  • I obtained result like these to practice accommodation test using Spherical Add method and Cross cylinder lens method. The 242 eyes(121 persons) in test was the young and middle age people and their age was from 19 to 41. 1. Using Spherical Add, I tested accommodation. The twenties's limits of accommodation were 9~13 Diopter, and thirties to fourties's limits of accommodation were 6~8.5 Diopter. 2. Using Cross cylinder lens in the test of accommodation twenties's average accommodation limits were appeared 6.13 Diopter~10.13 Diopter, thirties average accommodation limits were 5.75 Diopter~8.75 Diopter and fourties's average accommodation limits were 4.38 Diopter~7.25 Diopter. All men women have had more good accommodation of the horizontal direction than the vertical direction. 3. Using Spherical Add method and Cross cylinder lens method, the results of accommodation were shown like these. Accommodation that measured with spherical add method was more big than cross cylinder's accommodation measuring method. Finally I found the fact accommodation decreases as age goes.

  • In this study, It obtained results that the exact spherical diopter to practice test by using Cross cyliner lens and Red Green Card method. In the test used to the 1750 eyes of middle and high school students. The results was as follows ; 1. Using Cross cylinder lens method, I tested a exact spherical diopter after accommodation. At -0.25 Dptr the ratio of spherical Dptr error limits were measured as 58% and at -0.75 Dptr they were oppeared as 1%, at -1.00 Dptr they are not measured. In this method, the error limits of exact spherical Dptr was 91% from 0 Dptr to -0.25 Dptr. 2. Using Red Green Card method, they were measured as 45% at -0.25 Dptr. and measured as 20% at -0.50 Dptr. From the result of these test, Cross cylinder lens method was a better detailed method than Red Green Card method.

  • A numerical method using FLUENT code was employed to investigate fluid drag and lift forces on a cylinder in a group of circular cylinders, subjected to a uniform cross flow. The cylinders can be arranged in tandem or in a staggered arrangements relative to the free stream flow. A vortex street behind the cylinder pairs or jets between the cylinders forms according to the arrangements. Vibration on a cylinder can occurs due to vortex shedding, fluid-elastic stiffness and wake galloping. The flow is first investigated and then the forces acting on the cylinder are calculated. The lift and drag forces on an elastically mounted cylinder in the wake of an upstream fixed cylinder arise from the mean flow plus velocity and pressure gradients in the wake. The analytical results of two staggered cylinder were compared with the existing experimental ones for validation of the present method. The analytical results of the forces were in good agreement with the experimental ones. The present method can be used for the analysis of the fluid induced vibration where the group of circular cylinders are subjected to a cross flow.

  • The scattering characteristics are analysed for the dielectric cylinder with arbitrary cross section partially covered by thin conductors. The integro differential equations consistant with boundary conditions of conductor and dielectric boundaries are derived by the equivalence principle. They are transformed into matrix equations by moment method. The circular dielectric cylinder covered by conductors at the upper and bottom side of the cylinder is chosen for the numerical example. Current distributions on conductors and scattering cross section by the cylinder are computed for incident wave perpendicular to the conductor plane.

  • This paper presents a method to measure the position and orientation of a Cylindrical Object(unknown the eiameter and length) lying on a floor, using a camera. The two extreme cross section of the cylinder will be viewed as distorted ellipese or circular are, while its limb edge will be shown as two straight lines. The diameter of the cylinder is determined from the geometric properties of the two straight lines, which in turn provides information regarding the length of the cylinder. From the 3-dimensional measurement, the 3D coordinates of the center points of the two extreme cross sections are determined to give the position and orientation of the cylinder. This method is used for automated pick-and-place operations of cylinder, such as sheet coils, or drums in warehouses.

  • The acattering characteristics by the TE incident wave are analysed for its dielectric cylinder with arbitrary cross section partially covered by thin conductors. The integro differential equations consistent with boundary conditions of conductors and dielectric boundaries are derived by the equivalence principle. They are transformed into matrix equations by moment method. The rectangular dielectric ctlinder partially coverd by conductors at the upper and bottom side of the cylinder is chosen for the numerical example. Current distributions on conductors and sacttring cross sections by the cylinder are computed for the TE incident perpendicular to the conductor plane.

  • In this paper, electromagnetic wave scattering from a bianisotropicaly coated cylinder is formulated by using wave functions for bianisotropic media and boundary-value method. The cross section of the cylinder is made of a conducting core, a lossless dielectric layer which is both electrically magnetically bianisotropic, and a bianisotropic impedance sheet and a different uniaxial bianisotrpic coating. The solutions to arbitrary polarization angles are presented in two-dimensional. This paper presents and exact solution to the problem of scattering by a long composite circular cylinder using the boundary method. The validity of this solution is verified by comparing numerical results with those in literature. The numerical results for various geometrical and electrical parameters on bistatic scattering cross-section are presented.

  • In this study, to investigate in-cylinder tumble or swirl intake flow of a gasoline engine, the flow characteristics were examined with opening control valve (OCV) and several swirl control valves (SCV) which intensify intake flow through steady flow experiment, and also turbulent characteristics of in-cylinder flow field were investigated by 2-frame cross-correlation particle image velocimetry (PIV) method. In the investigation of intake turbulent characteristics using PIV method, the different flow characteristics were showed according to OCV or SCV figures. The OCV or SCV installed engine had higher vorticity and turbulent kinetic energy than a baseline engine, especially around the wall and lower part of the cylinder. Above all, SCV B type was superior to the others. About energy dissipation and reynolds shear stress distribution, a baseline engine had larger loss than OCV or SCV installed one because flow impinged on the cylinder wall. It should be concluded, from what has been said above, as swirl component was added to existing tumble flow adequately, it was confirmed that turbulent intensity was enlarged, flow energy was conserved effectively through the experiment. In other words, there is a suggestion that flow characteristics as these affected to in-cylinder combustion positively.

  • A computational investigation of the effect of the electromagnetic force(or Lorentz force) on the flow behavior around a circular cylinder, a typical model of bluff bodies, is conducted. Two-dimensional unsteady flow computation for $Re=10^2$ is carried out using a numerical method of finite difference approximation in a curvilinear body-fitted coordinate system by solving the momentum equations including the Lorentz force as a body force. The effect of the spatial variations of the Lorentz forcing region and forcing direction along the cylinder circumference is investigated. The numerical results show that the Lorentz force can effectively suppress the flow separation and oscillation of the lift force of the circular cylinder cross-flow, leading to the reduction of the drag.
