Recently the study of the pseudo-gap in high temperature superconductivity become critical issue because it contains key information of the pair formation of the high temperature superconductivity. Specially angle resolved photoemission study shows the various information of the gap formation. In this talk, I will review the recent theories as will as experiments on the pseudo-gap in high temperature superconductors. Specially I will introduce the possible observation of the Andreeve reflection in the underdopped high temperature superconductors.

The problem of an infinite anisotropic material with a crack inclined with respect to the principal material axes is analyzed. The material is subjected to uniform biaxial load along its boundary. It is assumed that the material is homogeneous, but anisotropic. By considering the effect of the horizontal load, the distribution of stresses at the crack tip is analyzed. The problem of predicting critical stress in anisotropic solids which is a subject of considerable practical importance is examined and the effect of load biaxiality is made explicitly. The present results based on the normal stress ratio theory show significant effects of biaxial load, crack inclination angle and fiber orientation on the critical stress. The analysis is performed for a wide range of the crack angles and biaxial loads.
We measured the critical current of a Cooper pair transistor consisting of two Josephson junctions and a gate electrode. The Cooper pair transistors were fabricated by using electron-beam lithography and double-angle evaporation technique. The Gate voltage dependence of critical current was measured by observing voltage jumps at various gate voltages while sweeping bias current. The observed oscillation was 2e-periodic, which shows the Cooper pair transistor had low level of quasiparticle poisoning.

As the first step for the application of seismic landslide hazard maps to domestic cases, two types of hazard maps on Ul-joo from pseudostatic analysis and Newmark sliding block analysis are constructed and comllared. Arcview, the GIS program and the 1:5,000 digital maps of the test-site are used for the construction of hazard maps and tile parameters for the analyses are determined by seismic survey and laboratory tests. The results from the pseudostatic analysis have more conservative values of lower critical slope angles, although the results from the two different analyses have similar tendencies. In detail, with increasing the peak ground acceleration, the difference between the two analyses in the critical slope angle increases, while the difference decreases with increasing the maximum soil depth.
The problem of predicting the fracture strength behavior in orthotropic plate with a crack inclined with respect to the principal material axes is analyzed. Both the load to cause fracture and the crack direction of crack growth arc of interest. The theoretical results based on the normal stress ration theory show significant effects of biaxial loading and the fiber orientation on the crack growth angle and the critical stress. The additional term in the asymptotic expansion of the crack tip stress field appears to provide more accurate critical stress prediction.
The flow characteristics around an elliptic cylinder with axis ratio of AR=2 located near a flat plate were investigated experimentally to study the interaction between the cylinder wake and the turbulent boundary layer. The pressure distributions on the cylinder surface and on the flat plate were measured with varying the angle of attack of the cylinder. In addition, the velocity profiles of wake behind the cylinder were measured using a hot-wire anemometry As the angle of attack increases, the location of peak pressure on the windward and leeward surfaces of the cylinder moves toward the rear and front of the cylinder, respectively. At positive angles of attack, the position of the minimum pressure on the flat plate surface is moved downstream, but it is moved upstream at negative angles of attack. With increasing the angle of attack, the vortex shedding frequency is gradually decreased and the critical angel of attack exists in terms of the gap ratio. By installing the elliptic cylinder at negative angle of attack, the turbulent boundary layer over the flat plate is disturbed more than that at positive incidence. This may be attributed to the shift of separation point on the lower surface of the cylinder according to the direction of the angle of attack.

The main parameter commonly used to evaluate spray distribution is spray angle. Spray angle is important because it influences the axial and radial distribution of the fuel. Spray angles were measured and compared for the two non-air assisted injectors such as 2hole-2stream 4hole-1stream injectors used for port fuel injection gasoline engines with n-heptane as a fuel by three different measuring techniques, i.e., digital image processing, shadowgraphy, and spray patternator, respectively. Fuel was injected with the injection pressures of 0.2-0.35 MPa into the room temperature and atmospheric pressure environment. In digital image processing approach, the selection of the transmittance level is critical to obtain the edge of spray and hence to measure the spray angle. From the measurement results by the shadowgraphy technique, it is dear that the spray angle is varied during the spray injection period. The measurement results from spray patternator show that the different spray angles exist in different region. Spray angle increases with the increase in the injection pressure. it is suggested that the spray angle and stream separated angle should be specified when spray is characterized for 2hole-2stream injector, because spray angle is much different though stream separated angle is same. It was also considerably affected by the measurement techniques introduced in this experimental work. However, the optimal axial distance for measuring the spray angle seems to be at least 60-80 mm from the injector tip for two non-air assisted injectors.
According to deformation features of pre-twisted bar, its elastic bending and torsion buckling equation is developed in the paper. The equation indicates that the bending buckling deformations in two main bending directions are coupled with each other, bending and twist buckling deformations are coupled with each other as well. However, for pre-twisted bar with dual-axis symmetry cross-section, bending buckling deformations are independent to the twist buckling deformation. The research indicates that the elastic torsion buckling load is not related to the pre-twisted angle, and equals to the torsion buckling load of the straight bar. Finite element analysis to pre-twisted bar with different pre-twisted angle is performed, the prediction shows that the assumption of a plane elastic bending buckling deformation curve proposed in previous literature (Shadnam and Abbasnia 2002) may not be accurate, and the curve deviates more from a plane with increasing of the pre-twisting angle. Finally, the parameters analysis is carried out to obtain the relationships between elastic bending buckling critical capacity, the effect of different pre-twisted angles and bending rigidity ratios are studied. The numerical results show that the existence of the pre-twisted angle leads to "resistance" effect of the stronger axis on buckling deformation, and enhances the elastic bending buckling critical capacity. It is noted that the "resistance" is getting stronger and the elastic buckling capacity is higher as the cross section bending rigidity ratio increases.
A blend system prepared from epoxy(EP) and polyurethane (PU) was investigated in terms of the contact angle and mechanical properties. The contents of EP/PU were varied within 100/0~100/60 phr in the presence of 20 phr DDM (4,4'-diamino diphenyl methane) as a curing agent for epoxy resin. Contact angle measurements were performed employing a Rame-Hart contact angle goniometer. Deionized water and diiodomethane were chosen as the testing liquids. In this work, Owens-Wendt and Wu's models using a geometric mean were studied to analyze the surface free energy of blend system. For the mechanical and toughening properties of the casting specimens, the critical stress Intensity factor ($K_{IC}$) and impact test were performed. Especially, the impact test was carried out at room and cryogenic temperatures. As a result, specific or polar component of the surface free energy of the blend system was largely influenced on the addition of the PU resulting in increasing the impact strength for the excellent low- temperature performance.
