This study provides a basic data necessary to design a facility of smoke management after calculating the critical velocity of the gradient scale model tunnel and reviewing its adequacy to establish an optimum disaster prevention system for a road tunnel at fire. The experiment is carried out by using Froude scaling to a scale model which is about 1/29 as big as the real tunnel, and its critical velocity calculation is calculated to the 0-2% gradient of the tunnel. The result shows that the higher the gradient is, the stronger the critical velocity, but that it doesn't affect the critical velocity so much when the gradient is less 2%. In addition, this result is studied in comparison with the results done by other researchers to review the adequacy of the critical velocity.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of critical thinking disposition and self-esteem to self-leadership in nursing students. Methods : In this study, 273 data was collected from nursing students of K-university in South Korea from Sep. 2015 to Nov. 2015, and the collected data was analyzed using SPSS 22.0 Statistics Program. Results : The results showed that both of critical thinking disposition and self-efficacy according to school year are significant to self-esteem. It was found that critical thinking disposition, self-esteem and self-leadership has a positive correlation. Critical thinking disposition and self-esteem were predictors of self-leadership with 46% of influence. Conclusions : The nursing training program needs to be developed to promote critical thinking and self-esteem in the nursing curriculum, so that the nursing students can demonstrate the ability as a nursing leader in the various fields of clinical practice and health care.
Purpose: Clinical decision-making carried out by nurses is a complex process that influences the quality of care provided and various patient outcomes. This study examined the relationship between critical thinking disposition and clinical decision-making abilities in home health advanced practice nurses. Method: The study had a non-experimental correlational design. Data were collected from 100 home health advanced practice nurses in 20 hospitals. Results: The mean critical thinking disposition score was $3.69{\pm}.39$ out of 5 and the mean score for clinical decision-making abilities was $3.48{\pm}.22$ out of 5. In this correlation analysis, a significant positive correlation (r=.58, p<.001) was found between critical thinking disposition and clinical decision-making abilities of home health advanced practice nurses. Conclusion: In order to improve the clinical decision-making ability of home health advanced practice nurses, we need to improve their critical thinking disposition. In order to make this change, appropriate training program are needed to increase the critical thinking disposition and clinical decision-making abilities of home health advanced practice nurses.
The aim of this research is to develop a 'program which improves critical thinking' to improve elementary school students' mathematical thinking, and investigate the effect of program by applying and verifying the program. In order to achieve the objective, the author determined the factors of critical thinking capabilities matched to the discipline of mathematics, and accordingly designed relevant programs and test questions for critical thinking skills which contributes to improving the critical thinking of elementary school students, and thus applied the program the developed program of improving the critical thinking to both preliminary and main experiments, which verified the effects of the test method. The following results have been acquired through this research : In the preliminary inspection that this researcher has developed, it was able to predict that 'the program which improves critical thinking' would have a positive influence on the students' critical thinking. In the main experiment which was performed after modifying and supplementing it, the result showed that the program had a positive influence on the students' critical thinking.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a Critical Pathway for Uterine Artery Embolization patients. Method: There were 6 steps that were taken. Step 1 was selecting a diagnosis, and Step 2 was organizing a development team consisting of 7 experts. Step 3 analyzed the medical records, and Step 4 drew up a preliminary Critical Pathway. Step 5 tested the clinical validity of the preliminary Critical Pathway, and Step 6 developed the final Critical Pathway. Result: The contents of the medical practices observed in the medical records were investigated in seven areas: monitoring/assessment, treatment, medication, diet, activity, consults, and education/discharge plan; and a total of 73 items was identified. The validity of the 73 items was examined by a group of specialists. 68 items were adopted, 4 items revised, 1 item removed, and 1 item was added. Using the results, a preliminary Critical Pathway was drawn up. According to the results from examining the clinical validity of the preliminary Critical Pathway with five patients for five weeks, 3 items which showed discrepancy were revised and another 3 items were added. Then, the final Critical Pathway was completed. Conclusion: This Critical Pathway needs to be clinically applied and continuously to measure its effects in terms of the length of stay, cost.effectiveness, and the patients' and staffs' satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to develope a critical pathway for the chemotherapy of non-small cell lung cancer patients and to identify its effects after implementation. Critical pathway was developed through 5 steps including content and clinical validity tests with collaborative efforts of nurses, clinicians, and other allied healthcare professionals with the aim of improving the quality of patient care, while minimizing cost to the patients. This paper was described an evaluation of the impact of a developed critical pathway on complication rate, length of stay, costs, the interval of treatment and patient satisfaction by nonequivalent control group posttest-only non-synchronized research design.Results were compared between the two groups of patients. There were no significant differences in demographic variables and the occurrence of bone marrow suppression between experimental group and control group(t=-0.01, p=0.992). There were statistically significant decreases in the average length of stay(t=-10.45, p=0.000), in the average cost(t=-2.988, p=0.004), and in the interval of treatment(t=-6.75, p=0.000) after implementation of the critical pathway compared to control group. Also, there was a statistically significant improvement of the patient satisfaction after implementation of the critical pathway compared to control group(t=4.57, p=0.000). This paper concludes that critical pathway in chemotherapy for lung cancer, implemented in the context of an general hospital, is the useful tool to shorten the hospital stay, reduce treatment costs, and improve the quality of life in cancer patients. Further study needs to be conducted to identify other clinical outcomes including job satisfaction, collaboration among health professionals and potential for use in education. Also, it is recommended that nurses should revise continuously the developed critical pathway through clinical implementation and maintain their role of patient advocacy through monitoring pathway compliance.

Purpose: This study was carried out to describe the process and evaluation of a critical thinking class for new community health practitioners. Methods: The case study design was used to develop and evaluate a critical thinking class for 46 participants in the community health practitioners training program. The class was held two hours a week for 8 weeks. Critical thinking disposition was tested before and after the class and critical skill was graded according to the final test score. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests using SPSS WIN 20.0. Results: Clinical critical thinking competences were identified through the literature review. The case situations with questions guiding the problem-solving process were developed and used for group discussion. Critical thinking disposition of participants was determined to have increased slightly after having taken the class. 17.4% of the participants had a competency level high enough to solve a problem and half of them stayed at the level of understanding of critical thinking. Compared with the class's satisfaction with the relevance to their jobs, the satisfaction with the learning method and instructor was high. Conclusion: The findings of this research will serve as the basis for developing critical thinking classes for community health nurses in order to improve their critical thinking competence.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to revealed the association among the clinical performance, self-concept of the nursing profession and critical thinking disposition of nursing students. Methods The subjects were recruited from the university nursing students who was experienced Grade 3 and Grade 4 students. The general characteristics of the subjects were presented with the frequency and percentage. Differences in clinical performance, professional nursing self-concept and critical thinking disposition were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA according to the degree of general characteristics. A significant positive correlation were analyzed from $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test. Multiple regression analysis was used to reveal the effective indexes for Clinical Competence of the subjects. The suitable significance was 0.05 Results Total 318(23 males and 295 females) participants were joined in this study. Critical thinking disposition of the nursing students was significantly different in the university satisfaction, academic record, major satisfaction, satisfaction of clinical practice, relationships with colleagues practice, satisfaction amount of practice(p<0.001). Clinical competence of nursing students was positively associated with critical thinking disposition, professional self-concept and professional self-concept was positively associated with critical thinking disposition. Critical thinking disposition and professional self-concept was significant (F=83.081, p<.001). The higher clinical competence was (${\beta}=.168$, p=.001), the higher professional self-concept was(${\beta}=.051$, p<.001). The explanation power of critical thinking disposition and professional self-concept was 34.5% in clinical competence. Conclusions There is significantly positive correlation among critical thinking disposition, professional self-concept, and clinical performance in the nursing students.
In this study, the artistic background and formative nature of representative 19th century realist artists Gustave Courbet and Honoré Daumier were analyzed and applied in a fashion context. By displaying representational desires (necessary adhesions of man and society) in their work, they became characteristic matrixes of critical realism and to perceive critical realism. The purpose of the study was to apply the characteristics of critical realism to the contemporary fashion collections of Alexander McQueen. Research was conducted to analyze the characteristics that appear in the field of fashion and to review methods of expression and internal aesthetics displayed through various aspects of fashion design. Characteristics of critical realism were analyzed by researching the formativeness and periodical background of the paintings of Courbet and Daumier. Based on these characteristics, analysis was conducted to identify critical realism in the fashion collections of Alexander McQueen. Data and scope included fashion information sites, internet photo data, and video material. Critical realist characteristics were categorized into five types as follows: 'The proper borrowing of extremely realistic subjects signifies', 'satirical reconstruction and narrative composition', 'antipathetic distortions and abject representations', 'critical reproductions based on technology', and 'the maximization of ambivalent sexuality'. It was concluded that the characteristics of critical realism (recognized by the common formation of Courbet and Daumier) also appeared in Alexander McQueen's fashion collection but were inherited in a form that transcended pictorial expression due to the overall difference in use of visual arts.
Purpose : This study aimed to investigate changes in critical nursing activities from 2009 to 2020 and explore the relationship between nurse staffing and such activities in intensive care units. Methods : A total of 446,445 adult patients admitted to intensive care units in tertiary and general hospitals from 2009 to 2020 were identified using the National Health Insurance claims database. The Critical Nursing Activities Index was calculated based on the following critical nursing activities: ventilator, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). Trend analysis was performed to analyze changes in critical nursing activities over 12 years and to assess linear trends across different staffing levels. Results : The annual utilization days for ventilators, ECMO, and CRRT, as well as the Critical Nursing Activities Index significantly increased over the study period (p-for-trend<.001) in tertiary and general hospitals, except for ventilator use in general hospitals. Ventilator, ECMO, and CRRT utilization exhibited a significant upward trend with higher nurse staffing levels (Bonferroni adjusted p-for-trend<.001). The Critical Nursing Activities Index was significantly higher in hospitals with higher staffing levels compared to those with lower staffing levels (Bonferroni adjusted p <.05). Conclusion : The findings underscore the need for improved nurse staffing levels in intensive care units. Government policies should ensure that staffing levels align with critical nursing activities among critically ill patients to uphold the quality of care.
