조선시대 규표의 대형화와 횡량의 역할 (THE ROLE OF A CROSS-BAR AND THE ENLARGEMENT OF A GNOMON IN JOSEON DYNASTY)

  • 동아시아에서 규표는 가장 전통적인 천문의기 중 하나였다. 그럼에도 불구하고 고전적 규표는 표의 수직 설치와 유지가 어렵고, 눈금의 시작점이 모호하였으며, 무엇보다도 태양의 표 그림자가 퍼져 관측의 정밀성이 떨어졌다. 이러한 고전적 규표의 단점을 해결하고자 하는 노력의 결과물로 13세기에 횡량형 규표가 개발되었다(민병희 등, 2011). 횡량형 규표는 영부를 사용하여 선명한 횡량 그림자를 얻었다. 영부를 통해 얻은 횡량 그림자는 예리하여 관측의 모호성이 없으며, 동시에 태양의 중심 위치를 관측하는 최적의 천문의기이었다. 대규표는 횡량을 설치하였는데, 이 횡량의 크기는 길이 6자(124.2 cm), 직경 3치(6.21 cm)이었다. 표 기둥 위에 횡량을 올린 것을 얼이라고 하고, 이 얼을 수직으로 설치하는 것이 횡량형 규표의 핵심이었다. 삼점현추법을 사용하여 얼을 규에 수직으로 세울 수 있었다. 삼점현추법을 사용하기 위해 횡량은 길이 5치(10.35 cm), 직경 2푼(4.14 mm)의 철사 3개를 이용하고 있다. 삼점현추법은 단지 횡량을 정렬하는데 만 필요한 것이 아니고, 횡량을 점검하고 진단하는데도 활용되었다. 횡량의 개발은 태양 중심의 그림자길이를 측정하는 천문학적 이점과 더불어 규표의 대형화를 가능하게 하였다. 규표의 적절한 건설 공정과 삼점현추법을 적용하면 이상적으로는 높이에 무관하게 얼을 수직하게 설치할 수 있었기 때문이다. 얼의 크기가 높아질수록 결과적으로 눈금의 분해능을 증가시킬 수 있기 때문에(이용삼 등, 2006) 관측의기의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있었다.

스테이터의 형태에 따른 Cross형 초음파 회전모터의 구동특성 (Driving Characteristics of the Cross Type Ultrasonic Rotary Motor Dependent on Shape of the Stator)

  • This paper studied Rotary type ultrasonic motor which has cross type stator. The stator consists of hollowed cross type metal which has four piezoelectric ceramics on the ends of cross bars. When two harmonic voltages which have 90$^{\circ}$ phase difference given to ceramics, the elliptical motion was generated in the inside tips. Inside tips are contact with rotor and these elliptical motions are rotate the rotor The finite element analysis was used to optimize the dimension and displacement of the stator. And the analyzed results were compared with the experimental results of the motor. As results, the speed and the torque of motor was increased by increasing width of the cross bar. And the speed and torque o( motor was not influenced to length of cross bar. The speed and torque was linearly increased by increasing voltage. The maximum torque was generated when the motor fabricated length of cross bar and width of ceramics in the ratio of 1:2.

  • Cowl cross bar, a component of automotive cockpit module, has been manufactured by using welding processes of several tube parts with different diameters. However, in order to reduce costs and increase the quality, it is required to develop a new production method to manufacture the cowl cross bar as one-piece In this study, therefore, eliminating the welding process, tube drawing process which is one of metal forming processes was designed by using combined drawing technique. In addition, the selectable range of area reduction ratio was defined as a design guideline and the designed process sequence was verified by finite element analysis.

  • Two roll straightener showed the remarkable improvement in straightness betterment of the bar compared with other types of straightener. So, in this study we designed a two-cross straightener curvature for the straightness improvement of a bar and contact sections with respect to the variation of the gap between two-cross roll using nonlinear contact analysis. The Displacement in terms of a intersection angle between roll and bar was predicted on with the effect of a straightness and plastic deformation behaviors of the bar according to the roll drive of a two cross-roll straightener.

  • The cowl cross bar of an automobile is a frame component that is installed inside the cockpit module to provide a guide surface, to which functional components for electricity and air condition are attached. In the recent years, the geometries of cowl cross bars are getting more complex in order to meet the demands of a wide variety of embedded functional components and the reduced weight of frame parts with enhanced mechanical and noise/vibration characteristics. There for, welding processes between tubes with different diameters are widely conducted while the welded parts are experiencing various problems such as undermined appearance, low production efficiency and poor mechanical characteristics. Therefore, this paper seeks to develop an one-piece forming process which eliminate welding process for the cowl cross bar by applying the tube drawing process. However, it was predicted that a conventional tube drawing can not be applied directly to the current part since the area reduction ratio of the drawing process reaches 51.7% which exceeds the general limiting value. Therefore, in this study, a combined drawing process which adds a compressive force to a tensile force of the conventional drawing process was proposed and 2-stage drawing process was designed by using CAE analyses. In addition, drawing tryouts were carried out by using the manufactured combined drawing machine in order to verify the designed process.

Investigation of bar parameters occurred by cross-shore sediment transport

  • Cross-shore sediment transport is very important factor in the design of coastal structures, and the beach profile is mainly affected by a number of parameters, such as wave height and period, beach slope, and the material properties of the bed. In this study cross-shore sediment movement was investigated using a physical model and various offshore bar geometric parameters were determined by the resultant erosion profile. The experiments on cross- shore sediment transport carried out in a laboratory wave channel for initial base slopes of 1/8, 1/10 and 1/15. Using the regular waves with different deep-water wave steepness generated by a pedal-type wave generator, the geometrical of sediment transport rate and considerable characteristics of beach profiles under storm conditions and bar parameters affecting on-off shore sediment transport are investigated for the beach materials with the medium diameter of $d_{50}$=0.25, 0.32, 0.45, 0.62 and 0.80 mm. Non-dimensional equations were obtained by using linear and non-linear regression methods through the experimental data and were compared with previously developed equations in the literature. The results have shown that the experimental data fitted well to the proposed equations with respect to the previously developed equations.

  • The mechanical integrity of generator stator windings is one of the critical point because the electric power is generated and conducted to power system through these windings. To cool down the heat emitted from generator winding during its operation, a majority of generators use de-mineralized water characterized by high cooling efficiency. Contrary to such the excellent cooling efficiency, however, the damaged bar insulations attributed to the absorption of cooling water in the generator stator winding lead to highly time- and cost consuming efforts as well as to service deterioration due to unexpected forced outage of generator. It is described that the new design of water absorption sensor using cross capacitance for generator in power plant in order to increase the reliability of water absorption diagnostics for generator stator bar insulation.

  • The use of aluminum parts in automobile structuraI applications has increased in an effort to reduce the weight of cars and hence improve fuel economy. But Aluminum bar, I-beam and channels need other processes to vary the cross section in the axial direction. Thus, applications of these parts are limited by high cost. If the cross section of the part is variable by using only extrusion, application of extruded bar, I-beam and channels will increase in the Aluminum industries. In this paper, we propose the variable-shape extrusion process which can control the thickness of Aluminum bar. And we can calculate the speed of center ram by varying the cross section in the extrusion to control the thickness of Aluminum bar.
