The organizational ambidexterity has been emerging as the way to gain competitive advantage in turbulent environment. The concept of ambidexterity is simultaneously accomplishing the balance between the activities of exploration and exploitation, and overcoming their conflicting tension. The beneficial merits of ambidexterity has been investigated in innovation, financial performance, strategic management, and etc. Our study focused on the impact of ambidextrous activities on creative performance. Although three ambidextrous modes-structural ambidexterity, contextual ambidexterity, and sequential ambidexterity-have been already acknowledged, scant studies suggested the specific mechanisms to achieve ambidexterity in practice at the operating level. To address the issue we performed the semantic network analysis on the basis of the previous literatures prescribing ambidexterity theory. We took interview with 21 teams to explore behaviors of teams from the ambidextrous perspective, and then interpreted the relationship among words which appeared in the interview. This study found the appropriate mechanism which alleviate tension revealed by exploitation and exploration exist as practical reality. We demonstrated how these ambidextrous mechanisms can be used to generate the creative performance as well as examined various antecedents. These findings would contribute to the more fine-grained understanding of organizational ambidexterity, especially in conjunction with organizational creativity.
The aim of this research is to explore the potential of analogy and metaphor as design strategies for supporting the creative design thinking. For the empirical research on analogical and metaphoric process in designing, we conducted design experiments that consist of three different conditions of given items as stimulation for design inspiration: baseline, surrealist paintings, and housing design collections. The results were analyzed using a protocol analysis in order to obtain more systmatic interpretation of the design processes and strategies. As a result, it was noted that students are more apt to read visual information rather than semantic information in the given items. Instead of the representation of their senses or feelings from the paintings, they visualized the analogical images of the paintings for the design representation. However, analogical and metaphoric thinking derived from the given items seem change a designer's perspective, thus bring a novel interpretation on design problems, and eventually more creative and meaningful design ideas. An extended research using one-semester training and observation of the design studio process is introduced as a follow-up study for this paper. This research will investigate the long-term effect of the analogy and metaphor on the design thinking.
In order to evaluate the lifespan of high-temperature parts with thermal barrier coating in gas turbines used for power generation, this study was performed on an 80 MW-class gas turbine exceeding 24 k equivalent operating hours. Degradation characteristics were evaluated by analyzing the YSZ (Yttria Stabilized Zirconia) top coat, which serves as the thermal barrier coating layer, the NiCrAlY bond coat, and interface layers. Microstructural analysis of the top, middle, and bottom sections showed that Thermal Growth Oxide (TGO) growth, Cr precipitate growth within the bond coat layer, and formation of diffusion layer occur actively in high-temperature sections. These microstructural changes were consistent with damaged areas of the thermal barrier coating layer observed at the surface of the used blade. The distribution of Cr precipitates within the bond coat layer, in addition to the thickness of TGO, is regarded as a key indicator in the evaluation of degradation characteristics.
This study was to identify the effects of education on Korean foods preferred by elementary students and their sustainability. A survey was conducted on 5th-grade elementary school students. Korean food preferences were classified by exploratory factor analysis as creative, healthy, or considerate, and the effects of education on Korean dietary life were classified as cognitive or emotional. Dietary life sustainability was evaluated separately. Results showed that creative and considerate preferences had significant impacts on cognitive and emotional education effects and that a healthy preference type significantly impacted the emotional effect of education. Analysis showed that creative and considerate food preference types significantly influenced dietary life sustainability and that cognitive and emotional education effects mediated these relationships. Sex was not found to have a significant moderating effect. The study shows that Korean dietary life sustainability is influenced by education on topics that promote the value and excellence of Korean food and suggests that experiential education combining practice and theory should be used to increase interest in Korean food among elementary students. Additional studies are required to determine Korean food preferences to facilitate the development of a dietary life education program that enables students to understand and maintain healthy dietary practices.

This study examined the effect of entrepreneurial orientation on creative behavior and the mediating effect of knowledge sharing behavior in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. In particular, this study examined the moderating effect of leader-member exchange (LMX) in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. In this study, after distributing 500 questionnaires to executives and employees working at small and medium-sized companies in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, 259 questionnaires were used for hypothesis verification, excluding 38 unfaithful or missing responses. The analysis results are as follows. First, it was found that entrepreneurial orientation had a significant positive (+) effect on creative behavior. Second, it was found that entrepreneurial orientation had a significant positive (+) effect on knowledge sharing behavior. Third, knowledge sharing behavior was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on creative behavior. Fourth, knowledge sharing behavior was found to play a partial mediating role in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. Finally, it was found that LMX strengthened the positive (+) relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. The theoretical implications of this study are as follows. First, this study makes a theoretical contribution in that it revealed the mediating effect of knowledge-sharing behavior in the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior through empirical analysis of corporate members. Next, this study has theoretical implications in that it revealed that LMX strengthens the positive (+) relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and creative behavior. On the other hand, the practical implications of this study are as follows. First, companies need to find ways to strengthen the entrepreneurial orientation. Next, companies need to find ways to improve the quality of LMX between bosses and subordinates. Finally, this study discussed research limitations and future research directions.

This study attempts to investigate the effect of team diversity on individual creativity and team members' creative activities such as exploration and exploitation. We have garnered 40 team data from 249 respondents who have been participating in the team learning activities during semester in a private university. They were asked by instructor to show their creativity, and exploration and exploitation activities. The 40 teams were made up of team diversity factors such as study hour and leisure activity. We used a multilevel analysis to analyze the effects of team diversity factors on team member's creativity, and exploration and exploitation. Results showed that in general, team diversity factors like study hour and leisure activities have significant effects on the individual creativity, and exploration and exploitation. Practical implications represent that teams need to be organized considering the team diversity factors in order to improve team member's creativity, and their exploration and exploitation activities.

Considering the network externality and spill-over effects, this paper constructs the theoretical model for analyzing the financial policies focusing on the credit guarantee system for Creative Economy, which has been set as the new policy paradigm for the Korean Economy. The analytical results show that it is as much as important to improve the efficiency of the financial markets and construct the infrastructure for reducing the information asymmetry problem which would be more serious in the creative finance. Although it is important to fill the gap due to the market failure it is also crucial to construct the appropriate financial schemes for the various stages of the innovative firms growth. Without these, the impacts of current public funding policies may crowd out the amount of private market funds for the innovative firms or reduce the possibility of commercialization of new technologies in these firms. Based on the evaluation of current related public policies from the perspectives of creative finance, we imply that the current financial policies appear to be quantity oriented not the quality based. Although the policy goals would be appropriately set for vitalizing the Creative Economy in Korea, they appear to be still unsuccessful to address the information asymmetry issue which is the major concern in vitalizing the creative economy. Thus we emphasize the market friendly policies, risk-sharing between the various market participants, revitalizing the relationship banking and efficient management of credit guarantee system in Korea based on the analytical model as well as the evaluation of related policies regarding the creative economy.
This study was conducted to investigate whether WGB (Work-Growth Balance), an area of WLB (Work-Life Balance) improves Interpersonal Harmony, Creative Effort and Innovative Behavior in the organization, and whether Interpersonal Harmony and Creative Efforts have indirect effects on the relationship between WGB and Innovative Behavior. To test the hypothesis of this study, PROCESS Macro by Hayes (2013) was used. The results showed that WGB, Interpersonal Harmony, and Creative Effort influenced Innovative Behavior and WGB were variables that influenced Interpersonal Harmony. The variables influencing Creative Effort turned out to be WGB and Interpersonal Harmony. The indirect effect of Interpersonal Harmony and Creative Efforts was also confirmed in the relationship between WGB and Innovative Behavior. In addition, the magnitude of the effect between parameters was examined through Process Macro analysis. It turned out that there is a synergy relationship between WGB, Interpersonal Harmony, Creative Efforts and Innovative Behaviors. In future, more researches on WGB among various industries as well as mediating variables are expected. Further research is needed to study the various parameters of WGB and innovation behavior, and to Balance of Work-Family and Balance of Work-Leisure.
The purpose of this study is to verify the validity of a creativity measurement tool and to discover the creativity characteristics of creative gifted students by assessing the difference in the creativity characteristics of creative gifted students, who were selected from gifted students in elementary and middle schools through the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking(TTCT), according to school level and the type of the students (gifted student in mathematics, gifted student in science). To this research purpose, creative gifted students were selected by the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking(TTCT) on 594 students, who had applied for super gifted education, from 17 gifted students institutes under the jurisdiction of Jeollabukdo office of education, Then, t-tests and multiple regression analysis were performed to analyze the creativity factors between elementary students and middle school students and between mathematics-gifted students and science-gifted students. From the research, the following results were obtained. Although TTCT is effective in distinguishing gifted students with and without creativity, correlation coefficient values between creativity factors(the correlation coefficients between 'fluency' and 'originality' and between 'fluency' and 'elaboration' were .78 and .50 respectively) suggested the possibility of low uniqueness of creativity factors. In addition, compared with elementary students, middle school students showed significantly lower fluency (circles), elaboration(picture construction, picture completion), and the abstractness of titles(picture structure). In the meantime, science-gifted students displayed significantly higher originality(picture construction), and elaboration(picture construction, picture completion, circles) than mathematics-gifted students. Therefore, continuous study is required to enhance the validity of the test for the selection of creativity gifted students. Besides, efforts should be made to find ways to enhance the creativity of gifted students and to resolve the problem of decreasing creativity with student academic level increasing.
