design of the cross-flow fan are proposed.

  • With the rapid growth of multimedia data, research on cross-media feature learning has significance in many applications, such as multimedia search and recommendation. Existing methods are sensitive to noise and edge information in multimedia data. In this paper, we propose a semi-supervised method for cross-media feature learning by means of $L_{2,q}$ norm to improve the performance of cross-media retrieval, which is more robust and efficient than the previous ones. In our method, noise and edge information have less effect on the results of cross-media retrieval and the dynamic patch information of multimedia data is employed to increase the accuracy of cross-media retrieval. Our method can reduce the interference of noise and edge information and achieve fast convergence. Extensive experiments on the XMedia dataset illustrate that our method has better performance than the state-of-the-art methods.

  • In this paper, we first survey cross-layer architectures for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) and Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs). Afterwards, we propose a novel cross-layer architecture for QoS provisioning in clustered and multi-hop based WMSNs. The proposed architecture provides support for multiple network-based applications on a single sensor node. For supporting multiple applications on a single node, an area in memory is reserved where each application can store its network protocols settings. Furthermore, the proposed cross-layer architecture supports heterogeneous flows by classifying WMSN traffic into six traffic classes. The architecture incorporates a service differentiation module for QoS provisioning in WMSNs. The service differentiation module defines the forwarding behavior corresponding to each traffic class. The forwarding behavior is primarily determined by the priority of the traffic class, moreover the service differentiation module allocates bandwidth to each traffic class with goals to maximize network utilization and avoid starvation of low priority flows. The proposal incorporates the congestion detection and control algorithm. Upon detection of congestion, the congested node makes an estimate of the data rate that should be used by the node itself and its one-hop away upstream nodes. While estimating the data rate, the congested node considers the characteristics of different traffic classes along with their total bandwidth usage. The architecture uses a shared database to enable cross-layer interactions. Application's network protocol settings and the interaction with the shared database is done through a cross-layer optimization middleware.

  • Design of manufacturing process, in general, facilitates the creation of new process that may potentially harm the workers. Design of safety-guaranteed manufacturing process is, therefore, very important since it determines the ultimate outcomes of manufacturing activities involving safety of workers. This study discusses application of discrimination information (cross entropy) to safety assessment of manufacturing processes. The idea is based on the general principles of design and their applications. An example of Cartesian robotic movement is given.

Two-associate class designs based upon group divisible, triangular, and extended group divisible association schemes obtained using the general methods are also given. Tables of designs for p$\leq$24 are also provided.

  • Consider the problem of estimating the underlying regression function from a set of noisy data which is contaminated by a long tailed error distribution. There exist several robust smoothing techniques and these are turned out to be very useful to reduce the influence of outlying observations. However, no matter what kind of robust smoother we use, we should choose the smoothing parameter and relatively less attention has been made for the robust bandwidth selection method. In this paper, we adopt the idea of robust location parameter estimation technique and propose the robust cross validation score functions.
